  1. Marketing = Propaganda = Public Relations It's just that the term Propaganda lost some of it's marketing value during the last century :-)
  2. Having survived 31 winters on a string, so far still I don't know what does the future bring. At 107 years (Perhaps Emrys is older?) you must be among the persons that know the most about living on earth. Please elaborate.
  3. Personally I live by the adagium that it is better to die on your feet than to live on your knees
  4. This whole price discussion thing is just something started by people without money in their creditcard account and continued by people with too much time on their hands
  5. There are a lot of 'Sunnis' around the globe that loathe IS. Like all other wars, this one is about Power and Money, ideology is just a tool.
  6. Agreeing about Pro Russian advocates being way out I'm neither Pro Russian or Pro West, although being an open minded westerner I would prefer Obama over Putin. That doesn't mean that I can't be critical about the west too. Anyway, having not posted any sources regarding geopolitic events myself (on this page), which sources do you think are reliable? Edit to add that there are no sources that I will take truth from for granted. Everybody has an interest to serve, so be sure to add pinches (or heaps in case of FOX/RT) of salt as deemed appropriate
  7. Plus many on that! We have seen the Oplot-M and T-64BV but, apart from the editor screen, no visuals of the Russian MBT's. We did see their AFV's and APC's though.
  8. Well, we are allowed to discuss geopolitic events in a civil manner. Keeping civil , I agree that the 'western' view as hosted by 'our' main stream media is not complete or accurate. It is, in my opinion, naive to think that 'The West' was not involved in the current (or previous) turmoil in the Ukraine. There are large Western economic and other strategic interests in the Ukraine (influence/power and money, is what makes the world go round. Same for Iraq/Syria/Gaza conflicts). I don't believe the 'coup' was just Ukraine people that revolted because they wanted to have the same prosperity as Poland. The Ukraine corruption was / is probably worse than in Russia, in large part because of the Oligarchs holding the strings there. Some of them are oriented towards 'he West', others with Russia. Both are smelly. Now Russia is not any hair better and has also been deeply involved in Ukraine internal affairs for a very long time and it is of no surprise that after Russia's straw-man Janoekovitsj was ousted , Russia secured their uber important warm water port of Sevastopol. USA or western foreign policy is not at all about roses, even if our own media outlets makes us believe it. There is also propaganda among the Western 'free' media, they are free in so far they report directly to the shareholder. If you look at real independent media (journalist shareholders), of which there aren't too many, you'll find the news to be much more balanced. Regarding the current state of the conflict: I have also read several reports about the high casualties on Ukrainian side and the bad state of the Ukraine army. However, they have made substantial gains and I don't believe that there are second to none losses on the side of the Seperatists / Russian mercs/clandestine operatives. The seperatists won't just 'fall back into defensive positinos' because they want to. There probably is a reason as to why Russia did sent clearly identifiable Russian army armored vehicles into Ukraine last week. Anyhow Russia will surely hold on to the Crimea and I don't see either side backing up regarding East Ukraine. But how far will Putin go? Seeing how deep Ukraine committed I don't see them giving up without an all out fight.
  9. And @Kettler, it doesn't really matter what angle the radar is able to detect targets at if the actual counter measure is limited to a certain angle.
  10. Mmm. After thinking about my own post, it should actually not matter at what distance a missile decides to dive @ 45 degrees towards target, the only variable is from what height a missile will dive but that is of no concern in this case
  11. That's good to hear, I for one didn't expect T-90MS to go toe-to-toe with Abrams M1A2 SEP (AP). But I do expect a noticeable difference from CMSF P.S. Great to read you are working on CMBS scenario's! Playing "armour attacks" in CMSF was one of great moments CMSF offered me.
  12. I saw the picture you showed, but among many others, for example on this site: http://forum.keypublishing.com/showthread.php?128833-ATGM-vs-APS Obviously it all depends at what exact moment/distance to target a missile dives on down. And an old report about Arena being designed to also defeat top attack missiles: http://fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/land/docs/3aps98.pdf
  13. Answered by the battlefront.com main page. I found out there is also no need to activate again, if like me one has used the upgrade prior to the above announcement.
  14. Hehehe ok point taken, although that 76mm does make a big difference!
  15. I have read some reports that it is designed to protect against top attack missiles, but like I said I'm not an expert and have 'google knowledge' only.
  16. Ok, thanks for the bones Anyway I didn't expect Russian APFSDS to reliably penetrate the Abrams frontal arc in CMBS, even only because in CMSF Blue on Blue that didn't happen. Nor did I expect the best T-90 to be a 1-1 match against the Abrams (M1A2 SEP). But I do expect them to be more potent than the Syrian T-90 against the M1A2SEP in CMSF. DU rounds, better armor, command and control, etc. But perhaps the (gamewise) wish is the father of my thought. Regarding the Javelin: how does Arena perform against those?
  17. This site only seem to show the Ukrainian losses. Apart from that, according to wikipedia those material losses seem 'affordable': 180~ T-64BM "Bulat" 600 T-64BV 1,000T-64B According to the information that 'came to me' the Ukrainians have made a lot of progress so it seems strange there are only ~5 non Ukrainian destroyed vehicles on that website. Last friday I feared for a intensification of the conflict after Ukraine claimed to have destroyed a Russian column of armoured vehicles, which a the UK newspaper The Guardian reported to have entered into Ukraine: http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/aug/14/russian-military-vehicles-enter-ukraine-aid-convoy-stops-short-border Russia simply denied and that was that. Me thinks a lot of sweat dripped that day. Anyhow I'm happy it didn't escalate in an (all out) open conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
  18. May I ask whether that is based on 'inside' knowledge of CMBS or your perception of how it will be? I'm expecting the US might versus the Russian's in CM:BS to be less dramatic than against the Syrians in Shock Force. Granted there are a lot of differences apart from the M1A2 SEP vs Russian T-90, I was also hoping for a more balanced tank 'duel'. Not an expert with RL knowledge myself but I would think the Russian version of the T-90(M)S is a whole different beast than the Syrian T-90. An active protection system would mitigate the danger of the barrel launched ATGM's, but there is more going for the T-90MS including Russian APFSDS rounds, Arena, Relikt ERA, command and control systems?
  19. Curious how the T-84 Oplot-M will compare to the T-90MS and how effective the various active protection systems function. M1A2 SEP with active protection sounds like a beast. And will be interesting to see how the Russian T-72B1/2/3 compare to the Syrian 'T-90SA', apart from the Shtora system.
  20. And I am actually sort of using the tactics Amizaur posts to good effect: ambush, fire and reverse!
  21. The experience I posted about in this thread is solely from the campaign mission, which features IIRC a mix of early/mid/late IS-2's with regular experience. I don't know the experience level of the StuG's, but I guess MeatEtr knows
  22. Flamethrowing is supported AFAIK, the actual units wielding flamethrowers will become available in packs. At least those are the rumors
