How many games do you have going at once?
Lt. Smash replied to bobo's topic in Combat Mission Red Thunder
6... It is my max. More than that and I struggle to keep track of each game. -
Want to see something cool tomorrow?
Lt. Smash replied to ChrisND's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
Thanks for the sneak peak, Chris. It was great to see what progress Battlefront has made on this title and it gave me an appreciation on your development process. It is amazing to thing about the transformation that goes into a game like this over many builds. -
Very sound strategy. I will add that to my repertoire.

Playing Hot Mustard as the Germans, I was surprised to find that the six battalion batteries off-map mortars I've been given cannot reach the second objective (the Train Station). I had purposely reserved my artillery to back up my assault. My infantry guns (leIG18) have the range but the 81mm mortars (sGrW34) do not. Have people run into similar problems in other scenarios? This was a little frustrating.

That's what I am doing.

Are there any new floating icons included in CMRT? We've seen some new ones (light machine gun, flak, various FOW, various light trucks, and new classes of tanks) since the series started. I'm curious if Battlefront is adding an more for the Eastern Front like a flamethrower?

For what it's worth, I could not get CMFI/GL running with the latest Intel drivers but I downgraded to the March 2013 drivers (version 9.18.10.3071) and was able to get it running, albeit with blocky text and weak graphics. However, it will help fill the void when I am traveling.

Thanks. I was given one by my company. I'll travel with it and would love to take CM on the road. I'll play around with it and see what I can figure out.

I realize that Surface Pro tablet has the dreaded Intel HD 4000 graphics chip but has anybody gotten CMFI (or BN or SF) working on it?

The Sheriff of Oosterbeek – A Scenario Design DAR/AAR
Lt. Smash replied to JonS's topic in CM Normandy Maps and Mods
JonS, thanks for this. You've been one of my favorite scenario designers and this peak behind scenes is a treat...like reading a Stephen King blog on his process for writing a book (if you're a fan of his genre). It's also may prompt me to try my hand at scenario building at some point -
Gustav Kiwi Soldiers scenario: i need help
Lt. Smash replied to BDW's topic in Combat Mission Fortress Italy
Thank god for this thread. I always plays the smallest scenario first time out with a new CM game (I have since CMBO). On top of it, I have felt my CM skills have slipped as I've been getting thrashed in my recent PBEM games. With that in mind, I was a tad frustrated when my Kiwis broke and got slaughtered the first time around. I was irritated on my second go when everybody was killed before I could get them out of the compound (mild exaggeration). After the third and fourth tries, I was ready to turn in my Field Marshall's baton and find something else to do. Kobayashi Maru, indeed, and I am no Kirk. -
I've said it before: you are mean...just cruel. First you announce Gustav, chat up Market Garden (the module that I personally cannot wait for) and then say that all attention can now focus on two new games?!? Bob

FYI, guys, I've just uploaded a new version to the Repository. It is called "Lt. Smash's Floating Icons for CMBN and CMFI". It will take a little bit for Battlefront to process it. It will be available in the CMFI area and the same file will work with any version of CMBN or CMFI. I hope you enjoy it.

Mean. Just mean.

Baseless Speculation on the Market-Garden Module
Lt. Smash replied to Holman's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
I am looking forward to MG primarily because I thought FJ was going to be included but I agree 100% with your concern that the absence of any discussion about FJ from BF makes me worry that FJ will be left out of this module which would be a shame. Bob -
CMFI FLaoting Icon mod.. Coming soon!!

Looks nice, Bill. -
How to use H2HH 1.6.x with CMFI
Lt. Smash replied to GreenAsJade's topic in Combat Mission Fortress Italy
GaJ, you rock. H2HH is fantstic. I use it with CMA, CMSF, CMBN and CMFI. With that in mind, is it possible to eliminate the tabs and have a separate column (maybe containing an icon rather than text) which shows which game/install that the particular PBEM game relates to? -
The CMFI program files are installed in C:\Program Files (x86)\Battlefront\Combat Mission Fortress Italy by default. Game files (i.e., Incoming/Outgoing folders) are installed in C:\Users\[username]\Documents\Battlefront\Combat Mission\Fortress Italy\Game Files. Someone on the Few Good Men said that H2HH will work as-is by pointing the H2HH to the CMFI Game Files folder. I haven't tried it yet. Bob

Lots to play but we always want more, right?!? Seriously though, although a steady stream of PBEM in CMBN and CMA continue, I've really been enjoying single player CMSF lately. I finished the British campaign recently, I'm playing the German campaign, and I've been throwing in some USMC scenarios for fun. It may not have all the bells and whistles of the newer games but it's still a pretty fantastic game.

I'd be happy with a patch that didn't crash with wire in it.

Does anybody know if the ltv icons are used in any of the CMx2 games? These are located in the floating icons\shared folder and there are floating icons for both the blue and red sides. Thanks for any insight. Bob/Lt. Smash

So what you guys think?
Lt. Smash replied to Sixxkiller's topic in Combat Mission: Touch (iOS / Android)
So, I plunked down my $4.99 first thing this morning. I've bought every game/module of CM to this point. So, how could I pass this up? As everybody has said, this is certainly not CMBN on the iPad but it is fun. As an iPad game, I give it high marks. It gives me a CM fix without needing to be at my computer. Given the amount that I travel for work, this is a nice bonus. The terrain graphics look better on the iPad than on the PC. I'd love to know why but the building and hedgerow terrain seem more realistic. There are some very innovative UI features that I'd love to see brought to the PC. Top of the list is the ability to drag forward and backwards in time during turn replays. Personally, I hope this is a huge commercial success for Battlefront. It's not the idea game platform but if it can fund more CM it will be good for all of us fans. BTW, I have to admit that I laughed out loud at the tutorial. It does a good job of explaining the how the game works, but the commentary and the bleeped-out cussing was hysterical. I wonder how many complaints Battlefront is going to get on it. Bob/Lt. Smash
