  1. Was very happy to see this too! Here's to hoping our little favorite modern warfare game remains fictional! (Well, for the most part...you know what I mean. )
  2. It's been confirmed. In the Cold War thread The_Capt said:
  3. Thanks Steve!! I seriously can NOT WAIT for the the BS stuff!
  4. I have a feeling this is the correct train of thought.... As there has been absolute silence I just have a feeling they are waiting to drop something on us and it's just taking a few days longer to get ready.... PLEASE NEW CMBS CONTENT AND NEW CW!!!!!!
  5. Nice, excellent choice honestly. Of all the WWII titles this is the one that I still play too. It's REALLY good.
  6. Javelins. The prevalence of javelins everywhere for US infantry is a HUGE force multiplier and an advantage all the Russians don't have. While Russian squads work integral with their BMP-3Ms as Grey_Fox described, the US can use their infantry independently because of their ability to destroy enemy armor by themselves. This frees up their vehicles to do other things. Additionally, the thermal sight on the Javelin launcher also gives the US very good spotting ability from way out allowing them to employ their technological tricks. The way I think of it is the US can be more surgical while the Russians are much more brute point force. But don't get me wrong, the US can be as much brute force as the rest when need be.
  7. They are using the AK-74 with the 5.45mm round. Additionally the AK-74 has a compensator on the end that completely negates barrel rise from recoil. You can easily see the compensator on the barrels of the 74s in the game I owned one at one time and it was amazing how effective the compensator is and how accurate and smooth the rifle itself is. Honestly, of all the modern military rifles I've owned at one point the 74 was my favorite. So back on point, firing the 74 from the hip or on the move, single shot or short burst is not going to recoil much at all and with a bit of experience wouldn't be difficult to keep shots in the general area you are pointing at.
  8. lcm1947, I started with WWII back in the ole days of CMBO and CMBB. Now though, I pretty much only play modern and find it very difficult going back to anything pre CW. To me, modern is so much better, faster, deadlier and more fun than WWII that there is no comparison in my mind. Be warned! It can hook you bad. Shock Force is really a great intro and I love it. But Black Sea and Cold War are really where it's at, imho of course. I'm literally dying for a BS module about now.
  9. I very much enjoyed seeing the insides. Thought I would share.
  10. What is the latest version of Vin's geo icons for RT? Can someone possibly dropbox it to me if I send you a link? I have version 1.5 but am wondering if I am missing a newer version that is in sync with all the modern games? Thanks in advance!
  11. #Truth On your second point, I have very much adapted this way and learned this from CMBS. Using the BMP-3M as an integrated part of a squad pays dividends and is so part of the Russian Army's strength in BS. Soviet squads do have a nice bit of punch though both in the AT context and anti-personal. That RPG-7 is a nice little equalizer for sure. I am not a fan of losing either my IFVs or my infantry but, as stated, have come to terms with it way more as the Soviets!
  12. Haha! But this is exactly what happens when you use them as the Soviets would. I am learning to stop thinking in CM "casualty terms" and just grit my teeth and realize I am GOING to lose men. Horribly. It's pretty excruciating watching a whole squad (the screams!) brew up in a BMP and just shrugging my shoulders and continuing on.
  13. I meant to say, using this tactic and being at about 35 min in, most of my losses have been from American airpower. But moving really helps defend against any strafing runs their helicopters do as well. It seems to lessen the damage from that far more than sitting still, once again.
  14. I am playing the 1st mission of Ride of the 120th and I believe I am very much learning something about the Cold War and Soviet Doctrine. Truly, it seems to me the best defense for what you say is to keep all your units moving. Seriously, stopping equals death. The training scenarios do a good job of really trying to stress this but it is key. Speed and mobility really are everything. I just threw my whole force straight at the first objective, presented so many targets and just KEEP MOVING. ATGMS will fire, miss and give their positions away to be destroyed. Ride or Die!!
  15. Do you know if they fire all at once or in sequence? Very interesting but I totally see your point about wasting ammunition.
  16. Haha! Enjoying your running commentary. That's a T-90A
  17. Good job and nice work! I used pretty much all my artillery leveling the fort and trenches outside it. As the Americans you have tons of arty, use it!
  18. Awesome! Thank you. Ha, I finally started the March or Die Standard version so just wanted to be sure. And thanks IanL and Redwolf.
  19. Does it fix for a campaign already in progress or should I restart?
  20. Ok, ok, ok...you inspired me. Finally starting and sticking to the Soviet Campaign!
