BF, You Blew It

And you are an expert on marketing knowledge? -
His bug report must be a satire. Very dry indeed.

Ammo - lots and lots of ammo...
Erik Springelkamp replied to xian's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Maybe the algorithm automatically reassigns part of the ammo from casualties to the other soldiers - apart from medical aid. Then the last survivors of a team end up with a lot of ammo, if they have spent ammo slower than they died. Maybe the ammo is not even recorded for individual soldiers, but only at the team level. -

Steve told many times that he knows that this is so. -
What other Languages?
Erik Springelkamp replied to Capt Cliff's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Yes, it is like CMSF in that respect. -

About two times slower, and a little more, as in TCP/IP WEGO you both plot and review at the same time, while in PBEM you take turns. Loading the new game file each time also takes time. However, you can always spam the forum while you are waiting for your turn. -
Realtime or WEGO or both?
Erik Springelkamp replied to Holman's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
OH! REALLY? -
There are some bugs that showed up with the demo that they probably want to fix before the final release, as they prevent people from playing, and that would mean a lot of extra burden on support if they don't fix it first. I guess it isn't entirely predictable how long that takes: two days or a week. So don't distract those BF workers right now with features.

It is probably so that a 10% increase in customers playing only against the AI represents more new buyers than a 100% increase in multiplayers. -
First Impressions
Erik Springelkamp replied to Sixxkiller's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
That is not what I implied. I think the formulation was quite careful. -
Hmm, not my experience. I get lots of foot forces for Mujahideen enemy. I am not saying that force selection in CMA is perfect, but I have played plenty of interesting quick battles in CMA (but you have to adjust your own force to a minimum, and the duration is often too short for built up areas).

You should be careful about the context in which you speak such sentences. Anyway, as has been explained on many places by Battlefront, just creating the regular army for the Germans was quite enough work for this first entry in the new game family. And the new revenue model implies that you will not get the whole shebang in one cheap game, but the content will be spread over a few modules, each of which will help to keep BF in business. -
Crew suddenly goes walkabout
Erik Springelkamp replied to umlaut's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Yes, a minor flaw is a flaw. I don't know what you want to say with this statement, because we already agreed that it was a flaw. -

the hotkeys file was created by Battlefront, not by modders. -

I would call it a minor flaw, as it is the result of a mistake you make yourself. And it is in the same category as: - no immediate undo split team (I wanted an AT team, now it is split in fireteams) - no undo for a Acquire special AT weapon, or the last batch of ammo We just have to live with it until they get their turn in the ToDo list. -
Trees+wind= massive FPS drop

Ah, like the English abroad who think that shouting in English makes it easier to understand for the natives? -

DaddyO, where on the ToDo/Wish list do you think this idea would land, if hasn't been added already, approximately? -

What is a gig today? You can pass it around over the net with the free version of dosbox. -
Trees+wind= massive FPS drop
Erik Springelkamp replied to ParaBellum's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Why, it doesn't bother me at all. I had rather they worked on WEGO-TCP/IP. But I also think they deserve a vacation. Maybe you should start a discussion in that other thread to tell them to shut up because BF has to fix your problem first? -
From the complete crew. Every crew member has limits (small slits) and enhancements (scopes) on his senses. These are connected to the real 3D positions in the tank. And they spread their attention according to patterns. At least, that is what I understood from an explanation by Steve some time ago.

That is not necessary, they work just as well in a sub-folder that is unpacked. -
Mod Tools Questions

Ask somebody with a Windows machine to send you the complete content of the game files as produced by rezexplode in an archive format. That is all you will ever really need from the mod tools. -

Nonsense. Years ago Steve already stated that he would very much like a replay and pause functionality in TCP/IP. -
Rar is a compressed file format, like zip. You may need to install a utility that understands .rar, just google for 'unrar' and you will find a free one. The .rar contains a .btt (or something else)
