  1. She rather strange doesn't she? Although her T-15 sister looks like a beast. Otoh I think those kurganetz-25 vehicles look sexy ;-) Wonder what the front turret armor for the T-14 is like.
  2. The link isn't working anymore nor did google come up with any suggestions. Ithikial, you know where one can download that campaign? cheers
  3. Reading back my post I could have been clearer. The excuse I have is that my injured wrist turned out to be broken and I didn't take any painkillers yet. I think ridiculing media or (autocratic) governments is healthy . But sometimes the line between ridiculing those versus a whole group of people (Russians, Arabs, etc) becomes very vague. That is, imo, when the ridiculing has become a goal of and in itself. I sensed a bit of focus on ridiculing Russians just because they can be ridiculed while reading this and other threads the other day and felt like addressing it.
  4. Well that's just what I mean Hato brother Since I have injured my right wrist today I'm handicapped elaborating. But words like that will only attract angry reaction of ill informed ones while the better informed ones will shy away from reacting. While I thoroughly enjoy dry humor, focusing on ridiculing ill informed people is in my experience counter productive for any worthwhile exchange of opinions. P.S. CNN/BBC/etc are not only unknowingly reporting wrong info, also knowingly 'wrong' or at least knowingly misinformed. Vastly different from RT and the likes, but still ****e.
  5. Hope there will be enough info for a module sooner rather then later!
  6. Why are some people so trigger happy to post about and ridicule Russia(n media BS)? There are plenty of similar Western media sources that don't receive similar attention here. Yes the Russian state controls much of their media outlets which is different from our media, although ours are also mostly controlled by politics and or economics. BS is BS and doesn't deserve the attention. The average Russian don't like their country being ridiculed, just like the average US/NL/UK/etc citizen. Perhaps the average Russian is more susceptible to false information because of the state controlled propaganda but that doesn't merit ridiculing. At least in my opinion.
  7. @Sublime. still have to check for our CMRT game, sorry but have been too busy with work and trying to have a social life. CMBS is great though, so when I have time I might be indulged to change our CMRT into a CMBS game.
  8. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kh-25#/media/File:Kh-25ML.jpg By the looks of it 80kg isn't far fetched
  9. Great AAR! Have to admit that I cheer for DMS, since he is the one that's up against 3 M1A2SEPv2 APS beasts and I know how hard it can be to take those out, even when operated by the AI!
  10. Although the Trophy APS is a b1tch, it doesn't provide 100% protection (just ~90% ;-)). I have had KH-25 pass by it, among others things. Too bad both your Kryz and T-90 are dead, those were your best tools for the job. Like IanL suggested Trophy doesn't have unlimited reloads (4 per vehicle iirc?). Suggestions: * RPG spamming to exhaust APS * Trying to sync fire with multiple AT-14 at the same time * Damaging M1A2 subsystems with 30mm fire (from BTR, Tunguska or the Su-25s). You might disable the APS? * Precision artillery (they are a bit faster than normal barrages iirc). * Praying for lucky hits with the KH-25. Good luck!, great AAR
  11. How does advancing while being under fire from heavy artillery look like? Although I have no military training I'm sure I would floor the bloody pedal to the metal after I'd decided where and when to move. Edit: Something like, "Davai davai davai!!" Anyone observing this might not get the impression there is actually a thorough plan behind those speeding fools in military vehicles.
  12. Although I do value The Independent as one of the better newspapers around, I agree with Steve as to in general almost all media are very poor at interpreting actual (current) military events. Because there is no time or chance to have proper research conducted by unbiased and knowledgeable persons any local source available to the journalist, working from a reasonable safe position in the area, will be the base for their journalistic interpretations. One question that came to my mind after reading about the fall of Debaltseve is: how does a 'orderly' retreat from a frontline position looks like? Everybody lining up in nice ranks and driving of in proper column formation? ;-)
  13. Great job on the camo / weathering. Really like the digital camo Oplot!
  14. Clear violation of the ceasefire! Really like the color.
  15. Something doesn't need to be bad, but can still be of less quality then something else. For example my car a VW Polo from 2006 is a good car, but when compared to a Porsche Carrera GT there is quite some difference ;-) Although, from cost effective viewpoint my VW Polo beats the Porsche all day considering I use it for commuting to work which is some 30km from my house. The T-72 was never designed to be like a Porsche, but rather a VW. The current Abrams M1A2 SEPv2 is something different.
  16. CAS from both sides is a bit of a dodgy affair imo. US / NATO air superiority partly depends on successful SEAD operations. While there is a lot of experience with SEAD operations, Russia has a lot of effective AA systems, besides the SA-13 & Tunguska ingame, and probably thorough understanding of how effective they actually are vs NATO SEAD. How costly would maintaining total air superiority above the CMBS frontline be for NATO? If downing a couple of ground hugging Frogfoots comes at the cost of some F15/16/18s, I'm not sure that's a good trade-off. Anyhow going back to the question, I'm sure the US Army would be very much eyeing to upgrade their tac AA capabilities from the Stinger systems if they were expecting a CMBS like conflict. Having the best 4 airforces in the world might affect prioritization, the lack of full spectrum conventional conflicts against states with a half decent airforce is probably the main reason as for why the US Army hasn't directed it's resources to this subject.
  17. Yeah don't know if that was a wise move by my government, selling of those tanks. From one point of view I don't see Netherlands active in a full spectrum armoured conflict all by itself (so why have them), on the other hand the knowledge of operating a tank battalion can be important to retain for one never knows what the future brings. It is said we are keeping some tank crews that train with tanks leased from Germany, for what that's worth.
  18. Also curious how you will fair in that battle! And great to see you back, enjoyed your NATO videos a couple of years ago
  19. Would be great if there would be a way to save the replay phase of a turn (automatically) into cumulative battle-report(s) and be able to view those as a replay/AAR after the battle. This is very different from recording the screen output, which is a feature that can be fullfilled quite easily with 3rd party software. I haven't tried Nvidia's hardware accelerated shadowplay function, but I read that it supports recording any game. In theory one can sort of do AARs already by saving each turn and loading and playing all of the subsequently after the battle, I have never really invested the time to do so. Although I agree with Womble insofar that I think that the nature of this game is unlike many other games, which have a small instruction set of a few KBs of metadata compared to hundreds of MB's of visual entertainment for a certain amount of gametime.
  20. I wasn't being serious regarding taking Merkel and Hollande as hostages, meine freund
  21. I don't really see the merit of comparing Putin with Hitler or Bismarck. All leaders learn from history and read Machiavelli , Putins/Russia's current position is vastly different from those times. Mankind has been manipulating, deceiving and warring long before written history or nation states showed up Although I guess you could see the events surrounding the dissolvement of the Soviet Union as the Russian 'Versailles' treaty.
  22. I have been able to KO an APS equipped M1A2 frontally with a salvo shot, but apart from that I'm a little underwhelmed by their performance so far. Perhaps the average CMBS map size and turret-down options impacts the usefulness of this vehicle in a significant way. Imo on average (in game) it is not much , if at all, more useful against an M1A2 compared to how effective a TOW humvee is when fighting russian MBTs.
