  1. Wow, this is a small world after all. You actually worked on the remake of that classic, cool! Yes, Dan Bunten became Dani Bunten. But he/she died in the late nineties by lungcancer. Sad story.
  2. Seven Cities of Gold indeed! Only people over 40 (like me) probably know this. What a fun game that was. Atari 800XL, I loved that computer.
  3. Oh my, the natives are getting restless Time to "Amaze the natives", Offer a gift" or "Trade". Let's hope the chief of BFC is in a good mood
  4. Can't remember this ever happening in CMBB. Have not seen it in CMRT so far either. These flamethrowers are menacing though, could not resist to make a scenario that puts them to good use. Especially seeing the OT-34 flamethrower tank in action is very impressive. Man carried flamethrowers are in too of course, but are more difficult to use effectively since their range is very limited. Getting them in a position to use their flame toy on a bunker or something is hard. But you will find that out soon enough .
  5. Can I join this little competition too ? I quite like the title of Supreme Red Thunder Release Date Spotter...
  6. And as you tread the halls of sanity You feel so glad to be, unable to go beyond
  7. Wow, just checked the number of downloads: 344. That's great  Too bad only 7 players rated it, although all 7 ratings are very positive. Anyway, I am glad to see a lot of players seem to have enjoyed this one. Thanks for playing
  8. Oops. I am under NDA. Did I just moooh a little too much. Cowpie!
  9. I can only say that it is not quiet backstage. CMRT is looking better every passing day, more cowbell and all. I can imagine folks being impatient after having to wait for their return to the Ostfront for so long, but the wait will not be much longer. Glad BFC are around to make games like this!
  10. Welcome to the epicentre of computer wargaming
  11. What's all the fuzz? I have been playing Red Thunder for weeks! Big deal
  12. While cardboard games can be a good inspiration (I have done it too) and help you to start with some kind of OOB, there is no need to stick rigorously to the artificial looking maps. Better to use online maps like Erwin said, or use the cardboard map for the general position of a few important landmarks, but adapt it to make it more natural looking. And in MG there are a few very good master maps you can use if you like. I have used one for my MG Betuwe on Fire scenario. Crop the map to your liking and adapt it if need be (I added numerous drainage ditches on the map among other things). Making good scenarios is not easy, but can be very rewarding. Go at it :-)
  13. I just checked my scenario MG Betuwe on Fire. Downloads: 292. Ratings: 6. Also some comments in the thread in the mod forum. But that's it. All comments very favorable (thanks guys!) but still, the number of comments is hardly stunning. Hardly an incentive to make new scenarios one could say. On the other hand 292 people at least took a look at it. Thing is, I was guilty of not rating stuff myself, up until recently. Too lazy probably. But since I took the plunge and published a few scenarios myself, I realize that rating someone's efforts is a good thing. You really want to know if what you published (and labored on for weeks) is any good. But you can't force people to do so of course. I do feel the BFC repository could use an overhaul. Maybe that would tempt players to pay a visit and voice their opinion. Just my 0.02
  14. Yeah, they had just about decided to go with CM: Vodka Force...
  15. Yes, there was a pc wargame by that name published 14 years ago. It was not a big succes... But they no longer hold the rights to the name. Trademark has expired on 3/28/2001. You can even look that on the internet at Trademarkia. So that should not pose a problem.
  16. Bigger maps, longer and more complex battles. This of course sounds great. But the flip side of the coin is it takes a lot of time to build the map and make a good scenario on it. Don't even mention playtesting monster scenarios. And finally, playing it will also take a lot of time. I sometimes start up a scenario, see the huge number of units involved and can hardly bring myself to start playing it, no matter how great the scenario potentially is. To each his own of course, but I am not a real fan of monster scenarios. There are ways to mitigate some of the drawbacks of large scenarios. Like bringing in the involved forces piecemeal or not allowing the defender to place his units where he likes in setup zones. I have done the latter in a few scenarios. That way the player is not tempted to build his perfect defense that literally takes hours and hours of setting up. It forces the player to start playing the scenario almost right away. Some may not like that, but the comments on my scenario were that it indeed saved them a lot of time and they did not mind at all. Just my 0.02
  17. He Steve, since this is marked as done, you might want to update post#1 of the feature tracker
  18. Time limit has not changed. It is up to the scenario designer what time he gives a player to complete the mission. Ofcourse, if you really want more time, enter the editor and crank up the times. Your choice. Still, sometimes the time limit is a deliberate decision by the designer that serves a purpose.
  19. Wot!?! Upen's first post is answered by Steve?!? Bloody favoritism! Welcome upen. And pre-ordering from BFC has proven to be perfectly safe. They deliver quality stuff, every time, for many years now.
