  1. Dammit BFC! Don't you see what you're doing to the poor bastard? Get the Brits out the door and maybe he'll have a chance...
  2. I side with Jesus on this one. The interior abstraction works for me, there is honestly no reason to spend the development time to create a realistic house-clearing system in which you can actually watch your men properly stack-up, breach and clear every room. Partially because it's a huge waste of precious development time, and partially for the reasons c3k mentions at the top of this page. No doubt it would be cool, but nonetheless impossible(essentially) and impractical. So it must be said that the game, despite lots of 1:1 representations, will never be able to simulate the minutia and subtleties of actual soldiers. when we order a squad to a corner, they disperse as they see fit and watch a direction--this is completely satisfactory for me, because I know just how implausible it would be to have the soldiers get behind the wall, organize and stack up in exactly the way you wanted, have someone peak out to check if it's clear, and then have soldiers shifting quickly in and out of cover to trade fire from around the corner. WAY too much animations needed, WAY too much constant tweaking to get the behavior and reactions right, and WAY too much diversity in situations within the game for the squad to know how you want it to act at specific times with respect to the terrain, LOS, your assessment of enemy resistance, and your knowledge/suspicions of enemy forces and positions, etc. Although, new animations are always welcome . They are indeed quite essential in a game with as much 1:1 representation as CMSF.
  3. Reminds me of school, and actually anytime I get in front of a computer with serious work to do.
  4. Isn't that the famous "tank full of explosives" video? They loaded it up with C4 or sumfink to make the explosion huge and dramatic for propaganda's sake.
  5. My point is that the amount of M113s will continue to decrease as the amount of Strykers in service will continue to increase, it seems.
  6. Gotta love those 113s, nothing beats a tracked APC. And the upgraded armor means that it can hold its own in a COIN environment. Vehicles nowadays often have CROWS weapons mounts, very useful on the 113 methinks? In any case, it will always have utility as a useful vehicle for medevac, resupply, offroad etc. Nonetheless, no new variant is going to replace or out-do the stryker as the Army work horse.
  7. Are we thinking of the same event? I thought it was a Delta who was running across the street and a stray enemy round hit and detonated a flashbang that was hanging off his load-bearing vest. And btw, thanks Alan8325, AKD.
  8. In a largely irrelevant, and one could also say trivial motion, i would like to ask a question about in game grenades; How come the 40mm rifle grenades sound so wimpy when they detonate? It sounds like someone is just dropping a sledgehammer into the sand every time one of those 40mms impacts, is that what it really sounds like? Sorry if no one else seems to think that... but it's been bugging me since V1.0
  9. You don't like driving with more than 3 people in your minivan because a single RPG could cause a catastrophic kill with 100% KIA.
  10. One fully-loaded AAV. One PG-7 grenade. Catastrophic kill. This is why I use AAVs mainly as rear-line resupply depots. Virtually NEVER engage with them. In fact, my heart rate rises everytime I hear a boom when I know I got a loaded one sitting around somewheres...
  11. Ah, I still remember how I discovered Battlefront and the CM series. It was an innocent time; twas' my 12th or 13th birthday, and I had skipped school feigning illness, so I can spend the day relaxing in my older brothers room reading his Game Informer magazines and laying in the sun. And then, upon finishing the most recent month's issue, on the very last page, I saw a small picture of a 3D landscape, with Sherman tanks and such. The tiny article read, "Demo of the Month: Combat Mission: Beyond Overlord", with a short paragraph describing the demo and where one can download it. BOOM, that night the demo was on my hard drive. BOOM, the next day CMBO was payed for and being shipped to my house
  12. They aren't saying a whole lot about your video in particular, in fact, it seems like the post with your video is the only one mentioning anything about CMSF. The poster offers a few criticisms about CMSF and the conversation quickly turns back to a CMBB or CMAK tournament, the topic of how it started. It seems like someone suggested a CMSF tourny instead, and no one took interest. And for the record, my Russian is rusty and i only skimmed it.
  13. I do have to say, i like the attention to realism in the comic, especially when it comes down to the fact that Great Britain has a giant mustache.
  14. Actually, most of that is in the game. Off the top of my head, I think the day/night cycles, destructable environments in which rubble is taken into account, branching campaign is all already in. there is no fog or rain etc, but there will have to be in CM:N, and the interface and AI thing is just an opinion, really. In my experience, I didn't like it at all on first sight, but thats just because it looked very complex and I fear change there are improvements to be made though, but I have largely forgotten about its problems as i've gotten used to playing with it. The AI is pretty damn good, but from a customers perspective, it can always use an update
  15. I see, although naturally, this would've been impossible to pull on a half-competent human, especially if the M1s had any kind of infantry support. From the sounds of it, the M1s just came flying in alone, driving past buildings and leaving their flanks open to anything that could have been behind them. uhh... yes, i suppose.
  16. Unfortunately a flushed red bottom doesn't really compare to a pit full of dead conscripts :-( unless you actually managed to win the battle, did you?
  17. Woman can be useful when it comes to gaming, case in point: My ex-girlfriend bought me an 80GB Playstation 3 bundled with a game and extra controller. We broke up. I kept it
  18. Now I'm wondering if the differences between the ACOG and Aimpoint scopes are incorporated when the engine considers the effectiveness of the weapon in any way. Or are they only eye candy?
  19. Human wave style attacks... in an urban setting... onto known reinforced positions... just watch how many make it
  20. You may say that, but I know behind your keyboard there, you relish it to the point where you can't concentrate at work anymore. You love to let the rays of praise caress you as you soar blissfully in the sky that is your imagined success, like a young boy, soaking in the pleasure of finally receiving a pat on the back from his abusive alcoholic father.
  21. We are completely middle-class, with absolutely no pretentions about it. I used that phrase in the context of the British insult, or suggestion rather. here I am, trying to praise you for your feats of counterproductivity, and here you are, waiting to strike like a retarded cobra, regardless of what I say. I've learned my lesson, won't do it again.
