    Part Ten:

During these next few turns not only are we reinforced by our Ukrainian allies but we manage to hold the line and repel the ENY advance.

The Russians make a mad dash with 3 APCs on our right flank but 3rd SQD manages to kill one with a nice AT4 shot while our center LMTV heats up the barrel of his .50 while mowing down ENY ground troops.

Our Sniper and FO team begin to take fire on our right flank and we quickly decide to relocate into both the woods and the building behind.

Unfortunately for 1st SQD/B Team and his accompanying Engineer section, they make a valiant last stand before being quickly overrun by ENY troops.

On the right flank another ENY APC gets danger close to our troops but 2nd SQD makes short work of it with a point blank AT4 kill right into the BTRs flank.

The Ukrainians arrive just in time and I give them their marching orders getting them right into the fight. I move the a rifle squad and HQ unit with their respective BMP transports into the woods on the left flank which desperately needs bolstering. They get into position just in time to kill an ENY BTR dueling it out with our LMTV.

I move the BM Oplot to the center of the map and he begins to engage ENY tanks across the river. The remaining Ukrainian BMP3 is ordered to advance to the right flank.

I have to mention SGT Donahue (Sniper Section) as his superb discipline under fire saves many lives during this turn. He and his .50 cal sniper rifle manage to destroy/repel the ENY APC advance.

    Weathering pending.

I had to avoid some areas (like front mudguards) because of the stretching effects. Got enough areas covered to make the camo complete.

I just may do that.  I have always played the CM games on "Veteran" without any thought  just because well that's what I am used to playing it on.      Quick question though, is the time delay for fire/CAS go both ways for the Player and the AI?

+1 to Elite - it also adds less information for you about the enemy. You cannot tell the difference between a scout team, a LMG team or regular infantry (unless you actually see and analyses the equipment but the UI shows less and the icons are generic infantry icons.

I'm not Chris but I can give you a definitive answer: the timing of indirect fire and CAS goes both ways.

HA! I get at least two men killed before I even start a scenario...I lost six guys today during a QB force selection. Going by my record since CMBN was released I am not even the guy you want serving your chow. The only way I could get two WIA would be not to play and it would still be iffy. Good job. I doubt anyone's gonna top that for a while.

    Part Six:

Fall back!!! Again the Russians make advances across the river but we are holding strong and redeploying to better combat the Red Threat. My troops are moving to their secondary defensive positions and resupplying with what they will need in the coming minutes of battle.

SPC MacCain in his Hummer also goes to work with his M2 50 Cal and knocks out an ENY APC while pinning an ENY SQD on Bridge Charlie 5. I guess those longs days/nights on the range paid off!

Compared to the sediment expressed so far, I find they work quite well in the scenario 'First Clash'.   The US forces get a Raven and a Grey Eagle.

I positioned the Grey Eagle on maximum area coverage over a village with a number of unknown contacts and the Raven on linear search over a treeline just before one of my objectives.

In the space of 10 minutes, the Grey Eagle has spotted 3 T-90 tanks (some of them in the treeline) and 5 BMP-3 and a AA vehicle buried in hedges and beside buildings.  In the same amount of time, the Raven spotted 3 BMP-3s in the treeline near the objective.

Not all the contacts came up immediately but as the 10 minutes ran, the contacts developed over time.

All vehicles were stationary and I confirmed the only spotter of the vehicles was the observers running the UAV missions.

So, they do work.  What I suspect might be the case is people are not allowing enough time for contacts to develop.  For the Raven in the case I outlined above, it took about 4-5 minutes for the first contact to show (stationary BMPs in a treeline) but by the end of ten minutes, I had three BMP contacts.

Here are a few images from my first scenario. As good as Battle for Normandy is, I can't help but wonder if Black Sea will soon mature and surpass it as BFC's masterpiece. What an embarassment of riches.

Wary of possible UAV observation and the threat of precision fire, a RUS assault recon unit coils its way through a tree line in order to mask its movement. Their task in the Stara Basan countryside is threefold: identify enemy strongpoints, direct friendy CAS and pathfind for the follow on assault company.

A RUS BRM-3K bolts from concealment enroute to taking up a new position. Exhaustive observation must be measured against the need for high tempo operations. Mobility is survival. 900 meters to the south of the RUS probe, a weary UKR platoon debuses in a shallow defilade and hastily prepares for the hammer blow about to befall them.
