When will Mac game work under Lion?
Erik Springelkamp replied to Michael56's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
I heard some terrible stories by people who upgraded to Lion. -
New modules? maybe Italy or France

Iran and Iraq have quite good political relations at the moment. A war between them seems unlikely. -
Request: More Floating Icons
Erik Springelkamp replied to Wolfe's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
They are close to the ground, because otherwise you could not see where the contact was. With what location on the ground does an icon floating in the sky correspond? For the same reason they overlap, while the icons of your own troops will displace each other up into the air, because you must be able to click on them at all times. -

Isn't it like that in real life as well? -
Will the new 1.32 affect saved games
Erik Springelkamp replied to Daroc's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
Make a copy of the CMBN folder before upgrading to keep that one at version 1.31, and finish your PBEM games there, or try to move them to the 1.32 version after saving them in the command phase. -
Isn't that turret on something parked behind the Jeep?

I checked two scenario's with Fuch vehicles and light infantry, Stolz von Bayern and Beer and Bretzels, and in both cases the infantry already carries the panzerfaust launchers, and the rockets in the Fuchs are extra ammunition. What scenario are you talking about?

improvements carry over from CMBN?
Erik Springelkamp replied to MikeGER's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
I just checked, but in the Bier und Bretzel scenario, the dismounted sections already have their Panzerfaust launchers. So the rockets are just extra ammunition. Nothing wrong there. -
improvements carry over from CMBN?
Erik Springelkamp replied to MikeGER's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
I certainly would, but I am afraid it would be a lot of programming work, as the whole OOB functionality, including C2, was changed between CMSF/CMA and CMBN, if I understand Steve's comments in the past. Backporting this change into CMSF, while keeping existing scenarios working would be a major challenge I am afraid. -
A new offensive is on the way in Libya http://www.economist.com/node/18958461?story_id=18958461&fsrc=rss These fights can probably be simulated with CMSF, but the news I am finding about is is not very technical. At least this Economist article speaks about Milan anti tank missiles for the rebels, but I couldn't find anything yet on the nature of the NATO assisted attack on Brega that was repulsed. If anybody has good sources on the fighting, could they provide a link here?

That is what the others thought. Until he came to get them. -
Patch??? Help?
Erik Springelkamp replied to Schlosskirche's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
You would have to sell your soul though. -
I think the overlap in both patches is very small. Most CMBN bugs are specific to new WWII features.

Before upgrading, copy your entire Combat Mission Shock Force directory to a new location, to be able to finish save games under the old version. Just start the old version by clicking on the .exe in the copied map, or make a short-cut to that .exe with 1.31 in the name. I think that is the way to do it, but didn't test it yet, copying is under way.

I renamed the icon files and the result is here: http://springelkamp.nl/Files/CMA/FloatingIconsRedBlueInverted.brz But it doesn't work fully. The soviet blue icons are correctly replaced by my (Billy's) red soviet icons, the general red (hq and mines) icons are correctly replaced by Billy's blue versions, but all the mujahedeen icons are falling back at the default icons. I don't know why, I checked the names with the rezexplode of the version101.brz, and they seem all ok, the icons named 'mujahedeen red' are the correct blue icons, but yet they don't show up in the game.

I very simple solution is to revert to the standard floating items for this scenario. As it is now, half my blue - Soviet - troops have the default icons, because there is no modded one available. If I remove the mod, everything will use the blue circles. But when I start up the Siren rename program, and figure out how it works again, I can probable produce a working mod in a few minutes by renaming red to blue and the other way around. I would even get red icons for blue soviets :-)
