  1. OK, I have looked through all the mod posts and maybe I am going crazy but I cannot find that screenshot and I have looked through every post in the Modding forum (and most in the regular forum). The screenshot was of Russian vehicles and the icons were deep red with a yellow outline (Russian tank was a diamond in red without the traditional circle or square outline). I think they are similar to what had been used for the mod for Afghanistan. Does anyone remember the post (or perhaps did the posting) for that shot? I am looking for that mod for my Icons and I tried the Afghan mod but it only changes about 1/3 of the icons, the rest staying vanilla. The deep red with the yellow outline gives good contrast on the maps. Any ideas would be appreciated.
  2. Kieme, Is this just a hobby or do you do this for a living? I can only imagine the amount of time it would take me to get proficient enough to even attempt this. These are great and thanks for the effort.
  3. The game itself starts fairly fast, it is the loading of scenarios ( I should have said that in my post). I only have a 180Gb SSD and with my OS, steam games and CM, I am down to 18Gb of space. I am not sure if that would also cause problems but 5-7 minutes for scenarios to load seems like a very long time.
  4. I installed all (CMBN, CMFI and CMRT) on my C: SSD. I thought that it would assist in loading the scenarios faster but I have yet to see any improvement. In fact, some of my RT scenarios take as long as 5-7 minutes to load. Very frustrating as it gives me enough time to have my Tassimo make me a double-choco latte Frappuccino twice over.
  5. BF, Was there ever a final decision on whether you will be releasing the East Front as individual families based upon years or if you would be just release the years as individual modules for a common family? I know there had been some discussion but not sure if you reached a final decision yet or not.
  6. Chris, Not so much for Black Sea but for RT, would routing not be more appropriate than surrendering? I am assuming that surrendering was much less common at least in the RT time frame until the end of the war as more units would attempt to run back to their lines or is this just expediency for CM to simulate end results so they do not have to create new code?
  7. I do not even know who I am so if you know, please tell me. I was planning on visiting an ashram in India to find myself but I should have come here instead
  8. Steve, I do not disagree with you and it is your company so you can run it the way you want. I am also unfamiliar with how Steam works as a distributor so forgive my ignorance. What about for games that were released a long time ago? Could you release CMBB and CMAK through Steam or as a company are you obligated to release everything that you make through Steam once you sign up as a supplier of games? It would save me from having to keep my hard copies of these games on my shelf (along with the Win7 updates to allow me to play them). This may make some sense for games that have been around for a while (and I think I saw CMBO on GoG) as it would not cannibalize your sales of your current money makers (if this were allowed)
  9. Hey, I can post and my icon shows up and i did not have sign in 5 times to get this to work. yea, this is pretty sweet. - Can one propose amendments to the posted rules?
  10. I have two problems. I used to have no problems starting RT. After the patch, I started the game but it continually crashed. After moving Mods in and out about 20 times, I have figured it comes down to the mod for base textures. Of course I have renamed it to make sense of my filing system for all my mods and have no idea who has created it but it also has another folder inside for Ground Mini and another for Water. 1. Is there a high def mod for the base tiles that will now work for RT with latest patch? Another thing that is sort of irritating is when I try to sign in to the forums. I put my Name and PW and hit enter and it puts me back in the page asking for my ID/PW? It can take quite a few tries or me having to go to another BF page before it recognizes me and allows me to post. 2. Anyone else experience this problem? 3. Anyway around this? Jason
  11. Seeing that we have a large Ukrainian population, I am sure that Canada would also join in. But If the Germans and Brits are in there, you already have most if the equipment.
  12. Yes, another module encompassing the Chinese army. I would say that about 1/2 of this is already in and more so once Bulge is released. Most of the light weapons seem to be already present.
  13. Korea would be interesting. Initially Highly motivated but unfit N Koreans vs fit but unmotivated Americans. With add ons for Brits/Canadians/marines etc. would be interesting. Bazookas vs t-34/85s and even some armour actions
  14. John & 76, Thanks for the info. I may try it and report back if I do get the chance. With my reading list, that could be a while but your posts were interesting. My next quest is some on the Finnish war in English besides the usual candidates.
  15. Great! I now have another book Absolute War to nominate for my military book club. Currently, I am reading The Making Of Strategy as well as Tim Cooks new book The Necessary War and have found both fascinating. Tim Cook is a good writer and one of the few that tackles Canada at War. We actually had the honour of having him attend one of our book club meetings after we had finished his book At the Sharp End. Nice guy. I actually enjoy (maybe a strong word) Glantz as I am looking more for the material and not for the writing style. Substance over form, but then his books are not a night time read but more for my degree that I am working towards. I read some excerpts from Nigel Askey's Vol IIA from the website and the subject seemed interesting and the writing style suited me.
  16. Amazon has the first book for about $60 and Lulu.com had it on for $52 plus shipping. I think I will try to get the first book but it would have to be a major investment to get the 6 books in the entire series. I expect that would run a guy about $600 in the end. Try putting that in front of your wife on Friday night?
  17. I was browsing eBay and came across a book series that I was not aware of Operation Barbarossa: the Complete Organisational and Statistical Analysis Nigel Askey (multi-volume set) Has anyone seen or read this book. It is a bit pricey. It may be an interesting read but it does not even show up on my Canadian University Interlibrary Loan services.
  18. Steve, If having a lot of families is becoming problematic, is it possible to create an engine from a point in time forward which would then have all families and modules attached. Yes, you would have the CMSF/CMBN/CMFI/CMRT families but if the base engine was pulled out (so to speak) could everything from her eon out then be based upon that one base engine? Also, I like the idea of crowd funding or perhaps like some of the board game companies do with pre-purchasing. You need X amount of people and if you have them, then you charge the credit card and then use the money to fund the project. It may make something like France more palatable if you knew that 1000 of us were willing to pay $ to get it.
  19. Vencini, Yes, I find those triangles annoying and would like to see them gone. If real estate is precious, use it to expand the info on the lower UI. As for what I would like to see (unrealistically in near future) 1. France 2. North Afrika 3. Barbarossa 4. Korea (Now that would be interesting - something we have not seen before & many countries) As for what I would like to see (realistically) 1. Module for CMFI (want to play the Melfa and Liri Valley and recreate Battle Of Melfa) 2. Pack for CMBN (bring all weapons and units to right before Bulge) 3. Module for CMRT (need more variety and more scenarios) Not That Interested 1. CMSF Upgrade (very last in my list of wants) 2. BlackSea (I will buy it but it seems less interesting than the 1936-1960 stuff - more interesting operationally, less tactically)
  20. I have had both cards and none have given me any problems. Back in the old days when I was playing CMBB, the ATI card did not have the fog tables right but one day I updated the drivers and there they were but that was 8 years ago. I have had Nvidia (GT220, GT640) and now run the ATI 7850 and I have not really had a problem in the last 3 computer builds. Bang for buck, I would recommend the ATI cards but each time I buy a new card I always go through the reviews and see how they all compare. I play CMx2 about 70% of the time but also play Bioshock and Skyrim the odd time and it works great. One thing I did not notice is any type of improvement in using an SD for my OS and CMx2. It still takes forever to load a CMx2 game
  21. There are a few I would like to see converted (with modifications to make it enjoyable) A7 - Slamming the Door (Soviets vs Germans - 1941 - Russia) A18 - Sbeitla Probe (US vs Germans - 1943 - Tunisia) J29 - Captive of Balta (Soviets vs Germans - 1941 - Ukraine) G36 - Hill of Death (British vs Germans - 1944 - France) and the one CMAK scenario that would make a great scenario is CMAK - The Melfa Bridgehead (Canadians vs Germans - 1944 - Italy) I think G36 and the CMAK scenarios are actually doable with what we have (too bad I am crap at making scenarios or I would try to remake Melfa - perhaps whomever made it before might want to take a stab at it.).
  22. The T-34 is a small tank. Was in Berlin at the Soviet war memorial and they have two sitting on top of the entrance. I know it was only a 4 man tank but what were they? Circus clowns and horse jockeys?
  23. I should figure it how to take a screen shot. I had a IS-2 shoot at a running panzerschreck. The turn stopped at the end of the minute and you could see the shell just passing between his running legs. The luckiest man alive. (But would that have not at least melted his uniform on his legs?)
  24. This would be nice but more importantly, I want to ensure that winter weather is portrayed accurately. Wind squalls can whip up a large amount of snow and create a type of haze. This should also include ski troops to accurately reflect their use and need in deep snow. i.e. keep walking in deep snow and you get very tired very fast, almost like swamp.
