  1. yes and no. I end up utilizing that team as a firebase to support other teams. It has as you noted a lot of firepower and can give a tactical option superior than a simple split team with a single MG. Be creative. Use it in conjunction with other teams and don't try and utilize it the same as a standard split team.
  2. stop already man, he bought it because his pbem partner was at 4.0. He already said he is just griping because of that. It's okay no need to drag him onto hot coals and apply the pincers. Hopefully soon this will be corrected and we can all find something else to stir our angst. Besides we have to be nice to him. If I have to apply to move to Canada I want friends who will vouch for me there.
  3. copy your save files off somewhere else. Even if you did a complete fresh build of a PC you should not lose your missions.
  4. 2.10 is current version and should not be crashing. CM in general is very stable. About the only time I can get a crash is if I am editing a huge map and going back and forth to 3d view. I have not had a scenario crash in I don't know how long and not on the general release version. I'd say you are running into some kind of conflict maybe even a hardware issue. BF can help you figure that out if you open a ticket. Not sure what website check means. What website are you referring to? This is from the battlefront website for the CMBS battlepack release in April Note that the data files needed for Battle Pack1 is contained in the new v2.10 patch. Everybody should install v2.10, however v2.10 contains no significant gameplay differences over v2.00.
  5. I run both in windows 10 so it may be a little finer than that. You have any software updates recently particularly to security programs? CMA and CMSF have different licensing set ups so it would not be totally surprising to see only those get affected.
  6. I didn't tell you about the wall I moved in my house. Seriously. Wasn't happy with how the space was arranged. Wife went on visit to family. The moment she pulled out of the drive I was breaking down lathe and plaster. when she got home just over two weeks later the new wall was up floor redone, new drywall including ceiling in and painted. ebook was far easier, cheaper and less confrontation with spouse (though she really did like the wall move) Funny story though. Years ago when I was just a wee lad. My dad was trying to patch a hole in a wall in our kitchen. It was lathe and plaster and his repair wouldn't stick... so he started tearing it out. My mom came home to find a mound of debris in the dining/kitchen room...... she started crying. Hence me wanting to finish BEFORE my wife got home. I loved my dad but I learned a lot from him about how NOT to do things
  7. they can when you have no more room in your house and you realize half your books you haven't touched in 2 years but there is no way in hell you are giving them up.
  8. ahh ebooks. Yes I do like occasionally having a physical copy. But now my book selection has ballooned and yet it still takes up the same space on my night stand...and I can "loan" a copy and not lose mine. The only time I will buy a physical book now is if it has maps, pics or other such that I want copy of (or if it is not available in ebook in which case - no it does not get loaned don't even ask). I love boarding a plane now and knowing I am dragging almost my entire library along. Flight delayed? More reading time.. ahhhhh That wall of books can now be a map wall...maps.....mmmmmmm We have one in the dining room that was hell to get, but now there it sits - 14th Century Paris. When the Templars still had a donjon there. Now they just have a plaque. And Emrys in case of fire you can throw the ebook reader at the window to break the glass - it is all kept in the cloud anyway
  9. Heh I got asked today by our business continuity team a series of questions about how different things would function in the event the "internet was down" and what would we do. I was so tempted to say "they'll function fine, I'll go the f*ck home and play combat mission till it comes back up." Yeah still doesn't answer your question, but I thought it was funny.
  10. It looks kinds like this Yeah I know that was kinda cruel. Gotta enjoy it though before photof*ckit ruins it.
  11. if you are downloading the current version off the website (which you can do if you have bought anything recently using that license) then all modules are already in the installer, you just have to use the shortcut activation icon to activate them. You no longer need download anything else. The installer is now all inclusive. DO NOT install any previous modules or patches, you will just be downgrading your game and confusing yourself. Run the full installer and activate. that's it.
  12. no worries and before this gets any more excitable, we all have our rage quit moments. If we didn't really like the game we wouldn't get emotional about it. Just hang in there. It is being looked at.
  13. to be brutally frank all the games (excepting CMSF) are at 4.0 and I still see plenty of threads of people still enjoying it. (for example see Ciembienne thread under CMBN) so the contention that it is completely unplayable is a subjective opinion. If it feels unplayable to you then it is unplayable to you. The issue is being looked at as has been noted. While April to now likely seems excessive to you, it isn't. It is not like BF can just say, huh you don't like that? Here it is fixed. Correcting AI behavior that may be an unintended consequence of other changes means understanding those changes, understanding how it affects other behaviors, figuring out how to correct and then test, verify if it is right , recycle if it doesn't etc. I can only suggest to be patient, it is a high priority as Steve has noted himself.
  14. heh I sympathize but I can't really see the whole story from the vid. It does look like the unit was starting to suffer suppression. Whether that is enough to have them vacate the position is another question. Good news is that is being looked at so if you are going to put the game down, just make it temporary. Keep an eye on updates.
  15. Yeah just look at the position of the gunner and compare to other Marder. There is no way the guy could perform his function like that. Sometimes the obvious really is true.
  16. considering the Tiger bug had the position of a crew member affect spotting I'd have to say yes. Looks like it's the gunner too. Submitting ticket
  17. I do wish passengers could at least return fire as they do in halftracks. Just sitting there wondering what flavor is that item in your box of chocolates while the guy next to you just got hit (and turned into a big red cross..) is... just weird.
  18. A while back Chris actually took the time to explain the technical reasons for it to me. Pretty much every game has it to some degree and now I find myself noticing it all over the place and feeling not quite so bad about the "cow patty slide".
  19. The set for it is supposedly one of if not the largest movie sets around. The Main Street is about 300 yards IIRC. They had vets who participated in the fight review it and they commented that it was accurate down to the graffiti. They did a really fantastic job of involving the vets to make sure they were telling their story.
  20. Ha I have actually re installed CMSF for various reasons maybe a half dozen times over last 2 years and have it down pretty good, but will be really glad to be done with that.
  21. I have mine on an SSD but I don’t know about moving it from one pc to another. I suspect it wouldn’t be quite that simple. What I do instead is simply keep the full installer on a drive. That has made reinstalling so simple that I don’t need to worry as much about moving it.
  22. I suspect that may be a setting you have for Windows 10. I don't load my CM games to C drive so I don't have an apples to apples comparison. I bought an SSD strictly for CM. If I check the virtual store location the only thing I have there is some Microsoft files. Do you have other stuff from your documents folder there besides CM?
  23. quick answer- run a scenario, make a save and then search recently altered files. Windows should tell you exactly where they are.
  24. Yeah you have to be very specific in developing a scenario as to what you intend to use them for. For example if they are being used for a recon patrol, your objectives may simply be to spot enemy units. That is an assignable option in scenario creation. The main reason I think you don't see that more is most players would probably object to it as boring cause they aren't out to kill something.
