  1. So, the results of the Great Bong-Hai Boat Race are in.....The winner (as expected) is: The crew had time to get out and crack open a beer while they waited for the other competitors to arrive (roughly 4m40s to cover 1km). Second place was a close run thing between the LAVs, our BRDM based Patrol Boat and that stalwart workhorse of CM:HE the BTR-60: Bringing up the rear at a leisurely pace were our Fuchs based MG Boat and MG Junk followed by our BMP-2 based Patrol Boat and the BMP-1:
  2. Never seen a A-1 Skyraider (dunno why I wrote A-4 above, that was the Skyhawk) in flight, but I do love them.....The term 'bomb-truck' could have been made for them: How many weapons? All the weapons!
  3. Christ yes.....What a great video! First of @Ithikial_AU's that I've seen.....Very impressed.
  4. Not that I know of either. Could you send me a save and a copy of any scenario where this is the case.....Not a challenge to your statement of any kind, purely a request. It should only take me about ten minutes in the editior to check the starting conditions of the units. I can then replicate them in a test scenaro and see what happens.
  5. Hmmmm.....Scripting for boats is going to be very challenging. I need to set up a 'Riverine Races' test map.....Anyone want to take a punt as to what is the fastest swimmer in CM:SF2?
  6. That last picture looks like a total recipe for disaster.....Followed by a number of really rowdy funerals!
  7. No, seriously, if it's something you want to be changed, that is precisely what you are asking.....Pixies & Fairies ain't going to make it happen because you guys wish it so! Let's be honest.....The reversing speed of a particular armoured car, is not exactly the biggest issue with CM as it stands, there are many others.....Which to his credit @Erwin has pointed out. However.....How many complaints threads do we really need? What do they actually do for the wider community? Can you make an AAR of a complaint? Why not try using what already we have to make something instead? That way the time until 'Fire & Rubble' might seem to go a bit quicker.
  8. I think this may already be at least partially implemented, there seem to be three colours of smoke in the game. TBH I'm not clear on what they mean.....Other than, in CM:BS, when your vehicles start popping smoke, someone is about to die!
  9. I might well ask you precisely the same question. Let's put it another way.....Would you like to see 'Fire & Rubble' delayed while the primary programmer re-writes the movement code for one vehicle type (with 4 sub-variants) across several CM titles? Because that what it sounds like you are asking for.
  10. I only ever use fast on road & when I do, I plot the 'racing line', as you know from Police reaction times in Chiraq City! I had so much fun in that one.....I think it's finally time for the 'flipside', real world be damned!
  11. We'll see how it goes.....The map's not even close to finished, but I need to get my head around how this stuff will broadly play out. How long will it take to cross the 2.4km x 2.4km map? Can troops disembark and climb the islands? How well will our spotter aircraft do against targets in water.....They are bloody awful as a rule, as you of all people will know!
  12. Thanks dude.....TBH it's never going to be close to real riverine fighting and it will always be largely up to the player to make it fun for himself with some sort of honour system (otherwise it'll be hull-down behind an island and massacre the dimwit AI or exchange potshots with the hull-down naval forces of another equally cheaty player. Returning to our story, our resolute heroes are not so outnumbered as it might at first appear.....They do have some 'little friends': BHIAF Nordyun C-64 Norseman observation aircraft (Built on the RQ-7B) BHIAF A-4 Skyraider ground attack aircraft (Built on the AH-1W).....IMHO these are very, very cool, the mighty @37mm has imported custom sounds for when these guys come screaming in to the attack! (they are activated in game by use of the [spad] tag)
  13. Game-engine gripes aside, let's continue: Little do our heroes know, but a large force of communist patrol boats has also entered the bay! PS - Forgot to note that these vessels and those in my preceeding post are activated by the [amphib] tag (the Imperial patrol boats are BMP-2s, the Communist vessels are BRDM-2s). This scenario is also set in the 60s/70s Bong-Hai Civil War, by using the [bhcw] tag.
  14. 23rd Patrol Flotilla, Bong-Hai Imperial Navy, enters Wai-Bong Bay on the hunt for communist shipping: Just a quick test of our 'Riverine' capabilities, on a map designed for the job.....Mostly to work out timings, as I've never scripted a scenario where all the vehicles are always swimming, so I have no idea how they will behave with the various AI movement orders. For realism's sake all the AI movement will probably need to be Quick or Dash, to avoid the default stop/start behaviour (which AFAIK is not often seen in boats). PS - I'm already running into issues with this scenario concept due to Battlefront's INSANE belief that Syria has not yet discovered radio communications. @Battlefront.com.....It's about time this travesty was put right. PPS - My assumption has always been that BF in turn made an assumption.....That NATO would jam the bejesus out of the Syrians. Fair enough for CM:SF1, but in CM:SF2 we actually have ECM/Jamming, yet the Red forces generally have almost no radios to jam (and Uncon forces have no means of communicating at a distance whatsoever, which is hardly reminiscent of reality). Let's make this clear, in CM, WWII Germans are better able to communicate than (fairly) modern Syrians.....That is just bloody silly IMHO, considering how poor/non-existent platoon level radios actually were in the Wehrmacht and how common radios (or mobile phones) are today.
  15. Um.....Nope, in CM:SF2 right now! TBH, they are actually amphibious APCs dressed up as boats, the map I showed is custom made for their use, in such a way that the player can't have his Pibbers crawl out of the water & up a hill! It's one of a few custom 'Riverine' maps that I will make for the pack in due course.
  16. Only ones that have been melted down and cast into IS-2s.
  17. Well, not QB maps, maybe: Hope so.....But I've never scripted for boats before!
  18. Yup, there's a fairly big 'bay' a kilometer or so down the coast.....USMC for the use of.
  19. I should have spotted your hand in the map sooner.....This scenario gave the hump to begin with (kept messing it up), but I was still in a CM:SF head-state, and as we already know (or have come to learn the hard way), CM:BS is a whole other game.
  20. This in spades! It's a big part of why the Soviets kept them around long after they became obsolete against tanks. The little 45mm AT gun was pretty mean too, but I'm not sure it's quite as mobile in CM as it was in real life. Oh yes.
  21. The Soviet Way! TBH I could have sworn I've seen Soviet units using Panzerfausts in CM:RT already, but I might just be having misty memories of long gone battles in CM:BB (which was a truly awesome game in it's breadth & scope).
