  1. lol I hear that. I have a dedicated drive for CM installs and another drive for all the mod files, scenarios etc etc so they don't tie up space if I am not actually currently using them ?
  2. Cmx2 is in no danger of imploding. end of message
  3. Just watched the BBC show The Robbery on the Great Mail train robbery of 1963. One of the robbers turns out to have been a veteran from Arnhem. Jimmy White – With the other robbers on the run and having fled the country, only White was at large in the United Kingdom. White was a renowned locksmith/thief and had already been on the run for ten years before the robbery. He was said to have "a remarkable ability to be invisible, to merge with his surroundings and become the ultimate Mr Nobody." He was a wartime paratrooper and a veteran of Arnhem.
  4. you'd need first some real info on how often any of this was done for BF to consider. There is also still a module for CMFB to be done to bring it to end of war. Other than a model what type of documentation is there on frequency? The culin cutter had a profound and documented impact on the fighting in the hedgerows. I can't say I have ever even seen an actual pic like what is modelled above.
  5. welcome aboard mister negativity. We have a special cabin set aside for you otherwise known as the head.
  6. Understood, but last person I knew of in Saudi Arabia not mentioning wahabism was Trump, but yeah let's drop it before this thread gets closed over stuff like this that just goes round and round.
  7. Yeah there is a lot of "boom" in this one. I give it an A+. Amazing that after all these years folks still find ways to stretch CMSF even further. You guys did an incredible job. Size of map, incredible detail in design elements, some really cool fresh ideas that I won't ruin with a spoiler here. This is one of the most immersive "OMFG" moment filled scenarios I have played in a while. Kudos to the team. Finish the polish and release it. CMSF may be feeling it's years but it still delivers in ways it's younger siblings can't. In the spirit of ISIS we cut off Siskel and Ebert's thumbs and hold them up. Okay yeah that is kind of a gruesome stretch, but hey I have been brutalized by my experience playing this scenario. ? ? ? ?
  8. the pre snowflake era. heh yeah all this is the fault of liberals. sheesh I took you as one that was better educated than that. I suppose climate change is also not real?
  9. So have those alligator clamps left any scars? Not that we care, make em dance!
  10. oooh paste them on! Can I turn the rheostats?!!! Watch dalem! Let's make 'em twitch!
  11. Speaking of Mout, what news are you getting there on Marawi?
  12. Found a document link within the one you posted LLF with details of the Sadr city fighting. Some is repetitive, but I think some additional details as well http://www.rand.org/pubs/occasional_papers/OP335.html
  13. Yeah it always does my heart a bit of good when Steve reaffirms the plan to do CMSF2
  14. cracks me up to see this thread heading down the doom and gloom route. Does anybody here actually have any hard numbers on BF sales and financial health? No? I didn't think so. Any insight into BF long term plans? No? I didn't think so. Let's all just calm down and trust that the company that has delivered for us for almost 20 years now hasn't suddenly gone dumb on how to remain successful.
  15. LOL yeah let's get back to the meat (and bone) of this thread. My opinion (based on absolutely nothing) is you won't see much change in CMSF regarding on the current situation. That will be up to designers and modders to reflect. CMSF was always a hypothetical war and I suspect BF will maintain as is. What is more interesting to me is what we can do with the new features on CM 4.0 that were just not possible in CMSF - maps with rivers and marsh land, overlays for more accurate and simpler mapping. Items like supply dumps that allow for VPs for uncovering enemy arms caches. Better AI plans that are reactive. I need to cover my keyboard with cling wrap, the drool is gonna damage it.
  16. Hey Rinaldi, Thanks, good info here. Interesting in that in this second save you can see that as units get a pinned result, shortly thereafter they make their move. This includes a unit that took no casualties and morale seemed to be okay. Gives me some thoughts on what to focus in on for a test.
  17. Whoot! The whole point of this thread was to get you to say that. Gimme gimme gimme, are we there yet?
  18. Dude we get you are mister negativity about CM, but the rest of us are quite happy with the product. We all have things we'd like to see added or done different, but put 10 of us in a room and you'd have 10 different priority lists and that will be true no matter what additional things BF adds. You want to be a downer, fine - just don't project your perspective onto us. If you don't intend to play it and don't like it, why are you here? There has got to be something better to do on a Saturday than hang out with folks and trash their interest. and you base that on what data? I am all for making BF rich and getting a better game but here we go again with folks in the cheap seats telling BF their business model is wrong, the hordes of tactical war gamers are just outside the gates if we'd only open them etc etc. Man it gets old and I am betting this thread is closed before too much longer. We've already touched on the old steam argument and that is a pretty good sign.
  19. Yeah someone else is coming from left field because this is such a lucrative niche....
  20. Hey Rinaldi, please send me a link, the more info and samples I can collect the better the odds are of a positive response
  21. I am still frequently playing the non up to date CMSF game released back in 2008 if that gives you any idea how much game time per dollar CM is worth.
  22. Heh - LLF you are risking a major tangent on your thread. Some things to consider regarding insurgencies - at Khe Sanh the US identified some movement of major NVA units prior to the battle by the use of sound mics. Now with drones and thermal imaging, a rural insurgency becomes a lot more difficult. Between that and rapid global urbanization, any insurgency is forced to move into an urban environment in order to stay hidden. The next big issue is supply and rear areas. The Taliban has Pakistan. The NVA had N Vietnam and Laos. The Syrian resistance has to some degree Turkey.
  23. To get the cm4.0 engine. You don't ever have to buy anything, but moving CMSF to cm 4 is a huge undertaking. It isn't going to happen on the cheap. Personally it is at the top of my to buy list, but I can understand why others might not be so inclined. As to how BF plans on doing it none of us really know. Until we hear something concrete from BF I wouldn't assume anything.
