  1. Ditto with MILAN, Charlie G and LAW in the Falklands
  2. As do the Brits in Helmand - there are more videos than you can shake a stick at on You Tube showing the practice.
  3. SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER A better tactic for that scenario is to get your infantry to grab Javelins, dismount them and stick them on overwatch on the berm. Once they get up there they will make pretty short work of the armour that rocks up on that side of the map.
  4. For Army Infantry units yes - they all sit in the Anti-Tank Platoon. RM Commando structures are slightly more complicated than that. Formation Recce also has Javelin which replaced Swingfire in its Guided Weapon Troops.
  5. Essentially it is British Army parlance that dates back to the days of Empire and has been adopted more widely now. In its truest form it is a small fortification/position built out of rocks. Sangars are generally built where digging in is not an option such as in mountainous areas. If you read up about the war in Oman and Dhofar you'll see plenty of references to sangars there for example. See link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sangar_%28fortification%29
  6. It'll be the same for the Brits as well - 16 Javelin in the Battalion.
  7. I've just tried the links and can't get into them.
  8. Bigduke6, A lot of your questions are situation dependant - if the ground is rocky then the obvious answer is to build sangars if the ground is suitable for digging then its a case of digging. Also it depends how long you're staying. As to building a decent position - it takes a while! The CAS question again is a bit tricky - if trouble is expected then it will be pre-planned and therefore sorties will be allocated (if bid for). In theory therefore there will be aircraft overhead and CAS can be available immediately. If not bid for then its a case of asking for ECAS - response time therefore is linked to how far away the jet is. As to the effectiveness at night - it depends on the delivery system. TICs or CAS on call for TICs covers pretty much any aircraft in the NATO inventory ranging from Harrier all the way up to B1. If the aircraft is not capable of dropping at night it won't be launched/be on station in the first place. In my experience in Afghanistan - as soon as the bombs are dropped the TIC is pretty much closed although I am aware of one TIC where a B1 dropped 18000lb worth of ordnance on a TIC at night before things quietened down.
  9. No its not - the mechanics are but not the nuances.
  10. In which case I'm brainier than I thought! That is a relief - I think that with a combination of unit and terrain objectives plus the flat casualty figure I might be a lot closer to where I want to be than I am right now.
  11. rich, No problems - I was seriously doubting myself once you'd posted that you couldn't find it - I know I drink but not that much! Hope it improves your enjoyment of the game
  12. Err - one with TOW one without - the one with TOW uses its TOW but the one without uses its 25mm cannon - surely that is an entirely predictable outcome?
  13. rich12545, I was starting to doubt myself ... here it is: http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=75908&highlight=font
  14. Paper Tiger ... I think you might be a legend here. From what I've gleaned from your post - if I don't want to I don't have to assign any values to parameters if I don't want to (I'm thinking condition here if I have already set the casualty threshold for Blue and Red). Am I right with that?
  15. Gents - I'm starting to get into scenario design and I've cracked the maps and AI and all that stuff but I'm having real difficulties with understanding parameters for the victory screen. The simple reason for this is that me and mathematics have never been best mates. Basically then I'm looking for some simple tips here - I don't particularly want to open scenarios up and reverse engineer because I know what I want to achieve and I'd rather set me own conditions rather than modify. My problem is ... I just don't get the parameters bit. I've designed a few scenarios and know what I want to achieve victory condition-wise - I just can't seem to put the right numbers in and in particular I've not really got a handle on the opposites in parameters. My sample question is: If I put in 'Enemy Condition 30%' should I put in 'Friendly Condition 70%' What/how does this translate? Anybody who can give me a full break down of how all of this works will assume heroic status!
  16. There is a mod out there for it - not one I've downloaded because I am one of the lucky people who has no problems with the font - Rich12545 I would suggest you either search on the word 'font' here or go to CMMODS because you should find the mod that increases font size.
  17. From everything I've read that should be the case but why wouldn't you want the Marine Module?
  18. Guardsman, When I wrote that I hadn't given Botswana due consideration - they might be a safer bet for basing and would probably be up for it given the fact that the Zimbabwean Ambassador was 'gripped' by the Botswanan Government just recently. I am of course aware that we are ... can I say it ... 'overstretched'. Come what may, when the British Module is released on CMSF I would like to play a load of Africa-based scenarios.
  19. Guardsman How would I do it? Like this ... http://www.defencetalk.com/forums/showthread.php?p=126159#post126159
  20. While we're on the subject ... why not Oman and Dhofar, Rhodesia, Angola, Falklands. These would all be great modules ... but they've got to be done properly.
  21. I wouldn't bet against UK involvement - if only to conduct a NEO. There are shedloads of UK passport holders in Zim still I reckon.
  22. Who cares - I don't think either me or Cpl Steiner want them to win! I just want to take the British Army in there and wipe the floor with them.
  23. Or wait for the British Module and have the Brits go back in there. I'd play it so long as the maps are good.
