  1. A Thread on this already existed in the General Forum.
  2. Say that the third game will, in fact, be science fiction. Maybe Battlefront hasn't decided, but I know they're thinking about it. What sort of sci-fi setting would you like to see? Something like Drop Team? Something based on a license such as Starship Troopers? (The book, not the movie). Any one ever play the board game Bughunter Sniper, something like that? Please no Star Wars of Star Trek suggestions. Such licenses would cost a fortune and the ground combat in those was dumb anyway. What other science fiction that you know of gave a good ground combat model?
  3. (Plays theme from Don Quixote.) Sure you can dream but I think we'll be lucky to get the German and Canadians. They'll be able to fight each other.
  4. You have arrived. I am secretly hoping that all these 'modules' will allow us pick and choose units from different nations and pit them against each other, regardless of when they actually fought. Something like Firepower . How many front line 1960's Pakistani troops would take to defeat a platoon sized force of mid-80's Spetsnaz? Or sumfink lik dat. I can never find anyone with the A)time or patience to sit and play a round of Firepower. </font>
  5. This thread got resurected once in August; I'm doing it again to ask if we'll see new doo-dads with the Marine Module such as those M1 asked about and my favorite, abandoned/burnt civilian vehicles? Edit: Just thought I'd add a comment from Steve from way back in 2005. I understand that time changes things. [ February 27, 2008, 05:52 PM: Message edited by: Sequoia ]
  6. Don't laugh or we'll shut down You Tube again!
  7. Once upon a time in 2006 Steve posted: Please remember that after so much time he has a right to retract some things. Tell me about it One thing to keep in mind is that we WANT to include everything and the kitchen sink. We tried very hard to do that with CMx1 and even then we didn't get everything in. Unfortunately, that amount of effort was unsustainable and so we all have to adjust our expecations for what is possible. Currently there are no plans for ARRVs because there are no plans for recovery. This is one of those things that not only requires yet another set of unique models and animations, but not insignificant amounts of AI work. People take driving and the phyisics of motion for granted. It's really tough stuff to code. Plus, something has to determine that recovery should happen, how to go about it, with whom, and under what circumstances. There are soldiers out there that go through months, even years, of training to make these sorts of calls. Really tough to jam that into a few bits of code. MCLIC (mine clearing for you non-technical people) is on our feature list still. It's within the scope of CM and within the realm of "doability" for CM:SF. Hopefully for the initial release. Dozer and mine rollers for tanks will likely be in a follow up Module. We want them in, they are "doable", but with the amount we have on our plates left to do it's probably not going to be in the initial release. Steve </font>
  8. I suppose I was hoping that the engine was made so that adding units would not take that much of the lead programmers time. That, at least, was hinted at on more than one occasion. If that is incorrect I am sorry to hear that. If I understand the work flow correctly, Steve provides the stats to Charles who adds them and the rest of the team including beta testers such as yourself test them. But perhaps I'm just engaging in wishful thinking in my desire to see other games and modules develop as soon as possible.
  9. I suspect the Marine Module will take less of Charles time and more of Dan's as it's mostly just new units to draw. Charles can continue work on engine improvements.
  10. So you think East Front might be a module to the first WWII game instead of it's own game? It could work. All the German units of '44 would be already be done. Of course you'd have to add special East Front building types. We'll have to wait and see I suppose. Hey they could call it "Memoir '44:the computer game."
  11. It would have to be a full blown game, not a module. I don't think Battlefront has even decided what they're going to do after the first WWII game. Lots of people say space lobsters, i.e a science fiction game. Who knows?
  12. For a real challenge I'd like to see someone do a woman. Not that I'd like to see one in the game, just as a modding challenge.
  13. Okay, I misunderstood, I thought it was still just experimental.
  14. Mikey did you sneak into the secret warehouse where they keep the lost Ark to take that picture?
  15. I assume you meant "I am now ready to suggest the game to you friends" ?
  16. I know the US Army made a practice of putting .50 cal mgs on 2.5 ton trucks for AA purposes. Did the Soviets regularly follow this practice on the Lend Lease trucks they received?
  17. Bump for Battlefront. Nevermind, I just read the new Blogfront. It's going to come after 1.07. [ February 16, 2008, 01:40 PM: Message edited by: Sequoia ]
  18. Try bribing him with wine or camo uniforms. Actually it'd be cool to have a German squad with some guys in the Stahlhelm and others in the Feldmitze. Is that what you mean? Thinking some more, you'd actually need interchangeable head types for different hats since the 3-d model would be different. [ February 15, 2008, 10:40 AM: Message edited by: Sequoia ]
  19. What is it that doesn't work? The Paradox patch has been out for several days now.
  20. Am I the only one who can't see Peter's images?
