Any Germans received their steelbox yet ?
Scheer replied to Scheer's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Immer noch nichts in Norddeutschland. Und dabei ist Kieler Woche ! Prost ... 8) Still no sign of my two steelboxes ... sniff .... -
Why dont you whip out the editor and build the setupzone you like?

Which comes first: The Patch or The Module?
Scheer replied to Hawkmek's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Anyway, historically you have to wait till 1.03 to get most things fixed .... -
I dont see the need for a QB generator. There will be hundreds of user created maps in the near future. And those maps are far better, than anything the QB generator produces. Yeah, it would be nice to have a QB generator. Or some other thing, like TCP/IP wego or your whole battle as one film , etc ... However I can follow Battlefronts reasoning, how they put their ressources.

First Impressions (CM:BN Full Release)
Scheer replied to Manx's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Yeah, its awesome. And its a lot more simulation and less of a game, methinks. CMx1 has it the other way round,IMHO. I love both. -
Slightly derailing this thread, but is there a way to set points for QB´s like in CMx1 ? Like, In CMx1 I choose a 3000 point battle or a 1250 point one or ... I´m guessing that this option is gone and you choose points through that tiny, small, medium size setting ?

I would like to have a UI that scales with resolution. If you have 1920 * 1200 the UI is rather smallish and kinda hard to see. Is it possible to mod this ?

... can I put the installer on my USB stick, walk over to my buddy and install it there ? Or do I need to download it again on his computer ? I dont want to mess up that online protection thingy ...

Nvidia or ATI that is the question
Scheer replied to phil stanbridge's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
AFAIK Nvidia got the lead in Open GL driver performance at the moment. The ATI drivers are not so hot in Open GL. This seems to be the reason that CMBN is running a little better on Nvidia . I use a Radeon 5750 , btw , with absolutely no problems. But am thinking about getting a Nvidia GTX 560/570 as my next replacement ... -
CMx2: BfN MP impressions-here we go again
Scheer replied to buzzPC's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
I´ve played yesterday with my longtime buddy Strider, me hosting from germany, he joining from california. Went without a hitch, no lag at all. We used teamspeak 3 for comms. Having said that, with noch chance of pausing the game, the demo scenarios are probably to big to coordinate in RT ( for us at least ). We played in soldier mode. -
A friend of mine had to wipe PC Tools Threatfire from his Win 7 64. After that the demo ran just fine. Prior, with Threatfire installed - no go. And yes, you have to deinstall it , turning it off doesnt help ...

And you have to sing " It´s a long way to Tipperary ... " .

CMBN Frame Rates/Performance
Scheer replied to SneakyPete's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
AFAIK ,CMBN is cpu bound. So changing your processor to sumthing faster might help ( not very astonishing ). Or you could overclock your current system. Or turn down the graphical goodness ... -
Beautiful ! Well worth the wait. I´m glad I preordered .... One minor niggle - in the german version there is a menuentry in the pre-setup, named " Entwerferanmerkungen ". Thats VERY awkward german. I think you should name that one " Authoranmerkungen" .

BFC Download server load
Scheer replied to GreenAsJade's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
I´m pretty sure BFC uses sumthing like Akamai or another cloudservice for their bandwith ? -

What toy are you looking forward to play with?
Scheer replied to Krilly's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
My alltime favorite german tank - the Jagdpanzer IV with the 75mm L/48 . In Cmak its almost twice the price of your usual Hetzer, but its much more effective and better suited for longer fights with his larger ammunitionstorage. Also faster firing, then in the cramped Hetzer. -
Fine. Looking forward to it.

That would be fine by me. As long as there are no conflicts when we play against each other online. Does any inhabitant of the great forum has two CMSF installations and one key for both, working together if you play TCP/IP ?
