June and July 44 had the worst weather registered in the Normandy region since 1900 (clouds, rain and strong winds). -

Weather in Normandy
Thin Red Line replied to Thin Red Line's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
It seems to be a known issue. I'm experiencing it, as well as my PBEM opponent. I'm referring to this : http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?p=1228059 -
I'm not sure if this has been discussed before ; i've read somewhere that fog and rain will present in CMBN (i think they're not in CMSF). Is this confirmed ? If so, will the fog be compatible with Nvidia cards and Windows 7 (currently CMx1's fog tables are not compatible with W7 and nvidia drivers).

Elvis vs. JonS DAR Discussion Thread
Thin Red Line replied to Battlefront.com's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Nice AAR, thank you both JonS and Elvis. I'm intrigued by the KIA/wounded ratio. It seems very high, how is it calculated ? In CMx1 you have typically 1 KIA for 2 wounded. Here it seem to be the other way around (more dead men than wounded ones). Is there an explanation for this ? -

Is this fog rendering problem with Nividia and W7 solved in CMx2 (CM:BN )? TRL -

If things start to go really bad in a battle, it takes weeks, not minutes, for the soldiers to recover. -
Heavy artillery and tanks
Thin Red Line replied to ZPB II's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
That is something i never understood if it is correctly modelled in CM. Artillery was often usen as an anti-tnak weapon in WW2. I don't know about modern war... -
Borg Spotting vs Borg ID'ing
Thin Red Line replied to Kanonier Reichmann's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
In fact in CMx1 there is a graphical bug in the unit info and from it you can tell that the entire unit is entirely killed or not. So if you see a unit entering the woods and after just two turns of shooting the unit info becomes all grey you can tell that it is dead already and probably was a small team like a spotter or light MG. -
CM:BN Beta AAR/DAR Bois de Baugin - German side
Thin Red Line replied to JonS's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Good point, i said that because the high wooden fences are always evocative of american movies to me ! You occasionnaly see them in Normandy in horses stud farms. My recommandation for maps designers would be to use them moderately and place bocage instead. -
CM:BN Beta AAR/DAR Bois de Baugin - German side
Thin Red Line replied to JonS's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Hi JonS, Nice report, thanks for the effort. What are the victory conditions of this scenario ? At first glance and unless i missed something, it seems to be a classical "take the flag" ala Cmx1 scenario type. Cmx2 brought a lot of finesse in the tactical side of the game and it would very nice to see how it plays in the battle of Normandy settings. While i understand the merits of showing an "old style" battle for those among us who never stopped playing the best ww2 game ever, CMx1, i also think it would be beneficial to show how the game has evolved in that aspect. And by the way, from the screenshots i find the normand countryside rather well represented in the map, but the omnipresence of wooden barriers is a very american touch. In France we more commonly use barbed wire enclosures for cattle, and they don't provide any cover against ennemy fire. No idea if they exist in the game. Best, TRL -

Latest Driver from Nvidia
Thin Red Line replied to Frenchy's topic in Combat Mission: Shock Force Tech Support
After a long resistance i had to change from 186 to 260 as my most recent games have more and more problem with drivers 186... Hope the bug will be fixed for CMSF. -

While waiting for CM:N i'd like play a PBEM game ; historical scenario, no QB, any size, side and date. ...

So, i'm lost, what do we do ? Should i buy a Nvidia or ATI now ? Does that make a real difference ? -
I agree ! If this project is still alive, why not say it ? [ August 02, 2007, 11:12 PM: Message edited by: Thin Red Line ]

Location of scenarios for both CMBB and CMAK
Thin Red Line replied to jonp's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
The extension is different for CMAK and CMBB scenario files, and for battle and operations. Check that you put the downloaded scenario in the corresponding game scenario directory. -
