  2. perhaps an understrength battalion with one company greens and the rest conscripts and no heavy weapons ( HMG, mortars ) would represent the adhoc fighting unit that might be assembled with all the clerks, intelligence units etc. to defend the HQ? maybe a platoon of crack security troops to represent feldgendarmerie units?

  5. there's also a bug you can take advantage of, well maybe it's not a bug. when you stop a gun it's setup time is say two minutes, at 1 minute 45 seconds you give it a move order. It's remaining setup time will be 15 seconds. you can use this on anything with a deploy time btw
  6. I was a little frustrated by the T-72 demo after the hotfix. I couldn't figure out how the leopard was accurately striking me through the trees. then it hit me! NV sights :E duh! after that it only takes a few hits on the leopard to kill it

  9. I for one was always confused at the CM sturm platoon. all the real TOEs I've seen, the sturm platoon is entirly composed of STG-44.
  10. right now there are two ways of getting units in quickbattles, human or automatic maybe a compromise? instead of having 10 different battalions, perhaps just having "rifle battalion" with a random selection, maybe even different companies and different platoons ( like a sturm platoon, entirely armed with STG-44 ) but the greatest implementation would have to be armored vehicles. Right now we have so many in CMBB, that many people never use them. perhaps "light tank platoon" "heavy tank platoon" "heavy tank company" etc "light AA battery" "heavy ATG platoon"
  11. I guess it also depends upon the circumstance of those dying. It might take a nuke from Iran or something to rally the nation.

  15. Your proffessor is probably enthralled with the superior German warmachine ( look where it got them. ) vs the "untermensche" Soviet tactics ( not bad for a future superpower ) by poor equipment, they dropped with no artillery or other heavy weapons IIRC, which contributed to their failures

  18. including modding textures on existing units could we also create custom wireframes? Kinda like in Half Life where you can have a Yoda character model for the 3rd person view but it still has hitboxes and all the other characteristics of a normal player model in other words i'd like there to be two different entities for a tank/infantryman/at-gun damagemodel ( this is what the game calculates LOS and the armor model with, and special functions like blowing off turrets and treads, also hard coded camoflauge patterns would be considered in the LOS calcs ) visual model ( eye candy if you will, if you make it pink, the game won't consider this. It will only help us make it prettier. ) Battlefront would have to release patches to update or modify damage models, while players could download player-created visual upgrades. Like 3000 poly Tigers or whatever you'd like.
  19. too many situations where the ass end of a tank was sticking out, but I couldn't target the vehicle because you have to be able to shoot at the center. the 3d model in game really means nothing at all, it's just a representation of the way it's facing and that's about it. the tank ( in the engine's eyes ) is just a single point in the game, and if you can't see it you can't hit it.

I dunno but in Close Combat I do really well with Volksgrenadier forces vs tanks. esp vs Players, unorthodox tactics to lure a Sherman into a flamethrower, faust, shreck trap, of course in CM they're much less effective because of the lack of effective range, however this can be overcome with use of LMGs and SMGs in the extreme, but IRL the lack of these probably compounded their effectiveness. Of course, IRL the terrain probably affected their performance. What town was it where it was completely surrounded by open ground, and the only way the VG men had to get across was to charge not unlike the Russians sometimes did with their Penal battalions.

  22. I believe it should be based on each country's individual doctrine. like the Germans on a move order would move in their classic column formation but in advance they would do it in the loose line formation.
  23. I have it for PC, and I don't have any problem with my guys taking cover.
  24. be wary, always vigilant, I've had too many Panzer IVs taken out by Greyhounds from the front...
  25. well, a garand may be semi-automatic, but it isn't easy to keep it on target when you're firing as fast as you can.
