  1. I appreciate what you're saying but when a wagon is whacked ... its whacked and you know it is. Add up all the other 'asks' on this forum and its going to be bottom of the pile because it does fundamentally what it says on the tin. Compare it to .... well name your gripe really - Battlefront will probably try and fix those first.
  2. jomni, Yes but with the current equipment you've got the makings of the Russians already - whereas there is nothing in the current Blue makeup that will even resemble the British and with the Brits you hopefully will get some really cool kit like Challenger 2, Warrior, Scimitar and Jackal.
  3. There's something in CMMODS somewhere which models a Cloverleaf - that might help with the off-ramp dilemma
  4. Ok then ... Marines isn't out yet so by the most optimistic timetable the Brits won't be out until Feb/Mar (ish). Believe you me I'm biting my arm off for this module myself but I'm sure the Marines module will keep me occupied for that amount of time. I guess also it depends on what they're planning to include in the Brits module - obviously the more they put in the longer it'll take I guess. What would your pick list be? Mine would be in order of merit: Challenger 2 Warrior Bulldog CVR(T) Scimitar Jackal Viking WMIK CVR(T) Spartan Plus some Syrian (or likely Syrian) kit: T-80 BMD BTR-50
  5. c3K, There should always be command and control - that is what the Section Commander (or Squad Leader if you prefer) is there for. The main mediums are through target indication and a simple fire control order.
  6. 1 - Yes 2 - Yes (albeit they keep me in a job!) None
  7. Back to the case in point though - when I was in Northern Ireland some scientists wanted to trial voice input to a particular system we used. The criteria was something like English Home Counties accent. At the time every battalion over there was from Northern Ireland, Wales, Scotland or from the North of England. We had to delay the trial for about 8 months until the R Anglians arrived in Province and they fit the Home Counties description very loosely. Anyway I went down with all the kit and taped them all in the PVCPs doing their thing - got a whole load of recordings over a week. Sent them off and the civvies came back and whinged about the sound quality and I said 'look - this is the environment they're going to be doing this in' (and it was quite benign) 'what hope have you got of this working if you can't cope with that?'
  8. meade95 There is one out there somewhere its about 8 x PDF files - hopefully someone in the know will point you to it. Put together by a few guys on this forum - I've downloaded all of it and its useful. I know one of the guys has got it in his signature somewhere. Maybe ... if you'll forgive the pun ... 'hunt' for it. Well recommended.
  9. What's wrong with the online manual? I've got the original one - I've read the updated one online - not a huge amount of difference and where there are differences it is quite clear.
  10. Ali Baba, I disagree - see my last post. This forum is about a game which simulates modern warfare and therefore any modern conflict that occurs is surely of interest. At no point have I seen any posts on this forum relating to modern conflict that glorifies the death of civilians or wants to replicate it in any way. Apart from my contributions this is a very mature and adult forum - if you want idiocy go to Youtube - plenty of stupid xenophobic, racist willy waving ranting there. Here it is confined to the weapons and tactics and the possibilities of replicating it in this game.
  11. Piecekeeper, Children die all the time - its the worst thing in the world - I hate to see them suffering. I have also been involved in my fair share of conflicts and seen, heard and experienced some bloody awful things. Wargaming and warfare is my hobby - I can separate the two - remember in this game and its antecedents there is no blood or body parts flying around - CMSF is specifically designed around warfighting - its about fighters fighting fighters which is what we're interested in. Despite disagreements I have had with many people on this site I don't think for one minute that any of them want to create scenarios or mods with dying children in them - its just about the tactics and the kit. Have you seen anyone on this forum for instance post a link and say 'hey look at the dead kid?' I remember one just recently which said along the lines of 'some good action shots but also some strong images'. That shows sympathy and respect for the dignity of human life don't you think?
  12. Paper Tiger, Superb screenshots as always - really great
  13. I must admit I'm not a big fan of controlling everything but in the circumstance above there either needs to be this type of command available to the player or the AI needs a tweak. A shot at an AFV by an AT-4 or any similar weapon at 600m is optimistic at best. Ballpark ranges for this sort of kit are 500m for a static target and 300m for a moving target.
  14. In former Soviet terms the regiment had a battalion of either 18 x D-30 122mm (BTR) or 2S1 122mm (BMP/Tank), BM-21 was a divisional asset with a battalion of 18 in the divisional artillery regiment. However Syria isn't the Former Soviet Union - that said it would be unusual to see MBRL in great quantities at Bde or Regt level.
  15. Except the BMP-3 has two bow mounted machine guns either side of the hull to consider as well!
  16. Compared to the Chieftain it was all three of those things
  17. Kosta, It comes out in September http://www.battlefront.com/community/announcement.php?f=79&a=30
  18. I think the medals and field promotions thing is a bit naff really. Certainly in the British Forces medals are not issued immediately - they get announced on the Operational Awards Honours Lists which generally come out twice annually. I have no problem if the game wants to track individuals for other reasons though such as KIA, WIA and the like.
  19. Turkey v Cyprus - that would be an interesting scenario!
