  1. Has anyone tried 'hiding' the mounted spotter, squad or team whilst in the truck?
  2. CoreComputers (Case/MB kit seller) notes Supplier Problem - April 2003 CoreComputers/2kHappyWare has a note on the web page that their previous distributor of components (like the Apple motherboard and Pwr Supply I assume) for their CoreCrib kits can't provide them anymore due to contract issues with Apple. The page notes they are searching for another source for the components. (When the MDD Copper heatsink swap article was posted here last month an Apple parts dealer told me he cannot sell to other than end users - i.e. can't sell to non-Apple authorized dealers that resell the parts.) www.xlr8yourmac.com www.xlr8yourmac.com-all on CoreCrib
  3. My mistake guys sorry for any confusion. Looking at the CMAK screen shots the dust clouds look like a variation of smoke. If and how full blown sandstorms are to be depicted is unknown.
  4. PC ATI cards - no Mac ATI card 32mb Radeon - definitely yes As for the sandstorms in CMAK, the same answer holds as long as sandstorms are coded the same as transparent smoke/fog effects are in CMBO/BB. [ July 07, 2003, 02:20 PM: Message edited by: Wicky ]
  5. "We went across in our canvas and wood assault boats. They had had a wooden bottom, canvas sides with a wooden frame at the top. You sort of lifted them up, pushed two or three struts into position to keep them rigid, just got in and paddled across. They took about six men. We got across a canal which was about ten feet deep." Corporal Keneth Lovell, 16th Durham Light Infantry "The boats were somewhat difficult to manoeuvre and after the usual problems of going round in circles which one tended to do, we all got across." Signaller Ronald Elliott, 16th Durham Light Infantry The Heat of Battle, The Italian Campaign by Peter Hart
  6. Sorted Check your mail Just read they did em like that cos they couldn't find enough legit Sherman's for the job and that they mistakenly rode round in jeeps four up when regs said 3 up max. One lot of infiltrators were shot on sight for wearing the wrong boots!. Otto Skorzeny was cleared at his trial because of the testimony of a French/English resistance leader (White Rabbit) who used the cross dressing ploy when breaking into a prison. 7. As long as it's bootable in OS9 your fine but...The optimum graphics card seems to be the 32mb ATI Radeon (does fog and smoke fine unlike ATI for PC). 64 and 128 ATI cards are not necessarily an improvement as the features fall apart. I currently run a dual G4-450 9.2.2 with an aftermarket 32mb AGP Retail Radeon. If I got a faster processor mac I would want to install this card and store whatever came with it. I don't think you can buy the 32 card new anymore but Andreas (German fan boy) bought a new 2nd hand one. [ July 01, 2003, 05:34 PM: Message edited by: Wicky ]
  8. I've got it installed but I've got no idea of the bitmap numbers. E-mail me if you can figure out what they are and I'll extract them. Edit: Bugger I'm on a mac so they're in installed in resource files, not easily extracted a la CMBB. [ July 01, 2003, 05:46 PM: Message edited by: Wicky ]
  9. Phhew! Just finished and only just managed to gain a minor victory.. Despite... Spoilers : : : : : : : : : : : : I made the mistake also of placing my Stugs in view of the bunkers. The tanks were hidden in scatty trees but the AI must have spotted an uncovered and unhidden squaddie nearby and proceeded to drop, from the off, some nasty 300mm arty on 'em plus the kitchen sink. This also took out my 240 and 150 spotters aaagh!!! I learnt from this bad error and baited the AI in the next battle with a sacrifical truck and HT plonked in the open and made damn sure everything else was well hidden. Thankfully I had one fragile spotter left from the 1st battle which produced the smoke (just) needed to take apart the bunker complex. Also it was very important to gain ground wherever one could (esp' up the flanks) as in the next battle it gave the opportunity to get pioneers and flamies behind the lines. The t-34s behaved impressively with the cannister rounds when finishing of the Soviet hordes with one credited with 73 infantry kills. An epic Op which kept me up like nothing else since Civilization 2 - Onto the next one
  10. Spoiler . . . . . . . . . . . . . Interesting about the morning mists - as I have started twice. In the first it was misty and in the 2nd restart (paying more attention to the briefing ) it was clear and sunny allowing things like aircraft possble. So is there a randomness attached to the starting weather conditions? [ June 25, 2003, 06:36 PM: Message edited by: Wicky ]
  11. Plus, forget about any speed advantages with dual processors over single processors with CM as is in 9.2.2. On that note will CMX be altivec enhanced and take advantage of dual processors in OSX whatever...BFC?
  12. Working fine on my 450 mhz Mac - a jaw dropping map size very well done. 5 turns into it The .exe .cmf file could cause Mac owners a bit of a headache - thankfully I could power up my Virtual PC emulator and get at it but you might want to coventionaly zip it for simplicity. 15. Welcome to the forums, for an answer to your question there's a FAQ thread in the CMBB forum area. Just find it at the top and just scroll down a bit and eureaka! Direct Link Remember to install the CDV patches only in order as required and I think CDV will mail you the patches on CD if you ask them nicely [ June 21, 2003, 05:19 AM: Message edited by: Wicky ]
  16. mail sent You should have a CMBB Folder containing: CM Barbarossa to Berlin (don't forget to download the updates in order from 1.01 through to 1.03 if needed & ass' BMPs) Data - Folder OpenPlay Modules - Folder OpenPlayLib - File Scenarios - Folder Other folders will be created when you get going for PBEM and Saved Games Get some superb and useful mods and fill that HD up - Enjoy
  17. Hi, Should be in the CMBB folder an 'OpenPlayLib' 36kb file as well as as folder called 'OpenPlay Modules' containing two files 'AppleTalk' and 'TCP_IP' (totaling 160kb) If the install has gone awry I can e-mail them over to you. (check my profile) [ June 19, 2003, 09:51 AM: Message edited by: Wicky ]
  18. An interesting read Please e-mail (see profile) Ta muchly
  19. Welcome to the ATI Radeon 'club' - Mine is still going strong after 3 years, bought brand new for £200, and has shone with CMBO and CMBB. Now just waiting for CMAK then CMX
  20. In the first version of CMBB, HQ units esp. Tanks would be spotted after a couple of minutes even in Xtreme FOW in the demo(see pic below)- The ease and speed of spotting was sorted in the first release/patch I've made some bmps (based upon demo) which more easily show the HQ units - Available from here: HQUnits.zip
  21. Are they Paniced or Routed? If not and they are running around like you say, they will not be able to target. Spotters generally like to be still in cover and in an OK state to be able to do their job. If they get 'bothered' while spotting/targeting they are likely to be unable to do/finish the job and you'll have to get them settled to retarget. IIRC Only in a first turn barrage can they be killed and the job will still be accomplished.
  22. MG fire will keep ATGs temporarily supressed but you'll need to get some troops in to finish the job. Mortars will also quickly panic, and temporarily render useless, any gun without an HQ attached. If none of the above, use as much area fire from all the HE guns that you can muster. Good (retrospective) hunting
  23. Scenarios sent I think there are versions (below) I fiddled with Pa42-0808v2Gavutu D+2.cmb Pa43-1120v2TarawaD-Day.cmb Best throw them away
  24. check out the terrain o wise lurker newbie [ May 03, 2003, 08:53 AM: Message edited by: Wicky ]
