  1. That's why I said "the only high-altitude fighter they had during the war." I didn't refer to any particular time period. Quite capable? Seriously, where are you drawing this info from? The La-7 topped out at 6000 meters and was a low-mid altitude interceptor. Yak-3? Shorted-ranged, low-medium altitude, lightly-built fighter. It sure as heck wasn't designed to take on enemy bombers at 30,000 feet. You're giving Soviet fighter designers far more credit that they deserve.
  2. The only thing that's comical is your idea that the Soviet Air Force was somehow prepared to deal with legions of strategic bombers and fighters that ruled the high-altitude skies. It flat-out wasn't. The only high-altitude fighter the Soviets had during the war worth speaking of was the MiG-3, and that thing was phased out fairly quickly in favor of more Lavochkins, LaGGS, and Sturmoviks. Make no mistake, the Soviet urban centres would have been reduced to ashes in short order, had there been a war against the US.
  3. Save your time. It ain't' happening.
  4. You really want to go there? P-51 service ceiling: 12,800 meters, max speed 708 km/h at 7,600 meters P-47 service ceiling: 13,100 meters, max speed 697 km/h at 8,839 meters La-7 service ceiling: 10,450 meters, max speed 661 km/h at 6000 meters Yak-3 service ceiling: 10,700 meters, max speed 655 km/h B-29 service ceiling: 9,710 meters And that's to say nothing about max range, level of training of American pilots versus Soviet, etc. Bottom line, the Soviet fighter air force of WWII was not, repeat not, an airforce set up for high altitude combat, because it was irrelevant to their doctrine. Their doctrine by war's end was to cover their Sturmoviks and to interdict the German's fighter-bombers which (surprise!) operated at low altitudes. ...at low and medium altitudes., yes.
  5. Soviet fighter aircraft were designed for low- and medium-altitude tactical combat, and thus would have literally been gasping for air at the altitudes where the B-29s roamed. It's a similar problem the Japanese ran into and why the Germans looked for a replacement for the radial-engined Fw 190.
  6. Ok, longer reply: I appreciate the work that goes into creating a mod like that, but without proper 3D models for Japanese troops, weapons, Marine Corp forces, and other items like TOE and Japanese voice acting, it just doesn't do it for me. Same goes for under-the-hood weapon modeling - ballistics, ammo loads, total absence of bayonets, etc. In sum, there would be too much suspension of disbelief for me to enjoy it.But hey, if you like it, have at it. I was just voicing why the mod doesn't do anything for me.
  7. It's all good and well to advertise your mod work, but this really isn't the thread topic for it.
  8. Hey guys, here's a bright idea: why don't you pay attention to the rules of the forum and keep the politics out of it?
  9. Eh, but when it comes down to it, you're just fighting against British troops playing pretend Japanese forces with that mod. No thanks.
  10. Why does it matter to you in the end? BFC ultimately decides how to spend their time and resources on improving the game. The data presented by @Drifter Man is based on good, solid observations - the sort of thing that makes the game better.
  11. You recall incorrectly. Assad is assumed to be in charge of the country during the game's time frame.
  12. Some yes, some no. AT guns, for instance, do have a concealment bonus if they are not moved from their positions at mission start.
  13. For goodness sake, this a screenshot topic. Go and start a new topic with those sorts questions.
  14. Sounds like you need a new hobby if this one makes you that upset.
  15. Would it kill you guys to stay on-topic for once? You know, there is a General Discussion forum down below.
  16. @Sasa Narinasa, it's poor form quote that massive post like that, especially when you're just typing a one-line reply.
  17. LoL, ok. That's the benefit to having radios - faster communication. This isn't the Napoleonic Wars with messengers on horseback.
  18. Look at the stickied threads in this forum. It's all discussed there.
  19. IIRC Steve has mentioned it would be too much work at this point to unify everything under one base game.
  20. http://www.janes.com/article/75790/over-half-of-bundeswehr-s-leopard-2-mbts-are-not-operationally-ready Anyone know more about this?
