  1. Considering the work required is no different than it was last year I don’t think anything said so far is gonna alter BF’s opinion but hey one never knows. Get Steve a few good Trappist ales and maybe he’ll change his mind.
  2. I think BF has been consistent on this one that they see no real desire to include. To Ian’s point this is a very specific feature in CMSF and one that was a constant in combat. It is a side effect to be used on a bridge. Bridge demolition in WW2 at this level was relatively rare so I wouldn’t look for this anytime soon if at all.
  3. When I lived in Roslyn I used to have to drive to Baltimore for a good gaming store. Probably a good thing on slowing the drain on my finances.
  4. If it came at no other cost it would be cool to actually see a mod before applying, but to your point there is a cost and yeah this one wouldn’t be on the top of my list at that point. I can accomplish the same by creating mod pack brz files of my own and applying them. Not as slick, but if I am gonna somehow have my wish list on BFs project plan I would pick things I can not do. Like a unit pack of Fulda gap units.
  5. Yep, the nice point of that is CMSF becomes the first title where you can blow up a bridge in your opponents face, but you don’t control when it gets blown. Your opponent has a say in that and can potentially eliminate the trigger man or otherwise render them incapable of acting. There is also a chance the IED will fail. It is kind of cool being a nice compromise that keeps the bridge in play.
  6. In reading the army”s review of the battle for Sadr city 2008 they discuss the assignment of some theater level assets to 3-4 BCT 2 predators and 2 shadows and how they nearly were beyond the capability of the BCT to make proper use of them.
  7. Yeah it wouldn’t be that bad if it didn’t then mess with the rest of the team. I haven’t had it happen in a long time, but it is annoying when it does. I put in a ticket a while back for another player who had a good save of the activity.
  8. Is that your plan for a new scenario? Have the player go through set up phase, hit the big red button only to be told you are now moving, start over. Combat Mission dig the latrine
  9. Well it is all subjective taste. I have GG war in the east and I have easily played every single CM title far more often. Nothing wrong with that game but trying to find a small scenario to try out is a lot more difficult and it is all 2D as well. It is essentially a board game utilizing a computer. Fun, but it is what is. Youll never get that “wow” moment that seems to be a recurring phenomena in CM.
  10. I don’t believe BF has set a price yet, they have only noted it will be discounted for those who had already purchased CMSF. Cmbs is a really good title and significantly different than CMSF reflecting the technology increases in the intervening years. I’d be hard pressed to suggest which to get. CMSF2 will have significantly more content but based on the old restrictions in scenario design. I really like them both. There is a lot more variety in units in CMSF if that is appealing. There is also the question of setting, temperate versus Middle East which does make a significant difference in feel.
  11. Wait and do it in the more capable editor.
  12. If you know you liked shock force and money is tight, I’d wait for CMSF2. I get that you have an itch to scratch, but for sheer volume of available content. CMSF is hard to beat, you already know you like it and very soon it should be at 4.0. If you actually have the ability to get 2 and want something else to go along with CMSF2, CMBN has far more content than anything else.
  13. Nice, best of luck there Hector. Hope that power situation and the whole services sector gets sorted out sometime soon.
  14. You are correct with one small but impotant factor. The leaves. This is where I think that occasional unbelievable spot factor comes in is the visual representation is not 100% and occasionally allows for some observations that don’t seem plausible. Are they an absolute regular occurrence, no.
  15. Hey not every title is for everyone. CMRT is one that doesn’t hit a real sweet spot for me. Uh oh seems there is a crowd forming outside with pitchforks and torches. Hmmm anyway one upside is CMSF2 is a complete package. Theoretically it won’t be competing for time once released.
  16. Pretty much everything Ian said and my experience with infantry in buildings has been almost completely the opposite.
  17. Yep you can put an image in the data folder and press “o” in the editor. You can set varying degrees to make the image clearer or fainter depending on you need. Works like a charm. Called scenario editor overlay.
  18. Believe me, it feels like a completely different game. So many things have changed that you can't even begin to go through them all - stupid little things like walls with gaps that weren't in CMSF. Map development will be a whole lot different with all the new capabilities. Moving flavor items with alt-click. Moving way points after you've placed them. Then you get into things like target briefly which didn't exist. BF reworked almost everything so yeah you have to buy it again at a discount. You thought it should be free? Damn I need you to come over and work in my yard digging trenches if you think labor should be free. Let me know when to expect you. The big items are ToEs, models etc and ALL the CMSF content that is available. However don't be fooled. the small things are what will catch you probably more than the big items. Try building a map with the same level of detail as the later titles and you'll quickly find yourself frustrated by what you can't do that you take for granted now. Ooh did someone say overlays? I get that everybody has their favorites and we all want our favorites at the top of the list, but those that revel in CMSF have waited the longest for an update over any other title. You've been waiting 3 years since CMBS release for a module? 4 Years since Gustav line for CMFI? It's been over 7 years since the NATO module and NONE of the version improvements have been applied to the BEST CM game. So get the hell back in line and wait your turn. If CMSF isn't your fav then so be it, but don't crap on those of us who have waited all this time as the LAST title to get 4.0. You know what the title will have. 4.0 and all the stuff that made CMSF what it is. Not to your liking? No one is making you buy it. However if like me you find CMSF as the most appealing game of the CM titles, then you really really want CMSF2. Even at full price it would be a deal.
  19. Damn that is so sweet of you.... in a really weird stalker kind of way...
  20. you recall correctly. No water, no bridges no lots of other things
  21. well the car was in the woods, so if it had done it in the car it would I think still qualify. However no, it was just from climbing all over the seats. Chewed a hole through the back seat because it apparently smelled something in the trunk. How it can smell anything over it's own stench is a freakin miracle. It found a pack of instant oatmeal, opened it and apparently didn't like it. The insurance company forms were fun to fill out, but they did pay for the window and replacing the seat. Oatmeal however was not covered.
  22. I'm a dead head and I hated the smell of that crap. That and clove cigarettes. That blank stare I had wasn't from the drugs, it was from wondering what the hell was going through folks heads that clove cigarettes and patchouli oil were found appealing. And a dead rodent in the wall ain't so bad. The live colony you keep though Emrys, geez man. Now you want to know what smells really bad? Besides Emrys? Bears. I had one break into my car in Yosemite. Had to drive back to SF with the windows down and my head out, damn things are rank.
  23. I don't disagree there. If you have bought the game, you bought the maps. If you move them between titles you own I doubt BF cares at all. They may not care one bit on the overall discussion either. This has been discussed enough on this forum that I would think if they had a strong position they would have stated it. For me personally it goes to the last point you made, distribution of maps to those who have not purchased the content. A lot of effort goes into their creation and the qb map plans. I think that distributing those is problematic, but again that is strictly my personal opinion.
  24. you really want 28 replies of don't know?
