at your own risk what i did. i play with 800 x 600 screen. i opened my bmp folder, found the day sky italy, 1400 1420 1440. they are 1024 x 512. in ms paint, i opened 1400, then paste from, (the folder i have the normandy mod in) the sky bmp 1024 x 256 and move to the bottom, then save as.. 1400 1420 1440 you wont have the n s e w view of cmak, but you will have small hills with coloured trees. cmbb sky are also 1024 x 256 and will stretch to fit, ie will get taller. get a zip program, zip them up and use mcmmm to swap them in to see if you like it. edit, this method works for cmbb snowy pines for your ardennes battles too. dont forget that whatever changes bfc makes that helps you, helps your enemy as well. lots of threads in this forum about the effectiveness of the other guys stuff. better to learn how to deal with it as it is, than complain that the fix works too well for the other guy. jmho. -
i'm still waiting for mapping mission for cmak to try some cc5 map mod convertions. the latest cc5 afrika mod maps are something to see.

cmhq, get the cmmos 4.03 and the winter mods there. go to band of brothers http://www.webandofbrothers.de/ cm accessories, has bmp list dont forget for winter add 50000 to bmp ie 14600 become 64600, 108100 - 158100

before i spend the time and money, could someone tell me: if you have photos of a camo vehicle, can you morph the camo onto the bmps? or do you have to be an artist?

@rob murray i used to use the + - keys with steel panthers games to cycle through. but those games dont click and drag. but you can do it with cm too. for 30+ turn games, try playing a couple of turns and save game for later. go at it in bits. -

unfortunately with cd copies and cd cracks, the manual is about the only thing left to protect. i get so tired of people writing, asking for a copy of the "lost" manual. -
if i take sky from bo and bb (1024x256) to ak, the pic stretches too. trees and clouds get bigger. you are saying you can shrink original art, and it will display as intended, only less resourses needed?

i think its a good idea. i am or wish to make a list of pto suitable battles at my site. having them at the source makes more sense. maybe a keyword search fuction. -
pheasant plucker did a 8 bit mod a while ago. lots of debate as to whether it makes a difference. johnnymo3 did the spr mod in low res too.

moon, thank you for your comments. if the series was dieing, there wouldnt be a new scenario depot, all the cmmos at cmmods, activity at the proving grounds, etc. oldtimers will leave, newcomers will come, life will go on. stopped by matrixgames forum the other day. they are still fighting over 7.1 8.0 8.1 h2h when is 8.2 going to be here. -

hsg first town liberated, 5 battle op. allies must move to mid map and take over town. battle 2-5 both sides reinforcements move to middle to battle over it. i liked it very much. starts at night.

i have a lowly radeon 7000, 64ddr, and dust, smoke are fine. scrolling isnt too bad either. i dont miss the fog. not many battles use fog.

i have a collection of pita utilities for modding cc and sp. thats the difference of cm, nothing extra needed. and all the mods and battles work. ever mod cc? nightmare.

one of the best things in cm series is the editor. and bmp modding. look at all the games that you cant change, you have to buy expansion packs. bfc have really been our friends and fellows. even if we fight like family sometimes

i had run into the same problem with bo to ak mods before. sometimes you can stretch and scrunch bits to fit. sometimes it just doesnt work without a graphic arts degree. i did some winter conversions from bo mods that were better than nothing, until wicky and others started modding cmak vehicles. i have used combos of ak and bo. gem snowy halftrak sides and top view, with wicky's mod on the rest. you dont know until you try.
