  1. Correct me if I am wrong Stoneage, but I thought from previous discussion that your tool could make the necessary adjustments to recreate a map and replace the tiles as needed if you simply do a find and replace on the csv file. Did I just mis understand or would that characterization be correct? Not that I understand why a CMBN map would need to move to CMFI for example. Terrain is so completely different, what would be the point? On the other hand I had been working on a map for Schmidt in CMBN I'd love to be able to port to the bulge module when it comes out. When is that now, next week?
  2. LOL the single biggest announcment day for you guys in like...well ever and you are saying you are keeping a bit mum. Why? I am already on overload and probably couldn't digest anymore anyway.
  3. I'm sobbing like a fricking moron at a sappy movie. Man when you guys decide to shut up the naysayers, you certainly go about it right, like a baseball bat to the choppers. I am sure we will hear from the usual suspects how BFC just inflicted all this financial hardship on their customer base by releasing too much stuff... heh heh heh So the date is the anniversary of Bagration AND you just happen to mention that may be the first East front Game - coincidence?
  4. LOL yeah really, well i think they have answered all that. Amazing what a little patience will get you eh. Damn it is a good day. pre ordered a new CM game and have others already on the hit parade for the next 12 months. It's a great day to be a fanboi.
  5. Holy Crap! Christmas is coming early! Geez guys take a bow, this is just simply amazing.
  6. Shock and awe! Far too cool guys, you really weren't kidding when you said big. pre-ordered woohoo with the tin can!
  7. LOL None of our opinions matter much. Anyway all we have is a couple screen shots and the beginning of an AAR. We don't really know what it means yet.
  8. I think we are in that weird time zone gap. Hell I am in India so they are catching the far east and West Coast USA, probably planned it that way. It explains Steve being up in the middle of the night... but then again maybe that is normal for him.
  9. whoa there! It was purely accidental, I thought it/he was a water cooler. Don't be starting any rumors about Charles and I that I will have to disclaim in the Weekly World News. (though he was gonna have my alien baby love child).
  10. Let me guess, it was the windmills wasn't it? Just couldn't get them modelled well enough to forestall the howls of protest so just decided "screw it, let's do Sicily...." On with the AAR, thanks guys!
  11. Well being a fanboi, I'll likely have to extol it's 1:1 realism and ballistic modelling over whether it shadows correctly as it arcs into the distance. The rasperry I think may be a hint of these guys spending too much time at a trappist abbey sampling the ales. Perhaps that is a clue that they are in Belgium and working on CM Bulge already.... right Steve?
  12. Man I am so sorry. I read all this and all I could think of was Eeyore.. you know from Winnie the Pooh?
  13. 4 posts in this thread? OMFG I think we need to start a new thread trying to guess what it means that we have a fresh sighting of the mysterious Loch Ness Steve CMx3 is pre order tomorrow? CM-MG is .. pre order tomorrow? BFC has been purchased by Microsoft as a secret plan to undermine another advocate of Open GL and CMBN will be re released as M4 Tank Platoon Good to hear you are alive, now get back to work and stop goofing off by the water cooler. Oh wait that's no water cooler, hi Charles. Umm yeah I'll umm just uhh pour this back in there... excuse me Damn how embarrassing is that? gurgle Yeah I'll umm go get a towel
  14. Thanks sfhand, nicely informative article, enlightening sounds about right..and on top of that it makes this forum sound absolutely positively upper crust English debate school nice when you read down in the comments section! Seriously, for someone oblivious to the background and history it makes it a little clearer why BFC would have chosen the route they have. Dang maybe these guys really do have a clue what they are doing and aren't just throwing darts....
  15. Here are a few more from Broadsword including the 4x4 master for the St Lo Campaign. The master has notes on it as it is not fully detailed, but rather a base map to work from. http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=314&func=fileinfo&id=1609 http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=314&func=fileinfo&id=1638 http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=314&func=fileinfo&id=1438
  16. Hope you have at least got a sleeping bag then to cushion sleeping on the floor.* *assuming you are still allowed indoors.
  17. That was pretty much the assessment Broadsword and I had of our Hamel Vallee fight. The American artillery got too far ahead of the infantry assault allowing the German defenders to sort themselves out and prepare. I tried the same fight but altered the timing of the initial barrage and was able to make a much more rapid advance against my own defense. The artillery didn't kill my units, but made them unable to counter the assault with suppressive fire and the GIs just rolled right over my forward defense. What I found though was I really needed to keep that barrage going to get past just the initial lines of defense. It takes a surprising amount of artillery to push through a defense in depth in hedgerow country. To the extent I know diddly squat about the real thing, it seemd a very good replication of how I understand the fighting to have gone. Achieving a breakout is damned difficult.
  18. outstanding, it'll be another week before i can download, but am looking forward to it.
  19. Was it Churchill who said "never have so few played so long for so little so monotonously repetitively..."? buy the game, try a different scenario for god's sake.
  20. Yeah I have had one opportunity taking on a wolverine in a wheatfield where a PF would have been ideal. Unfortunately it was a scout team that had none and had to try just close assault...they failed though they came pretty darn close. They are tough to use, but I am slowly learning what it takes to be able to use them. Shreks on the other hand, one of my favorite weapons. I'll take Shrek teams over ATGs any day. Particularly in bocage country.
  21. +1 My first pbem against broadsword featured a 50mm ATG that almost singlehandedly owned the center of the map until it ran out of ammo - against MG, tank and mortar fire. Also recently played JonS in Shadow of the hill and though he was eventually able to take out one ATG with a massive barrage, the second held out till the end and played a key role in holding my left flank. I do have to credit placement of that gun to the scenario designer however. Note the designer also created a map with depth to allow the gun to function as it was intended, not trying to remain hidden while firing at 200m. This strikes me as similar to the complaints about AT teams which Broadsword probably wishes were true as my shrek gunners continue to perform extremely well. I have seen more than a couple posts about folks using around 150m as their outer limit. For me that is well within my comfort zone.
  22. Please post to the repository and/or greenasjades site. We are always greedy for new maps.
  23. Telephony version- loose nut behind the console or ID 10 T error.
  24. You mean Apple pays Hollywood to like the MAC? In show advertising dollars are a nice deal. Used to be all you ever saw were AT&T/Lucent/Avaya phones till Cisco caught on. That was all you saw for a while on 24/CSI etc. You'll now see Avaya starting back again. yes as a phone geek I actually notice the phone types..... I used to love watching shows where they would show the White House and phones from wherever they picked em up. The US gov't used to be exclusively AT&T. They had a guy who traveled with the President and George Washington University Hospital had a dedicated portion of the cable frame to connect the System 75 that they traveled with..yeah I am dating myself there, but I doubt many of you will know by how much...until you google it.
  25. Ha no such luck. I am back in SJ now. 3 days of catching up on mods etc and a couple of turns in on Broadsword and my probable last battle of St Lo campaign... off to Chennai today for 9 days...can we say 110 fahrenheit every day...no we can't. It hurts to even think about. The upside is when I get back it is for a bit longer.
