  1. page 121 of the game manual goes into detail on it, maybe more complicated than need be. There are two locations 1. In the game folder itself there is a file DATA. 2. In the (assuming you are on windows) in the user data folder Why 2? Has more to do with game structure and windows, but the net result is something you can take advantage of. If you have multiple installs of say CMFB you can do game specific mods by using the Data folder (say graphics for a specific unit like the 1st ID). Generic mods you want for all installs go into the user data folder (sound, explosions etc) In either case create a Z folder in to insure your files are loaded over default. If you keep them in the Z folder it 1 - insures CM won't over write them and 2. You can easily pull all your mods to prove they are not causing an issue if you have any.
  2. That was not the Sniper, that was Superman coming to rescue Lois Lane who was being held in the basement.
  3. I think I just issue different commands in urban settings. I do not hunt around buildings. It does little to avoid an ambush. I move quickly from cover to cover and try to be sure and have eyes on the destination I am gonna move to next . My goal is to be out of the open as quickly as possible. Pixeltruppen who pause even to run back the way they came are usually dead pixeltruppen. If I am really nervous about how exposed they will be in their next move I start looking to see who has smoke grenades.
  4. I don't one to derail this but his source citing is typically unreliable as noted above. To cite him as a reliable source compared to someone like @shift8 is just way off base. I truly do not intend to insult John but it has been noted repratedly that he does not vet the resources he links to. It is simply a flood of data frequently from very questionable sources. It is what it is and in a very detailed technical discussion one does need to consider the historical reliability of a source and not just consider all views as equal. This is not about any commentary on his activities outside this forum, that is not relevant here.
  5. The problem is your statement implies equal responsibility to both. If I go to punch you and you physically resist me, yes we are both using violence. We are not however even remotely equal. The aggressor holds responsibility for initiating violence.
  6. I can agree with quite a few things you've said, but this not so much. BF focuses their limited resources in a way they feel makes the most sense for their business and ya gotta admit their longevity is impressive. Suggesting they allocate their resources differently will get you nowhere. Helping to contribute to their reach however is extremely welcome.
  7. You are missing a patch or did them in the wrong order. Here is the CMSF install instruction from BF. I've done this maybe a half dozen times so can say with confidence it works. Here is the correct way to reinstall CMSF and its modules (as of patch v. 1.32): Install CMSF, do NOT license it if it is a Battlefront version. Install the v. 1.10 patch for your distribution (Battlefront or Paradox). This step is sometimes not needed if you have the Marines module, but bundles that include the Marines module may not have all of the necessary files that are part of the v. 1.10 patch. If you have the Marines module, install it now. If you have the Marines module, launch CMSF and use the Marines license key to activate (this activates both CMSF and the Marines module). If you have the British Forces module, install it now. If you have the British Forces module, launch CMSF and use the British Forces license key to activate it now. Install the v. 1.21 patch. Make sure to make the correct selections for the modules you have. Making an incorrect selection will result in modules disappearing or license key requests for modules you do not have. If you run into this problem reinstall the v. 1.21 patch again and make the correct selections. You must install the v. 1.21 patch BEFORE installing the NATO module. If you have the NATO module, install it now. If you have the NATO module, launch CMSF and use the NATO license key to activate it now. Install the v. 1.31 patch. Make sure to make the correct selections for the modules you have. Making an incorrect selection will result in modules disappearing or license key requests for modules you do not have. If you run into this problem reinstall the v. 1.31 patch again and make the correct selections. Install the v. 1.32 patch. Make sure to make the correct selections for the modules you have. Making an incorrect selection will result in modules disappearing or license key requests for modules you do not have. If you run into this problem reinstall the v. 1.32 patch again and make the correct selections.
  8. strange review. in addition, rocket launchers are available for mounting on the Sherman tank to create the Sherman Calliope which is a first in any simulations I’ve played. Did I miss something? Is the Calliope in CMx2?
  9. Yep iron mode all the time. I find as @MOS:96B2P says - it is the only mode that gives you the full picture of how your unit is functioning not just in terms of C2, but also it's overall isolation. This becomes really important in dense terrain.
  10. Your guys are hopefully covered by another team in overwatch. If not your boys are gonna get shot in the back as they try to run away. Better to go to ground and let your support do it's job. If you don't have anyone in overwatch you screwed up. I am speaking from experience ? Fortunately my pixeltruppen don't seem to hold it against me.
  11. I do find it interesting that the ONLY info coming into this thread on a regular basis is from Haiduk (thank you very much Haiduk and please keep it up). To Kinophile's point the only participation from folks here presenting a pro Russian side is to constantly challenge any data that impugns Mother Russia. Part of me can't help but feel that is because if the pro Russian side started actually ponying up with their side's data we'd all spend the rest of the day giggling over the sheer stupidity of the alt facts world. I for one would actually like to see the alternate perspective. I fully expect those would be challenged just as they challenge Haiduk- let's see you guys defend your sources.
  12. oh good god don't start having everyone marking "fair use" on their quotes. And no it isn't necessary if it is a public source unless you intend to write a paper on long ass names of the world.
  13. The upgrades are for pervious purchases. If you buy CMFB now, the version you download will be fully up to date. That is true for most titles (CMFI is in the process of getting that treatment, CMSF is an older title you'll have to patch) Regarding the history, to a degree yes, but it is not directly a digital version of ASL. Neither historically or in game design. This is especially true for CMx2, the current family of games. You'd have to google for some of Steve's discussions on the history of Big Time Software for the full history. As to complexity, what others have noted is spot on. You can make it as complex as you want. Personally I like getting down in the trenches with my pixeltruppen. I split squads routinely and micro manage their movements rather than rely on commands like "assault". You don't have to, it is a matter of choice The game rewards patience and attention. Take a run at the demos and you can can decide for yourself if it is for you.
  14. At 13 posts? If you are trying to be annoying you are really gonna have to work at it harder. Personally the CMBN big bundle is gonna have enough to keep you busy for a really long time and it has a ton of variety. Hell I pre ordered CMBN and still have yet to play through everything. That gets my vote.
  15. So I'm like the wrath of God. Cool! And by contrast you are what? Montezuma's revenge?
  16. "We"? If by that you mean the Peng thread had funnier comments by others and you were funnier looking then well yeah maybe (though recent polls indicate you are still funnier looking now. And that comes from someone wearing a doodie cap. - As Trump would say "sad".)
  17. Dude you are so far off on the actual state of America it isn't even funny anymore. Stop watching RT, it is just a bunch of BS. And I am likely older than you which means my tolerance level for stupid bs is pretty low. Get educated and stop spouting nonsense and you'll get more respect. That was for Ashez not you Michael, but you can get the hell off my lawn too - hippy
  18. Errr tell that to the Czar and his family. You really need to try a different medical regimen dude, you are hallucinating again. See New York during 911? It didnt exactly implode.
  19. Fixed - Geez I am gonna have to charge you for services if you keep making me do corrections.
  20. exactly as NATO took Kosovo... errrr what? Russia occupied and annexed Crimea as part of Russia. What NATO country is Kosovo a part of again? I looked at a map and it isn't clear. Umm Austria? Greece maybe. Troll
  21. if it makes me more accepting of bull**** you may be right.
