  1. Never say never! I keep coming here and doing the refresh monkey dance, every time hoping for a better result than the previous one. On I go. Click.
  2. 1:1 has certainly added to the immersion factor along with the increased fidelity of the graphics. Although there are associated downsides noted elsewhere, I firmly believe the move to 1:1 has increased my enjoyment in CM. I must admit I'm not looking forward to my first Brit casualties...
  3. That was a great video - thanks for sharing! I look forward to trying that scenario out - hopefully later today! Well, a man can dream can't he?
  4. Yep, and going back to 9.3 is currently the only workaround I've found, unless there's something in the forthcoming 1.20 patch that makes the later drivers play better with CMSF.
  5. I've had a problem with my ATI 4850 with drivers later than 9.3 running CMSF - I had a lot of crashes and ended up going back to 9.3. I'm not alone in discovering that these are the last stable drivers for the 4800 family of cards for playing CMSF - I hope that patch 1.20 does something about this, but knowing how flaky drivers can be for both NVIDIA and ATI I'm not holding my breath that there's anything BFC can do on their end. There's a few threads on this ATI problem over in the Tech forum.
  6. Unless I'm mistaken, I don't think this is released yet - it's due to come with the eagerly anticipated patch (and Brit module). The version currently linked to is only viewable via your web browser (at least I couldn't figure out how to print it out!)
  7. Nah, just release the module already - the thread will soon slip away of its own accord, taking all the inappropriately classified mammals with it. Everyone's a winner!
  8. I tried an online translator (not Google), and ended up with an article about 'Combat The pussycat: Shock Force'. Those crazy Danes.
  9. Seems the powers that be bowed to your persistent demands - the new screenshots of the Brit module are excellent, especially the new wall jumping animation.
  10. It seems that whatever ATI did after their 9.3 drivers has caused this problem with CMSF. The only current 'solution' is to uninstall 9.4, 9.5 or 9.6 and reinstall the stable 9.3 drivers. With any luck ATI will sort this out for 9.7, but I wouldn't hold your breath.
  11. I've noticed on larger maps that if I quit and reload an earlier save, often it will hang at 2% loading and I'll have to Ctrl Alt Del to kill the game. Like I say, this seems to only happen on larger maps.
  12. Are you using an ATI graphics card? There's a problem with the drivers from 9.4 onwards - a few people here (myself included) have had to go back to using 9.3 to avoid CMSF crashing every few minutes. I haven't tried the latest 9.6 drivers yet, but 9.4 & 9.5 do not like CMSF. There's a few threads about this already if you want more info - if you don't have an ATI graphics card I can't help I'm afraid!
  13. Yeah the last stable drivers for my ATI 4850 are the 9.3 as mentioned - I've played for hours with these drivers and not had a crash, whereas with 9.4 and 9.5 CMSF was crashing every few minutes. I hope ATI nail this problem in their 9.6 release...
  14. Can't you just use the spacebar now to bring up all the commands (well, most of them)?
  15. Six screenies here if you've missed the announcement: http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1355&Itemid=329 Looks great!
  16. I'm going to guess that you've installed the 1.11 Base game patch over your 1.10 Marines installation rather than downloading and installing the 1.11 Marines patch. You can get the 1.11 Marines patch here: http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=blogcategory&id=222&Itemid=336
  17. In CMSF, have you tried changing the 'ATI left Click Compatibility' setting in the Options? There are a bunch of weird combinations of cards and drivers which can effect whether you want this set to 'On' or 'Off' - it certainly made a significant difference to performance on my old ATI card.
  18. OK - I downloaded 1.11 last night and fired it up (I have XP and 8.12 ATI drivers for my 4850 card) - the intro is still not playing for me - I still get a grey pixillated screen with no sound. But (and this is a big but, so to speak) the acctual game plays flawlessly after that, with the improved loading times and with the tweaks to the LODs etc it looks much better than 1.10 did, which is a tiny bit more important to me than whether the intro plays or not.
  19. Not yet - stuck at work for a few more hours - curses! I'll be downloading and installing 1.11 in a couple of hours so I'll come back here and let you know.
  20. Well, both sets of cards have their own specific peculiarities, making the job of designing games a real fun experience I'm sure! I've just stuck in 8.12 for my ATI 4850 and I'm sorry to say that I still have a totally corrupted intro, but the game itself plays fine. I had the same problem when I had an ATI 1950XTX with previous drivers too - I'm pretty sure the last set of ATI drivers that actually played the intro for me were 7.11 or something, but I didn't try each new one as it came out, so that's not definitive.
  21. Excellent work - I'll grab this when I get home (stupid work interfering with the important things in life!)
  22. I don't think small arms friendly fire is currently modelled, but explosions from RPGs, grenades, missiles and shells can all cause friendly casualties as far as I know. I haven't had any accidental air support accidents so far though - don't know whether to congratulate or commiserate!
  23. The non picking up of fallen team members' undamaged CLUs and RPGs was definitely introduced in 1.10 - Steve acknowledged it in the marines bug report thread: So there you go!
  24. Hi - I've just tried this myself and I saw no performance issues in the PBEM files when playing out each side's turns for the first 8 turns - I gave each side's tanks a hunt command to the other side of the map and was able to zoom in, select tanks and generally muck about with no problems. However, the turns get to be 25Mb each very quickly, which seems pretty email unfriendly. I was just copying the files from my Outgoing Email folder to my Incoming Email folder in explorer rather than actually using email to send them - so maybe there's a problem with the way your email client is handling such large files? Unless you were doing the same as me, in which case I really don't know!
