  1. It is in Amazon.co.uk, the search facility is a bit dodgy that's all: *edit: Can't seem to link URL. Go to "PC & Video Games" in the search, then try "combat mission". Brings up CMBO and CMBB... Personally I don't take concrete assurance from online sites, but there does seem to be some consistancy on this one. Personally I prefer to go to a shop and ask them when it's due to be delivered to the shop for release. Unfortunately no shop I've talked to in Den Haag has even heard of CMBB up to now... :-/ [ September 24, 2002, 08:02 AM: Message edited by: Fetchez la Vache ]
  2. 1 and 3 with a dollop of 6 (get direct from the guys who wrote it). I had a friend in the US lined up to pre-order but unfortunately it fell through. So I'm forced now to wait for CDV. Real shame. BTW I've asked around my home in Den Haag, Netherlands and have found no retailer who even has CMBB on their list of upcoming titles! Only one even had CMBO stocked... I also hope CDV make sure the European pc magazines have got a copy for review by now, because I haven't seen anything mentioned in the magazines (except for 1 ad). CMBB doesn't even register in the lastest copy of PCGamer on the list of upcoming games to be released. TBH I'm not very impressed by the lack of 'air time' CMBB is getting over here so far.
  3. Stick. Wrong end of. He's talking about CDV giving preference to German-speakers over the rest of Europe. Not about SS runes in the game... As to the actual point in question... BURN THEM! BURN THEM! They're obviously doing it on purpose because hardly any of us bought "Lula: Huge Bazookas". *edit: Lula, Lulu, Looloo, whatever... 4. I'd say those specs look fine Apache. The XP2100 in particular gives a lot of 'bang for bucks' imo. A GF4Ti4200 is a good card, it can be over-clocked up to Ti4400 speeds easily and 64Mb is fine for current-generation games. Only things I'd mention are: 1) I'm using the same mobo chipset/s-card combination (if my memory is correct) with no problems. I think (hope) the VIA-SB problems are generally sorted since I used to have problems before I upgraded my s-card. 2) If you don't want to play DVD's then personally I'd swap the DVD player for a CDRom. Cheaper. 3) If you know the machine's specs pretty well (ie HDD, mobo type etc) then it's always worth going to a local shop - one which builds computers. Give them the specs and get a quote? I think it's easier to deal with a local shop if you have problems compared with a mail-order company (although I think Mesh is one of the better ones). Maybe even buy the bits yourself and build it yourself? It's pretty easy really, it's only the software installation which I hate.
  5. Only 10? I think some gratuious MP quote-action is called for... BRIAN: Look. You've got it all wrong. You don't need to follow me. You don't need to follow anybody! You've got to think for yourselves. You're all individuals! FOLLOWERS: Yes, we're all individuals! BRIAN: You're all different! FOLLOWERS: Yes, we are all different! DENNIS: I'm not.
  6. It also sucks when someone who's responding to a post copies the entire previous post when theirs is the very next one... ianc</font>
  7. LoL. Rule one of internet forums: believe nothing. Anyway, I pity the poor Danish. They have to wait an extra 2 weeks due to delays in re-printing the manual...
  8. I too am a Brit living in The Netherlands. Amazon.co.uk will ship to NLDS and I've used UK online gaming sites before to buy English versions of several games (my Dutch is woefully poor ). Off the top of my head www.play.com is good bet (very good DVD prices as well btw), I've used them before. I also see English versions of CMBO in my local Dynabyte so hopefully there will be English versions of CMBB as well. Don't give up hope just yet! As an aside. I hope CDV aren't thinking of releasing the German language version in Holland, that wouldn't go down well here I can tell you!
  9. In an attempt to put a happy face on it: all game release dates are vague. I'm amazed whenever one actually gets met...
  10. Keeping up with my tenuous 1337 post... If hackers ruled the world
  11. Oops, I forgot to add [/sarcasm] at the end. Or should I say "5@r(4$|\/|"? 1337 Google
  12. No mention of hamsters yet I see. "sqeak squeak" "squEEEEAAAAAAk" "squeaKkKkKkKkKk" "S-queak" <wiggle nose and nibble on a sunflower seed>
  13. I would have, but I was asleep. Care to re-open the motion (with the slight change that I look after your copy)? LooooL at your post btw.
  14. Heh heh. It was just my mate's opinion. Sometimes it's hard getting my 'twitchy' pals to 'see the light'. Actually I was lurking here soon after the CMBO release and I think I do remember a lot of 'discussions' going on around then. Although the best ones took a few months to really get going. Now where's that picture of a tripod-mounted Bren I had... The standard of posting (by which I mean speeling and grammar like) and the thinking behind posts is a lot better here than most internet forums I browse. But I also think that opinions here are more strongly held as well. Throw in the fact that there are a myriad of feelings flying around at this time because of the CMBB demo and I can understand why my friend was a bit put off at first glance. Perhaps we should start employing some 1337-speak in order to make CMBB more appealing to the internet masses? i r m3g4 \m/(--)\m/
  15. I guess the silver lining is that with CDV support the potential customer base is expanded considerably by getting CMBB onto store shelves. Personally I must admit I don't mind waiting an extra couple weeks (I've been waiting a year as it is ) if it helps BTS. The 'sanitised' thing is a bit irritating though and I hope any software protection doesn't cause problems.
  16. 1 reason: it's the sequel to the game I've played longer than any other.
  17. Good man! Knowing helps, it's the uncertainity which is the killer. p.s.
  18. Good point. Although might it involve some playing around with the reg files? I had to do that once in order to patch MOHAA, didn't like it.
  19. Well I'll keep my fingers crossed then. Black Isle recently had a lot of problems with Neverwinter Nights largely due (imo) to having Securom (sp?) 'forced' upon them by Infogames. Again I think DVD and certain CD-R players caused the problems. Apparently a lot of people had to resort to 'no-CD' cracks in order to run the game. How silly is that???
  20. Anyone know what CDV's typical copy protection involves (I didn't buy S-S)? Is it third party software or simply a CD key? I can well imagine that adding a third party copy protection scheme might potentially delay things a bit. Saying that I have no idea if CDV are adding copy protection anyway, I'm just curious that I see it being mentioned (rightly or wrongly). I must say that living in The Netherlands I feel somewhat put out with having to buy a 'sanitised' version. I understand perfectly well why this is the case, in order to make CDV's distribution easier, but it doesn't mean I like it. What makes it worse is the fact that if I had a Mac I could order the 'US' version directly from BTS. Grrrrr. (note to Mac users: finally you have a valid argument for owning a Mac )
  21. /me jumps in for the hell of it since I'm having a crap day at work after a long weekend away Whining? Lol. Customer feedback. I think it's fair to say everyone on this board bought, played and enjoyed CMBO. If they didn't, then I don't understand why they are reading this forum anymore. So cut 'whiners' some slack, they probably appreciated/loved the first game as much as anyone else. If people don't like seeing negative or differing views about things then they really shouldn't read internet forums. Short track to a heart attack I think. On the other hand there's really no point in people getting into a complete tizzy over 2 (I'll ignore the tutorial) demo scenerios. Get the FV, play it for a couple of weeks and after that people will probably never notice no-shockwaves/small-tracers/new-camera-controls/new-interface/etc. /me goes back to work :| *edit /me comes back Oh and BTW. Consider what it is like to read this forum for the first time. I persuaded a friend of mine to have a look at the CMBB demo (he didn't play CMBO). He came to say that he thought the forum sucked because of the (I'll paraphrase since I can't remember his exact words) rabid fanboys which gave the forum an oppresive feel to it. I hope he'll buy the game anyway though (fingers crossed). But remember this forum is an advert in some way for the game in which case I think whining is a lesser evil than being condescending and inflexible in opinions. :another shrug: (BTW, my friend does actually exist, he's not a figment of my imagination conjured up in order to make a weak point) [ September 10, 2002, 06:57 AM: Message edited by: Fetchez la Vache ]
  22. Nice. I see things degrade into personal insults and stuffy rhetoric faster than they used to. Whatever happen to nice impartial discussions with lots of grognard cross-referencing? That story about E. Slovik is very sad. Poor guy was probably terrified and said what he did because of it. Probably trying to play on the sympathies of the court, misplaced hope. 23. In the Stare scenerio I couldn't see any improvement. Tanks in particular seemed to bunch up too often for my liking really. I felt the AI was better in AFV formation control as the Axis in the Citadel scenerio though. I swear I see the Panzers employ over-watch (or at least I imagine they are ). But programming a good attacking AI in any game must be nearly impossible. The best AI at the end of the day is a human opponent, and is what CM is really all about imo. *edit: check spelling before posting, check spelling before posting, check spelling before posting, check spelling before posting, check... 24. I'm lazy. Any chance of an URL for this info? Tx in advance.
  25. Just a little suggestion to BTS if I may? TBH I stopped playing CMBO about 8-9 months ago. I kept checking the forums regulary for the latest screenie and 'bone' and installment of the Bren-tripod/fazine trilogy. But somewhere along the line I've lost my sense of direction with respect to the changes and improvements done to CMBB. For example I had no idea CM modelled spaced armour and it's effect on Russian AP. Wow! Is there any chance of posting a 'grog' list of the improvements made in CMBB? I think it would go a huge way in making people (like me) more aware of the changes. The Beta testers know them. I don't tbh.
