Wart weren't you Puritans down on Christmas? I know you were in favor of bones though, especially seeing your enemies bones.

In Combat Mission players press forward despite casualties that would cause real life counterparts to call it a day.

Sequoia got a reaction from Josey Wales in No Gurkhas in the Indian army?
There's also no Greeks, but as far as I know this is the first game to offer Indian (including Sikh) and Brazilian forces at this scale. And there are South Africans, Kiwis, Free French, and Poles. It's sort of a glass half empty-glass half full sort of thing I think. Myself I some hope time gets put into bringing the Free French to Northwest Europe.

Sequoia reacted to mjkerner in Where are the Goumiers in djellaba?
Aragorn, I’m not sure, because there are a lot of different things to do; faces, beards, djellabas, plus there are different types of greatcoats to explore from different countries so that varying combinations of skins can be used. I’m not explaining things very well, because I had carpal tunnel surgery today and I took a painkiller about an hour ago, lol! The surgery will slow me down , but Falaise sent me his textures today. So I don’t know, a couple of weeks maybe? I had to completely redo the turban yesterday and I still couldn’t get it right. It’s a bitch to figure out how the various textures wrap around the model. On the other hand, the sandals and puttees work out pretty good. Progress is occurring, lol! I’ll shoot some pictures in a few days when I can get back to it.
Believe me, just working with the various uniform and equipment combos with the many skeletons (mdr/mds) files I can see what a bear this must have been for BFC to implement the numerous TO&E in the game.

Yeah, that's what Maradona said too. Stomps off fuming, then suddenly remembers that my alta ego didn't approve of football.

Here is the regulatory jellaba of military manufacture worn at the same time as the tribal djelaba
the kepi entirely blue gray with sherifan star and crescent
a photo of the outfit corresponding to the regulations, visible in a museum
mjkerner the simplest is that I send you the files uniform to add them with your mods
and rename them, I'm not very talented about it
and after you can publish them

Sequoia got a reaction from JM Stuff in Rangers, French etc from CM:FI Rome to Victory in CMBN
I know the East Front is next in line, but it strikes me as low hanging fruit to bring over the U.S. Rangers and French from the CMFI family over to CMBN as a "Forces Pack". Of course with the French I bet folks would think the OOB would be incomplete without the French armored units that made up their armored division and that of course would mean more work...
What else from CMFI can be brought over to CMBN?

Sequoia reacted to Falaise in Where are the Goumiers in djellaba?
here is my contribution
it's true that it's exotic
for info this type of djelaba with his large stripes are tribal djelaba whose pattern corresponds to different tribes
as well as wearing a beard or a turban
from 1942 is introduced a regulatory djelaba manufactured by the army unifying and standardizing the holding of the goumier
i work about it
kepi is also specific
i work about it too

They fought like lions.... No, they didn't. Lions would have told Mad Addy to "F*** Off, you Nazi plonker, and leave us in peace, the Jews never did us any harm."

Well, of a sort, Aragorn.😀
As for language, they’ll be speaking French by default, which works good enough for me, but I’m going to try importing Syrian voices from CMSF2. That should work pretty good for those of us who don’t speak Arabic anyway. (The Moroccan dialect would be different, but they are both Arabic speakers.)

I just performed a test.
I took the uniform art file 'smod_french_greatcoat_uniform.bmp' and made a copy named 'smod_french_greatcoat_uniform [ffd].bmp'. Then I altered the untagged uniform art. When I added them to the game the European French soldiers (1st FFD) retain the original greatcoat while the North African French have their own greatcoat texture that can be modded into a djelleba.

Progress, but I will dump the turban. (I whipped these ones up years back when I first tried to mod Goums, but was going to replace them with photo-real ones.) Trouble is, those damn officers! Their skins (faces) use the same textures as the troops, so as you can see, they would have a turban as well. Also thinking of dumping the sandals (they'd be an option to use or not as you see fit anyway) but I need to find some photo-real sandals and puttees, then will have to chop them up into the texture file, so we'll see. Besides, I love the game's default boots and leggings.
Also, might have to tediously go back and redo all the striping on the djellaba because of the way the the textures stretch when the pixeltruppen are moving. And, djebalas don't have collars, but do have hoods, so I don't know exactly how I am going to address those issues, if at all. Now I remember why I dropped the ball on this mod back when, lol!

Well at least neither of you are burned countless times each November. Then again your face becoming an anti-establishment symbol is kind of cool.

I'll be working on one after I get to the SF2 British uniforms I didn't finish last Spring. There are a lot more option with skins and whatnot with the release of R2V.
Edit: Loaded my old one form years ago into R2V and it works! But this is a mod to the British uniforms. Need to do it with the French.

Sequoia got a reaction from J Bennett in My thanks to all the playtesters.
It's the Holiday for giving thanks Thursday in the U.S. and while I'm grateful Battlefront does what it does, I wanted to give a special call out of thanks to an underappreciated by most group, the playtesters. Many of them put in countless hours of work for no payment, so thanks guys (any gals?), my hat's off to you. We wouldn't be where we are without you.

good god, is this really even happening? this false equivalence bulls-t? "oh, well the allies did bad things too so everyone is equal." We are not blind or stupid as Aragorn likes to imply. We KNOW THE ALLIES DID BAD THINGS. But the allies weren't on a campaign of conquest and murder for all the resources of Eurasia, were they? And the allies were extremely merciful to their vanquished foes. The germans planned to impoverish, enslave, banish, or exterminate their vanquished foes. They did in fact impoverish/enslave/banish/exterminate everyone they conquered. THAT'S THE DIFFERENCE. The allied bombing campaigns of german and japanese cities constituted war crimes, there's no way to deny that. The allies did NOT do this to enslave those countries, they did it because they (wrongly) thought it would end the f___ing war and end the suffering sooner. Intent matters.
And having said that..... I am currently playing CMRT campaign as the germans. Because they have nice gear. and I already did the russian campaign.

"Sociology" is a subject matter, not a method. Some sociologists use scientific methods, some do not.
A common reason that the "hard" sciences seem to be more scientific is that the problems studied are often easier, measurement more accurate and precise, and the subject doesn't change so rapidly over time.
