  1. I had a save during that mission fail too - fortunately I had a save from about 3 turns prior to that which I could resume from. I started making more than one save file per scenario way back - hindsight is a wonderful thing! By the by, I have a Core Duo 6700 and an ATI X1950XTX running on XP SP3 - no memory problems so far, and the corrupted save happened after about an hour of the mission (WEGO) - the game crashed during the save process (showing 100% cpu usage for 1 core in the task manager), and then would hang trying to reload the save. This only happened one time though, so I guess I was lucky. Other than that v1.10 has been stable for me.
  2. I'm definitely interested in adding another of your quality mods to my collection! I think a lot of people are too busy playing to post here at the moment, otherwise you'd get more attention for this I'm sure!
  3. Thanks Mark - I look forward to trying these out! As for whether the previous maps will work in Marines and 1.10, I'm going to guess 'yes' but I'll leave it up to the experts to have the final word.
  4. Hey MiR! Great work on the mods - I have a cheeky request - any chance you can update your great 'Rings' mod for the new Marines v1.10 WIA/KIA bases? Thanks once again!
  5. Awwww! Well thanks for the heads up - the manual is indeed an interesting read so far!
  6. OK - so I can now officially 'get excited'! Refresh monkeys are go!
  7. The pre-order is only available for the 'Download and hard copy' delivery option, which would be $35 without the discount. So you get the $10 off the the download and hard copy option = $25. S&H is a further $20 on top if you are outside the US. If you wait until the game is released in September, you will be able to buy just the 'Download' option which will be a flat $25. They don't offer a discount on just the 'Download only' option, so you can't pre-order it. I've probably made things more confused, but I was just trying to help, honest!
  8. The list of new features and fixes is very impressive - I've placed my pre-order! £25 for the download and hard copy is a serious bargain in my book.
  9. This has happened to me ever since I upgraded my ATI drivers from 7.11 to 8.1 and beyond (still happening with 8.4). I have a 1950XTX with 512Mb RAM if this makes any difference.
  10. Hi - when I went to ATI 8.1 and above I had to set the ATI compatability (in the main Option Screen) to 'On' or I would see the lag you are describing. Hope that helps!
  11. I've seen very strange tank movement behaviour several times. I don't think it's exactly the same as what you're seeing - a tank will start the turn on a 'hunt' command but will sink front down into the ground up to its turret, spin round and wobble from side to side very rapidly, and then gradually right itself and continue with its movement. It looks very alarming, and reminds me of a post Steve made a few years back when he was commenting on the bugs he'd seen when Charles was first programming the tank movement. This happened in a PBEM - I have saves from the most recent example if anyone wants to see them.
  12. I saw a weird bug in 1.08 during a PBEM game at the weekend. I was playing the Modern Oasis scenario - the one where Blue has 4 Abrams and Red has 10 T72s (2001). At certain points when tanks were ordered to move, the replay would show them dipping vertically through the surrounding terrain and move very jerkily/rapidly up and down until they faced the desired direction, whereupon they moved off without further graphical oddity. I didn't mind too much until I had the last remaining Abrams in my sights, and at the start of the next turn it did this bizarre 'dance', and my 2 T72s firing on it either missed or the shots didn't register. Anyway, alas I just realised I deleted the save games to save disk space - it's possible the chap I was playing still has them though.
  13. 'AltP' shows all movement points - this was introduced a good few patches back. I would like a 'show all targeting lines' command too.
  14. So - have you tried out any of these missions in 1.08 yet? I imagine the increased likelihood of lower quality troops routing could have an impact at least? I hope it doesn't mean you need to rebalance every mission and monkey with your carefully structured AI plans! I am looking forward to reaping the rewards of all your hard work! It's all much appreciated and long may it continue!
  15. It might be helpful to have a sticky in this forum with a list of changes from the readmes of all the patches. Or maybe just a list of new changes in functionality not covered in manual - like the hotkeys.txt. Just a thought. Or they could just read the readmes!
  16. The latest patch fixes most if not all boarding bugs, and the hotkeys have been user-definable for some time, so maybe you might be happier trying the game again now?
  17. Hi - I think this is an ATI driver issue which is interacting with CMSF. When I use the ATI 7.11 drivers, I see the same problem which you see with the scenario editor, regardless of which version of CMSF I use (from 1.05 onwards I have noticed this). If I install ATI 8.1, 8.2 or 8.3 drivers, this menu blackout issue is solved, but I get unacceptable delays selecting units in the game. I can mitigate this delay problem by turning on 'ATI Left Click Compatibility' in the Main Menu Options screen, but this lead to less accurate cursor behaviour in the game. However, since patch 1.08, the cursor seems to behave much better while in compatibility mode, so it looks like I will be sticking to ATI 8.3 for now instead of rolling back to 7.11. I don't understand why I need to switch the ATI compatibility option on for ATI 8.3 but not for 7.11, but it seems having this option 'on' in version 1.08 is no longer so frustrating, so thanks to BFC for tweaking this! One last thing (in case none of this is applicable to you), I found that I could 'cure' the disappearing menus in the scenario editor by placing a flavour object on the 2D map, then loading the map up in 3D, and then move/rotate the flavour object around - when you exit the 3D view, the scenario menus no longer black out the rest of the screen when highlighted. At least, I think that's what was curing it!
  18. You might want to check the front page...
  19. Just wanted to say thanks to The Louch for this - I have just finished an excellent PBEM game using this map with the default units you included. In fact it has inspired me to try my hand at the scenario editor for the first time since purchasing CMSF last year. So far I've just messed about on other available maps changing the force balances to suit my PBEM game needs, but I figure one day I'll tackle making actual scenarios. You have been warned!
  20. I've sent a saved game which shows an example of the face behaviour (albeit only over 2 turns of a WEGO game).
  21. I've just made a discovery with the Catalyst 8.3 drivers. I had a problem going from 7.11 to 8.1 with 3-4 second freezes when selecting units - very annoying so I rolled back to 7.11. I tried 8.2 and 8.3 when they came out and suffered the same problem. My discovery was this - in order to stop the freezes using 8x drivers, I have to enable the ATI Left Click option in the CMSF options. Now why this should be the case I don't know, seeing as CMSF played very nicely under 7.11 without this option selected. Something must have been changed by ATI in the 8x drivers. Now I just have to get used to the 'lack of precision' that having this option selected brings, but as I play WEGO it's not too annoying so far when a click doesn't go where I was expecting as I have the luxury of time to change it back - it's certainly less annoying than the freezes. Whether it's less annoying than having old drivers for any new games I buy remains to be seen. For the record I'm using an ATI X1950XTX under XP SP2.
  22. I saw this happen to one of my opponent's soldiers in a PBEM game last night - the sole survivor of a squad was running diagonally back and forth in the ground floor of a building while my squad shot at him from an adjacent building. He finally stopped this when he managed to run into one of the bullets my soldiers were spraying in his general direction, so I'm not sure how tired he was.
  23. I've also got the high pitched noise in my ATI 1950XTX when looking at the menus in CMSF, but I also get it in other situations also (scrolling the campaign map in M2TW for example). From what I can gather (from Google!), it can be caused when the card is drawing on a lot of power. Depending on a combination of motherboard, video card and psu there is a chance that a resonance circuit is created in some power regulation coil, which makes a high-pitched sound. So it's an ATI design issue. As for the corruption - I saw that when I went to the ATI Catalyst 8.1 drivers, but I had other performance issues with those drivers so I went back to 7.11. Incidentally if I press the 'esc' key when the intro pops up, it momentarily corrupts the screen before the game menu pops up. Or what rune said.
  24. Since I play most of my games in WEGO, frame rate isn't such an immersion killing issue for me. Sorry you have a 50-50 split now! P.S - really looking forward to your Red on Red campaign! Edit - I suppose the missing factor here is the power of your PC and graphics card - my setup was pretty good a year ago (so now it's just middling!), so maybe I'm OK with slowdowns because I'm not really seeing them! 25. There's definitely a bug in QBs with the time and temperature displayed - I'm currently playing one where the time is -711.25 and the temperature is up in the 220000's!
