  1. WeGo always. I just can't pass up being able to review the action. We have a fair amount of complaints about things the TAC AI doesn't do well and some of them really are problematic, but 90% of the time the TAC AI is doing really well and you don't quite appreciate how well if you can't stop and smell the action. In a recent game I was trying to assault a house with a German LMG team in it. Watching how they moved and reacted switching windows to take different parts of my force on fire was pretty cool. Also I think WeGo forces you to slow down and think before you commit, you can't instantly react. I actually like that loss of control. It takes at least some little bit of the player as god aspect out of the game.
  2. Too old to rock n roll and too young to die.
  3. You may actually be experiencing two different issues. The first sounds like something going on with the file naming that CM does automatically in the process of running a PBEM game. I have not experienced anything like that. The second Ian is referring to in the linked thread is a confirmed issue and has been reported. It is specific to using QB maps.
  4. Honestly I don't know for sure, but I think you are on target here RB. One of the issues with most statements about what BF should or shouldn't be doing made on this forum is that they are done with a complete ignorance of whether they reflect the reality of the company. Nothing wrong with wishing something, but it helps in the long run for your own sanity to wish within the constraints of the possible.
  5. I have never had an issue with the repository on that. There is a sort capability. Is that not working for you? Order By : ID | File Title | Downloads | Submit Date | Submitter | Author
  6. Really? Not even this? (my highlight for those of us needing reading glasses) I am in the midst of looking up home care for my Dad, should I do some research for you as well?
  7. Oh sure, blame it on the Marines. You sure you don't suffer from Tourette's?
  8. most of my pbems go with elite, playing the AI I tend to go Iron. Kind of a handicapped setting. (It helps if you don't mind losing ) I don't know that there is any standard though, it is purely up to you and your opponent.
  9. damn that looks good. And I was doing pretty good about waiting for the bulge game, you just ruined my personal calm. LOL
  10. Ha this is far more widespread than that. Anyone notice both female leads in Memoirs of a Geisha are Chinese? Have any idea how much that irks Japanese? Granted both actresses are very good and were coming off Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, however Japan is not exactly short of good female actresses.
  11. Beware of loading that one LOL, IIRC I felt I was in the midst of a testosterone loaded frat party.
  12. crap this looks like I am going to have to have still another game running, but it is at least not a commitment to another human. Schultz you might want to talk with Mord. I don't have a clue on the briefings, but with the icons he put on the repository I assume he does.
  13. 3 pics from the latest battle of Broadsword56's St Lo campaign, the battle for La Luzerne. This particular battle is a full on assault by US forces against a fortified Chateau where the German company has literal stand and die orders. If they fall, the Americans may have a breakthrough to St Lo. The battle is not going well for the Germans. American artillery destroyed the key defensive fortifications in the Chateau, but German holdouts in the rubble still managed to inflict many casualties. The German defense is collapsing but these few shots testify to the sheer tenacity of the defense. Two Shermans moving forward to the left of the remains of the Chateau. The entire building has collapsed into the basement, leaving a rubble strewn pit. Note the Shrek round about to strike the lead tank. It was fired from a long way away by a team on the move. The round will take out this vehicle. A view from the rubble of the Chateau. This area around the barn to the right in the picture has been a pitched battle for over half an hour at least. There are I think 5 Shermans wrecked in the vicinity as well as a number of German and American infantry casualties. The area behind these tanks is covered in minefields, wire and tank barricades. Engineers were not able to clear it with all the artillery and MG fire so the Americans had the unenviable task of having to just bull their way through. I have had only a few glimpses through the smoke of GIs leapfrogging forward, not enough to do justice to just how tough they have been. Same turn to the right of that same barn. In the background is a burning Sherman, one of 3 that have tried to force the road against a StuG positioned in ambush. The smoke above the barn is from one of the others. This Sherman was moving into a flank position when a Shrek team fired in support of the StuG. Armored covered arcs rock!! 2.0 was worth that alone in just this battle.
  14. One thing I have generally found. If I kill the TC in built up terrain, most times the Tank will pop smoke and/or reverse the hell out of there. With few exceptions, if I pop the guy I haven't usually had to pay the price for it. A lot of it has to do with the quality of the crews. I wish BF would actually call the green guys regular. I wouldn't feel so bad at assigning them and they tend to react much more how I'd expect troops to behave under the stress of combat. Broadsword has just been telling me about tank crew behavior in our current battle and a propensity to bail rather quickly when suffering casualites. Granted these aren't generally to small arms fire however.
  15. Automatically? That could be a disaster. Suppose you had them there to prevent an infantry rush and instead a tank blunders by and they shoot the TC then vacate the position. Now suppose the enemy have the rear of the house in LOF, you are now going to vacate right into an ambush. These kinds of scripted responses to limited tactical issues will likely create more headaches for you than the current behavior. As to TC exposure. If you send your tank into range of enemy infantry unbuttoned, prepare to pay for it. Just a simple fact of the battlefield. I think all of my opponents know I will definitely take the shot despite the risk. The return is just too good. If I suspect the opportunity is going to arise I may give my unit a pause and then try to bug out after 30 seconds or so but those are my orders, not a TAC AI thing.
  16. Amen to all that brother. I couldn't have said it better myself even if I hired an expensive ghost writer. Although I would caveat that in that CMSF is a friggin awesome game, I didn't have to wait all that long. Still I was really hoping to see CM returning to ww2. That there will also be a CMSF 2 (and next year!! You believe it? Just next year!!) just blows my mind--though perhaps that isn't saying much. :-P I have given up on those who are too hyped on the cost. If it were money for nothing, yeah I could see griping, but this IMHO is simply the best game series out there bar none. Value for the money I couldn't even estimate. It is simply too early, but there aren't many games out there that will keep my interest on a daily basis for a year and a half and that is only just getting started.
  17. Got it, thanks agusto. I do see the issue and I think Steve already has an idea what it is as noted above. Thanks for catching and posting.
  18. agusto, I'll pm you with my email, can you send me a copy of the game file save if you have one?
  19. We keep hoping...... Too bad Steve is probably too busy enjoying Christmas dinner to bother. One hopes he feels completely sated soon and decides to peek at what kind of inane s**t we have come up with now. Boy won't he be surprised, it has nothing to do with MG fire, mortars or the price of an upgrade.
  20. I am still wondering what this has to do with CMBN, we getting a special ToE of infighting gamers? I don't recall any such group amongst the KG pulled together to counter MG.
  21. sweet! I remember a similar effort from CMx1, but this is better.
  22. Word of caution, the world's sexiest man has warned that any overflights of N Korean airpsace will unleash a torrent of fire on the N Pole. Santa has been warned. Umm Merry Christmas
