First NATO screenshots are here!
Nicdain replied to Battlefront.com's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
Looking at the german soldiers in the screenshots, it seems to me that they are missing some gear (such as ammo pouches). Is this due to the alpha status? -

Indeed, very nice screenshots! I have a question about infantrymen in CMSF: as NATO will be out, we will have U.S., British, Canadian, German and Dutch soldiers. Apart from small arms performances, will there be other parameters making an infantryman from one nationality different from another? Something like doctrine, culture, training...? Otherwise, the risk is to have a bunch of pixeltruppen differently textured (or modeled) that behave all in the same manner. -
Steve, are NATO and Afghanistan going to be released before Normandy? It would surely lighten the wait for CM:N

And is it possible to split again the 10 men rifle squad in two 5 men teams?

I'd be happy to fully move to Apple even with CMx2! -
Same here. When on the home page, it asks me to save an .exe file

Combat Mission: Normandy, a good product needs TIME

Hi Steve, nice to see you back on the forum! You must have had a pretty busy time lately. How things are progressing regarding CM:NATO, CM:A and CM:N? Any bone for us hungry dogs? -
Although good animations can give to the game a better visual appearance, they are not fundamental for simulation purposes. Moreover, BF.C have not the budget to pay pixar artists to create movie-like animations. For this reason, we have to accept a compromise: a very good simulation with medium quality animations, which, BTW are the best animations ever seen in a wargame. I rather prefer this compromise than having an eye-candy game which has a flawed engine

I am wondering how water could make into the CMSF engine...

Shouldn't the Lee Enfield have the short magazine next to the trigger? -

In the same screen, four Mujaeddin seem to carry a Garand, although I am not sure if it is really that rifle or another... -
Is it yet too early to show us some in-game media (screens, movies) about CMSF:Nato or CM:Afghanistan? Thanks

my 2 eurocents: more undergrowth vegetation such as bushes, scrubs, tall crops would add a lot to immersion. I hope to see again rain and strong wind, too.

Ok Battlefront it is about time for a CM: Normandy Forum
Nicdain replied to Jaws's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
Passing from the arid lands of Syria to the temperate ones of Normandy, there is a dramatic change in vegetation, both variety and density. I wonder if this variety will be modeled in CM:N. Particularly I would like to know if the undergrowth in woods will be represented by object such as bush, scrub, etc, or they will be simply abstracted as they were in CMX1. For what concerns trees, I suppose they will be modeled according to species present in Northern France. Just one more question: will wheat fields be represented in 3D when crops are developed (e.g. soldiers will visually hide inside them)? Thanks -
December 09 Summary of Combat Mission projects
Nicdain replied to Sequoia's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
That's exactly what I'd like to have, too. I'm having a great time with CMSF, so I can wait for CM:N or CM:A or Nato the time needed to have these games solidly built. But I think that a sort of development diary (Ok, not daily, nor weekly, but at least monthly!) with news about the engine, screenshots and so on would be nice to whet the appetite. I suppose that at the present stage of development, there must be something to say or see about the three titles. Ok, just my thoughts -
In a scenario I was playing yesterday, there was a Sgt Grammont... it must not be a coincidence...

well, geologically speaking, both alpine and himalayan mountains have formed in the same orogenic phase and they have common physiographic and morphologic features, so calling Afghanistan mountains "alpine" is IMHO correct. my .02 geologic €uros
