  1. How 'bout making this the subject of the next CMx2 game? It would be an instant bestseller in Finland, Norway and Denmark. Combat Mission: Dark and Stinky Force!
  2. I don't think I've ever seen a thread reach the third page so fast on these fora before...
  3. Why don't you all be nice and bugger off? We're trying be all Fanboi[TM] and stuff, but you Peng-i'ites blow our cover.
  4. That is a very good idea! We really need a CM equivalent of Hyperlobby.
  5. This is one of the contrasts between the world's only superpower and us Scandinavians: whenever we in Finland have an opinion poll about 'what institution do you trust most?', the top two are always the Police and Defense Forces (not necessarily in this order, but you get my drift). Perhaps we're just hopelessly brainwashed.
  6. Totally off-topic, but this feels like the right place to quote The Producers (always wanted to do that). Some people here want Alizee in CM. I want Hitler! Hitler with a song in his heart!
  7. Yes, yes, the US warmongers!!! They bombed the Pearl Harbour to make the reluctant Japanese Empire to invade China, Philippines etc.!!! They blew up the WTC towers to oust that most progressive and peaceful of all regimes, the Taliban!!! Hell, they even constrained Hitler to declare war on them, bastards!!! [lots of angry fa[e]ces here] BTW, did you know that Hitler told better jokes than Churchill? Still, happy Independence Day to the US of A!
  8. Socialist?? Blair's government??? What dimension are you living in?? </font>
  9. T-72. Finnish Army has never had T-62's.
  10. You poor sod. Let me know if you visit Turku (Åbo), I'll let you watch from outside through window when I'm playing the CM:SF. It'll be something of a challenge for you as I live on the fourth floor, but then, you beggars can't be choosers!
  11. ham_v2.0, did you by any change serve in Savon Prikaati (Finland) in the early 1990s? Because that was exactly the situation there. One BTR-80 that was reverently shown around, but in everyday situations we had to do with BTR-60's. Absolutely hated them -- especially as in previous autumn 8 or 9 conscripts drowned when one sunk in a water crossing exercise (all BTR's were banned from entering water after that). We named them as "Bratislavassa Tehty Romu 60-luvulta" ("piece of junk made in Bratislawa in the 60s" -- my apologies to any Bratislawans and Slovakians around here) and were intensely jealous of the other brigades which had Finnish-made XA-180 and -185 (aka. Pasi).
  12. CDV marketed CM:BB as Combat Mission 2 and CM:AK as Combat Mission 3 here in the old continent, so he's probably referring to those games.
  13. Given that the game after CM:SF is going to be WWII Western Front 1944-45, for the next games my favourites are, in whatever order: - WWII Eastern Front: as the whole shebang 1941-45 is beyond the scope of this game, I'll settle for Stalingrad or Kursk - Cold War gone hot, say 1985: I know BF has stated they're not interested in this kind of counterfactual history, but as far as modern or close-to-modern settings go, this scenario has excercised the minds of wargamers for very long, and should be easy to sell
  14. There is a distinct difference between taking interest in something and in being aggressively obsessed by something. I count myself among the 'merely interested' group.
  15. Here's one more vote for a future Eastern Front game. And I also want to take this opportunity to disassociate myself from the more extreme views of my fellow countrymen. Not all Finns are hypernationalistic tossers smarting over old wrongs.
  16. Defense Forces and Ministry of Defense advocate increased defense expenditure (as always), but that a significant raise is in making and politically worked out... Could you point me to a source?
  17. Hot... damn! --dances a little jig to the astonisment of his co-workers--
  18. The makers of my two favourite war games (CM & Il-2 series) have teamed up! Sounds promising, to understate it...
  19. JasonC, very interesting stuff regarding the 'what-if' of full German mobilization of economy. Just one question: would Germany have had fuel for all those extra tanks, halftracks etc?
  20. Count me among the deliriouly happy. I find modern combat a refreshing change.
  21. Goes to show what kind of supermen the Germans were. Even cats have paltry seven lives, but this Hoepner guy...
