  2. LOL What no infra-red night goggles?! - A fix is sumfink is shurly in order Thankfully my Umbrelledpandaergrenaders were well equiped by the .25master before battle commenced due to the 1.02 patch. (please disregard this intel Mr Richard of York gave birth in vain)
  3. Mr Khaki v Mr indigo, in the Essex v Kent Great Battle of Dartford, are sweltering in very hot midday rain in the first fumbling steps of engagement... Who by chance got a night time meeting?

  5. Not quite true (yes with PC ATI cards) but not with the Mac ATI retail 32mb card which I have installed in my DP450 G4 and in the survey of screen shots had this said by tec - "You'll be pleased to know, your CMBB looks the best of the one's I've seen! I've put it in a thread on the main forum, and yours is the example of "non-fuzzy" infantry uniforms, next to a fuzzy on taken on a PCI 32mb Radeon. Whatever driver/settings/resolution combination you are using, it is the right one." Smoke and Fog work a treat with this card and drivers, but it seems all the subsequent Mac ATI cards 7500 9500, with 64 and 128mb of vram, fall short in all round performance CMBB (esp' smoke and fog) which has added to the confusion. I was considering getting a dual 866 or 1 Ghz and whilst the turns might I've been processed quicker it seems that the visual experience wouldn't have been significantly better?!? Therefore I'm happily sticking with the combo I have and will upgrade when CM3 appears.
  6. Apparently (Matt said) it's a bug that can't be squashed till the re-write.
  7. Hmmm. Can you try sending me details of your Control panels and Extensions set. Just go to - Control Panels - Extensions Manager (whist booted in OS9.2) - File Menu - Save Set as Text... and then copy and paste the text into an e-mail or attach the text doc and send to me (see in my profile) to see what's possibly going on. Also try rebooting with extensions set to base and see if CMBB works. Try with virtual memory on and off plus give the CMBB app some more memory (get info - General Info - Memory - (I've bumped mine up to 127260k) for CMBB I have a G4 450 DP 512mb RAM with OS9.2.2 OSX10.2.2 with a 32mb AGP ATI Radeon card . A guy called Tec recently did a screenshot survey of all the Mac ATI and Nvidia cards and he said "You'll be pleased to know, your CMBB looks the best of the one's I've seen!... Whatever driver/settings/resolution combination you are using, it is the right one" Hear from you soon. Wicky
  8. Spike, Using Mac OSX's System Preferences - change the Start Up to your OS 9.2 system folder. Reboot to get OS 9 up & running, then install CM and play on. To get back to OSX - Control Panels - Start up - Set to OSX system and viola. Don't persevere with trying to run CM in classic as it only works (when set up) badly at most. There have been a few discussions about CM running on Macs so do a search and find out more that way. Have fun & let us al know if you get tranparent smoke with your sooper dooper ATI card
  9. I've got a 'retail' Radeon 32mb agp card fitted in my DP450 G4 which works a treat at everything I throw at it (smoke etc). But I've noticed some down sampling in CMBB (full) on tank textures. I'm interested to know how later ATI card works as I'm considering a machine upgrade to DP 867 with Nvidia 32mb card or another higher performance retail ATI card but am undecided by all that I hear...
  10. My temporary replacement Mac CD arrived in UK this a.m. Reinstalled a treat. Cheers all the BFC guys for superb support. Especially Matt for his prompt exchanges via e-mail. Back to battle.....
  11. macfixit.com Using Mac OS 9 on Power Mac G4 Mirrored Drive Door systems While Apple may not disallow Mac OS 9 booting on new systems until 2003, the company is already limiting support for the older operating system on the newly shipping Power Mac G4 Mirrored Drive Door systems. Peter Stern details his experience with the situation: "After confirming the system booted normally and Jaguar worked, I set about repartitioning the drive into 2 33gig partitions and an 8 gig partition which was to become a stand alone bootable OS9. A day and a half later, after myriad attempts to install OS9 from a number of different sources, searching the Apple knowledgebase, and 3 calls to Apple's tech support, I finally found a senior tech who confirmed what I was already suspecting. The only version of OS9 that can successfully boot one of these new G4s is a special release of 9.22 that is used for Classic. "The new IDE bus cannot be found by "older" releases of OS9. Symptom, no hard drive found by install disk. The installers will also refuse to run on this computer when you boot from the CD. "The solution offered by the Apple tech was to create the partitions then drag the OS9 system folder onto the 8 gig partition. That worked sort of. When I booted to that partition, I got a desktop and icons but no finder menus visible. I removed the 3 Classic entries in the system folder and rebooted to a normal OS9 desktop which is selectable as a boot drive now. "My next attempt was to try to install OS9 on a firewire drive and boot from that. The only way to get a retail 9.2.1 installer to run, was inside Classic and it placed a system on the firewire drive. The system did not end up being bootable. Next step was dragging the system folder containing 9.2.2 from the OSX drive onto the firewire drive. This caused startupdisk to see the firewire drive as a 9.2.2 drive and I could select it for restart but the system would not boot from it. "These limitations don't apply to eMacs or current iMacs because they use the older IDE bus technology. So if you are buying a new G4 desktop be aware your ability to use pure OS9 is going to be tricky to set up and limited in scope."
  12. Gary, Buy a Mac;)... I've had CMBB in Colchester, Essex for a few days now, just as the cricket season comes to an end and a new job starting on Monday Hang on in there it'll be worth it in the end
  13. I feel for you all waiting in the UK Thankfully I'm a Mac owner (rubbing it in ) with CMBB in Essex and can sympathise with you CDV customers. I got today's CDV newsletter and noticed the lack of intel re. CMBB. When the preorders first came up (on CDV German website) I e-mailed CDV if I could preorder a Mac English version (At that time the CDV English website had been totally lacking in info on CMBB and OK I knew they weren't dealing with the Mac version) but all I got a short reply saying there was no plan to release and no indication of purchasing direct from BFC. From their point of view just a dead end. I'm sure, for your sakes, BFC are lighting a few fireworks under CDV as Matt & co are going 'above and beyond' just sorting out the dodgy disk issue.

  15. Burning a copy via Toast is no good, making a disk copy fails as there is a corruption/bad media problem. I got the app, data folder and scenarios installed OK before the installer calls a halt (bmps 1000 or so short wavs OK). CMBB will not run without rest of folder contents so copied from demo Openplay etc. Frankly the missing bmps cover from what I've tried uniforms and a feew vehicles so all you get is excellent snow camo). 16. Oh dear! I can only get the app to install, data seems OK apart from it being a a couple of hundred BMPs short of a picnic, several other folders don't get installed. Disk copy fails due to disk error/bad media/corruption but the disk looks flawless Copied some missing bits from demo to get it up and going but bmp shortage means things look a bit naked. Well I've got the manual to read as a consolation

  18. My Mac (I think the 1st in the UK) disc looks faultless but it falls just short in the Install. I get a CMBB folder with the application data folder and Scenarios. On first try it says I need Openplay so I grab everthing missing (folders etc) from the demo folder and whoopee it runs, all scenarios are there but someting is amiss with the bmps and lots of 'zebra' soldiers appear without wepons. So I've copied all of the demo data, hopefully this will fill in for the missing data. Matts ftp download fix just seems to have the wav files which I think are OK on my install.
  19. Tried to backup my Mac CMBB disc but it never finishes copying through toast 5.14, the burning gradually slows then stalls at the last fraction. Looked at the size of the CMBB disc which says 701.4mb which seems more than the usual capacity of a CD. (OSX.2 install disk 623.8mb) but toast doesn't error the copying size as to much for the burnable media. Then tried to install and get the bad media error for the CMBB disc.
  20. Good morning, Arrived with the milkman and just as I'm upgrading the 'puter with 10.21... *twitch twitch* can't wait to reboot Ta very muchly BFC, roll on the Magyars! edit: Ooo er bad media error! Disk looks flawless but the PC install error has found it's way here. [ September 25, 2002, 12:44 PM: Message edited by: Wicky ]

  22. Quite a few here, thanks to Parabellum http://www.battlefront.com/cgi-bin/bbs/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=23;t=000821
  23. 6) Other - Got a Mac so like CMBO had to order from US. *Looks nervously overshoulder and draws curtains* If I had a PC I would have beaten the sanctions and arranged to have it shipped to UK by a friendly ' virtual arms dealer' middle man
  24. Was this going through OSX classic or booted into 9.2.2 ? Forget about running CM in OSX, 9.2.2 is the best way (for now) to run CMBO and BB Have you when booted up from you 9.2.2 system folder - tried Extensions Manager / Selected Set / Mac 9.2.2 All or Base set then restarted? - If you physically deleted files from your system folder when early troubleshooting you'll need to reinstall any missing items. Your ibook from looking at its specs should run CM, it's display resolutions for either 12.1" or 14.1" model is OK (optimised for 800-by-600 or 640-by-480). Your ATI Radeon Mobility 16mb is up to the job as well as the standard OS9.2.2 ATI drivers. I believe somehow along the way you've disabled / deleted a vital extension/ that is necessary for CM to function . If that doesn't work I'll pop down to the local PC world and try to replicate your install/running problem.
