  1. Guide arrived this morning - Cheers BFC One thing I noticed is a sentence on page 35 that still doesn't seem to read right. (6-5 lines from bottom - unchanged from 1st edition) 'On one hand, you want the enemy to avoid Trenches and wander into the sites of your guns.' Should it possibly be 'sights' instead of 'sites'?
  2. I've got an aftermarket ATI AGP Radeon 32mb card in my G4 450DP that works very well in all departments. Some down sampling on hi-res mods but fog and smoke no problems whatsoever - As I understand it anything else subsequent to this card starts falling apart CM wise. I'd love this card (chucking out the 'better' card) in one of the quicksilvers to see what happens. Plus I hope the set up i've got still works when CMX arrives.
  3. Found this in another forum thread, which made me chuckle at the sweet riposte
  4. 'And Stalin's one million paratroopers would have made short work of seizing the airfields of southern England to clear the way for a full-scale invasion.' ------------------------------------------------------------------------ From one of the thankfully few 'extreme' sites that find substance in Suvorow. [url=http://www.zundelsite.org/english/zgrams/zg1997/zg9705/970513.html1984 Victor Suvorow book with the English title "The Icebreaker: Who Really Started World War II" as summarized in an insightful (not) essay by Paul Ballard: From what I've read of Glanzt, (When Titans Clash) he suggests the soviets would have had a better chance attacking Germany just a acouple of years earier or potentialy later but certainly not around the time when Germany attacked. Glantz did find, with access to Soviet records, was a plan* submitted by Zhukov to Stalin on 15th May '41 calling for an immediate attack on the German build up which obviously Stalin ignored. *Report on the Plan of Strategic Deployment of Armed Forces of the Soviet Union to the Chairman of the Council of People's Cummisars on 15th May 1941"
  5. I found with Virtual PC (3.0) on my Mac (G4 450DP) that CMBO will install but suffers from graphics 3D acceleration failing, making it therefore unplayable.
  6. Cheers guys, I look forward to receiving it. Will a similar guide be published for CM:AK?
  7. I know the spotting ability from bailed tank crews has been diminished since CMBO. But I'm playing a PBEM CMBB scenario 'Manstein Cometh' and I've just taken out 5 flanking opposition t-34s, my tanks have moved on but even my opponent admitted "Yeah, sorry about the gamey use of the tank crew's, couldn't resist the temptation." referring to moving them to borg spot, what I would have hoped to have been a subsequent surprise manoeuvre. My only other options would have been to divert my tanks (no nearby infantry), some considerable distance, to capture or kill the crews. Could the spotting ability/range for bailed crews be pleased looked at again for the 1.03 patch & CMAK
  8. My first PBEM opponent Makes The Jelly Judder from the UK Septic tourny is a good egg. In our post tourny friendly games he sometimes lets me get a draw if I'm lucky.
  9. Thanks guys, for the dedication to finish a good job started. Will there be a SMACK guide?
  10. 3 years ago bought my G4-450-DP Mac to handle CM - but the lack of support, OS and graphic card issues made me reconsider upgrading to new Mac in the last quarter. I won't be considering a new mac till CMX I've already passed that feedback to Apple with no response.
  11. What's the Mac? How it plays seems to depend on what graphics card you've got CM works fine with ATI cards upto 32mb, the later ones go flakey Macs with Nvidia cards seen to work OK I have no problems with a G4 450DP with an aftermarket ATI Radeon Retail 32mb (Smoke effects work sweetly) PC's with ATI cards don't show tranparent smoke effects
  12. Expanded 'Weather Factor' Not quite a UI suggestion. But i would like variable weather conditions within a battle/operation. i.e In a 30 turn game at dawn 8+ moves in, a change from mist/fog to clear for the remainder. Or for intance, in a midday setting clear for the first third in a battle, then overcast, then in the last rain third. (great for scenario creators but would be difficult for AI random settings to do in a natural/logical kind of way) From a UK all year round biker link
  13. Led you on a goosechase there There was a spate of 'shockwave' mods for the demo (I did one) but they were all an enhancement of the explosion and flames rather than the pressure wave seen in CMBO. The expanding sphere was taken out in CMBB and can't be replaced. I have the demo mod but I can't guarantee it to work in the full version as the demo was well cut down and some graphics were compressed (frame rates therefore no. of BMPs etc). Give me an e-mail if you want to give it a trial (remember to back up before installing)

  15. Didn't this whole issue start of in V1.00 & 1.01 as an 'acknowledged bug' when afv's/guns were shooting from behind crest at targets in LOS and shots were landing right under their noses and almost blowing themselves up on occaison. V1.02 seems to have compensated for this by moving the 'problem' in the re-code/patch further up range to the next crest beore the target. The only thing I can recall hearing from BTS (forgive me for lack of a pointer) is the rationilization that shots are walking up to to the target. Which they don't from observation as the average furrow being dug are quite significantly shorter of range and subsequent shots fall consistently within a limited short range (haven't noticed any overshoot getting anywhere near a target) than the most distant of a furrow grouping. Plus 15+ turns to possibly walk to a target to knock on the front door could be stretching it a bit far. It seems strange that this fundamental has cropped up in CMBB as it didn't seem a issue in CMBO. Great when it works for you but a bummer when it doesn't.... 16. It's a hybrid Norwegian Tank Destroyer / Wanklewagon which isn't dead, just resting. The crew just popped off to go to the bog (hint) in the trees and are just waiting for the Toilettenpapierträger* to drop of supplies before re-embarking on their heroic mission. *Babel Fish Tranlation [ March 02, 2003, 05:41 AM: Message edited by: Wicky ]
  17. This little incident reminded me of the prophetic Led Zeppelin Album and particulary of the track: In through the out door LOS Tool In The Rain (Jones/Page/Plant) Well there's a light in your eye that keeps shining Like a star that can't wait for the night I hate to think I've been blinded baby (shocked or hatched down?) Why can't I see you tonight? (EFOW?) And the warmth of your smile starts a-burnin' And the thrill of your touch gives me fright (richochet?) And I'm shaking so much, really yearning Why don't you show up, make it all right? (Hide?) Yeah, it's all right. And if you promised you'd love so completely and you said you would always be true You swore that you would never leave me, baby: What ever happened to you? And you thought it was only in movies As you wish all your dreams would come true It ain't the first time believe me, baby I'm standin here feeling blue Yeah I'm blue Now I will stand in the rain on the corner I'll watch the people go shuffling downtown Another ten minutes no longer And then I'm turning around The (death?) clock on the wall's moving slower My heart it sinks to the ground And the storm that I thought would blow over Clouds the light of the love that I found Now my body is starting to quiver And the palms of my hands getting wet I've got no reason to doubt you baby, It's all a terrible mess I'll run in the rain till I'm breathless (withdrawl/) When I'm breathless I'll run till I drop, hey The thoughts of a fool's kind of careless I'm just a fool waiting on the wrong block, oh yeah Light of the love that I found...

  19. 6 turns gone here in the Essex v Kent Battle Mr Indido (Jelly Head Ruskies) has taken one pot shot at one of my AFVs with one of his T-34's but he was as successful as a Russian manned moonshot as I reversed back into the murk. My recce troops have radioed back the type, size and disposition of his rust riddled and Vodka saturated forces - A Valentine, T-34s, mortars & Mgs etc. Hide & seek continues in the rain with a pause in the action as Mr Jelly's head recovers from eating to much vodka jelly on Sat night
