yes, Whitakers´ Rhineland is an excellent read on Veritable and Blockbuster. This one´s among my most inspiring sources.
Another most recommended read (and PDF download):
The victory campaign - the operations in North-West Europe, 1944-1945 by C.P. Stacey

title says it all really. Should be a good source for scenario designers and moders.

jtsjc1 reacted to WhiteWolf65 in Off topic, an apology
Good afternoon,
I wish to formally apologize to the administrators and all members of the forums. When I was hospitalized they had to put me on Prednisone to protect my kidneys. In addition to the attack on my lungs and heart, I also had an acute kidney injury caused by the fluid that had built up in my body. For those of you that are not familiar with this drug, it is a steroid and a nasty one too. One of the side affects is aggression which I have been experiencing since all of this has happened to me. I took my last dose of this drug yesterday. I also saw my primary care physician yesterday and asked him how long it will take for this drug to clear my system. He told me that it normally takes about a week to ten days to clear a person's system because the liver has a hard time filtering it out of the body. So for the time being I am going to try to keep a low profile when posting or commenting on posts. I really enjoy this group and would hate to be banned because a drug is causing me to be an ass.

jtsjc1 reacted to WhiteWolf65 in Spearhead....a must read
Hello all,
I highly recommend "Spearheard" by Alan Makos. It deals with two tankers during the final battles of World War II in Belgium and Germany. I am just now getting to the part of the book dealing with the battle for Cologne. My God, what an awful fight that must have been. There is a lot of good factual material and maps that can used tp make for some very interesting scenarios. Again, I highly recommend this book to any one interested in the final days of World War II on the Western Front.
Cheers

Ha! Thanks. I had to hack that sh*t with a weed wacker. Last week I looked like a hedge hog gone mental. Strategic chopping and a few hair ties got the majority of the mess under control. It's amazing what your face can do when you let it run rampant for six months!
Mord.

Also, can't resist sharing this video, since I know many people here would enjoy it as much as I did. CBS just uploaded it yesterday: CBS Reports (1964): "D-Day Plus 20 Years - Eisenhower Returns to Normandy"
It's 90 minutes of Cronkite interviewing Eisenhower as they visit many of the famous Normandy landmarks. (Omaha Beach, Pointe du Hoc, Sainte-Mere-Eglise, cemeteries, etc.) I've read a pretty good amount about D-Day and the subsequent push through France, but I still learned some interesting things... and also saw some footage I'd never seen before, despite having watched probably hundreds of WW2 documentaries.

jtsjc1 reacted to General Liederkranz in Building Protection from Tank HE shells?
It reminds me of the Critical Hit rule in ASL where a lucky hit can reverse the Terrain Effects Modifier, turning a solid building into a deathtrap. Solid stone walls are great if they're between you and the shell burst, but if you get unlucky and the shell comes in a window then the walls just make the blast worse (or so ASL leads me to believe).

jtsjc1 reacted to Heirloom_Tomato in Allah's Fist Scenario Terrain Issue
There is a minor issue the scenario Allah's Fist. It appears when a reinforcement arrives in impassible terrain and remains stuck for the remainder of the scenario. I have moved the unit in question over 1 action square and now it is able to move freely. Here is a link to the updated scenario:

I will pass this up the chain of command and hopefully it can be included with a future patch for CMSF2.

Excellent video thanks. Great to see this being played. Your video was a masterclass in applying the principles of maneuver, mass an economy of force. And a superb cinematic experience. Thank you.
