  1. Nvm. You can delete this. I actually READ some stuff and got it figured.
  2. Please help. I installed the game, when it asked for license key I put in my old CMSF1 marines bundle installation key. It ran through and said success you have unlocked the old version and new version. Then I run the game to play and it says license failure. So I pulled up the activate new products app and put the same key in and same thing. Says it's unlocked but then when I go to play it won't start and says license failure. What am I doing or missing here? I feel stupid.
  3. Yes, thanks a bunch mech.gato and everyone else. So basically after recon by fire there is no real need to clear an entire building and just doing a first floor touch is adequate you think? It's just always been so frustrating knowing that in some battles there are so many buildings to "clear" and not enough strength and/or time to do it. Oh and thanks for the compliments on my Grandfather. He passed years ago but left quite a legacy. He was one of the true unsung heroes of the war. He actually fought on Guadalcanal first before volunteering for the secret mission that became the Marauders. He was one of the tough ones who completed the whole campaign and came out on his own power. Believe me, he had some stories and while he didn't talk much about it at the end of his life he started to open up and share with me because he knew my interest. I have his pin and Marauders patch and my uncle has all his medals and other patches. Purple heart, two Bronze Stars and the Presidential Unit Citation.
  4. I'm curious what the rest of you do in a certain situation as this has been bugging me for awhile and I really don't know what the answer is. Say you have a platoon tasked with clearing out a bunch of different buildings. Let's put it at 10 different buildings, each 5-6 stories yet you only have one hour. In my opinion it's impossible to have your squads go floor to floor in every building but my question is, is that even necessary? Do you just basically go in to the first floor and that's it? It just seems some missions task you with more than what's possible for the time limit but I'm wondering if I think I have to do too much. Make sense?
  5. I finished with a US major victory! I was also comfortable at the end and just holding tight but was still nervous. Also highly recommended. I love fights like this that aren't extremely difficult and give a reasonable chance for victory.
  6. Since there has been talk of lack of scenario reviews from the community I figured I'd post this as my little caveat to the great scenario designers out there. I am 34 minutes into this battle in WEGO and have to say it's superb! It's been completely immersive, nail-biting and intense and I'm loving it. Thanks for this one!! I wish there were more scenarios like this for CMBS. It's really fun putting one's self in role of commander and trying to hold on the way this scenario calls for. I'll be happy to discuss it more or give more feedback or criticism (not that I have any so far!) if anyone feels like discussing it. So far I feel like I've made mostly right decisions and played this one just the way it should be.
  7. Any new updates?? Patiently waiting for this one. Well, maybe not so patient, case in point.
  8. Loved your CMA campaign and was always looking forward to a second one! This, I can't wait for though. Really excited to see that you are doing the campaign from both sides and also making the scenarios available for H2H!! I have a certain opponent that I'm sure would like to have a go at the long slog through it. Thanks for doing this!!
  9. Thanks guys. It's helped so far, I can definitely confirm that. When stationary I've, for the most part, rolled my vehicles into tree cover. I had one shot at by a helicopter and the missile blew up in the trees instead of hitting the vehicle!
  10. Just curious if anyone knows for sure... I'm playing the Russian campaign and in the current battle I can hear Ukrainian helicopters snooping around. Will placing my vehicles under the tree canopy protect them in any way? I'm actually not even sure what type of helicopter the Ukrainians employ or what their technology may be. Probably should look that up eh? I have no AA assets and I'm wondering if there is anything I can do or are my vehicles just unlucky sitting ducks? Thanks in advance!
  11. Completely fascinating! Thanks for posting. I couldn't stop watching.
  12. Well thanks to the blizzard last night I didn't have to work today! What better way to spend a snowed in day? Black Sea is the best yet in my opinion. It's completely engrossing and consuming. This is the game I've been waiting for since falling for modern era because of Shock Force. I'm completely loving playing as the modern Russian Army. Now I have to split my time playing as the Soviets in WWII and the Russians in the Ukraine, oh the humanity! Great work gang, you continually impress year after year. Combat Mission is the only game I've played so intensely and for so long. Sheesh, since 2001! Fourteen years of non-stop combat goodness. Ok, I'm fawning. But seriously, this title really deserves the praise. Just incredible.
  13. SPOILER, posted casualty numbers so don't look if you haven't played it! | | | | | | | | | | Just played this one too and had a total blast (no pun intended)! I won a total victory for the US with 2 KIA and 9 WIA while killing 18 Russian troops and wounding 14. It was a nail bitingly tense scenario but completely sucked me in. Completely engaging to say the least. I never even used my mortar teams as the enemy was never really out in the open.
  14. Completely forgot about Jason Mark. I bought "Death of the Leaping Horsemen" ages ago when it was released. It was expensive at the time but really worth it!
  15. I've been really engrossed with this one. It's told entirely from a soldier's POV and perspective. Good stuff. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/618453.In_Deadly_Combat
  16. For those of you that don't know, I'm a huge black powder guy and have done Civil War reenacting for many years. My collection as it stands right now: 1861 Springfield .58 1862 Richmond Rifle .58 1842 Springfield .69 smoothbore 1816 Harpers Ferry .69 smoothbore flintlock 1858 Lorenz .54 Hawken .54 percussion (built by my late father) Hershel House .40 flintlock Bill Buckely .45 flintlock .69 flintlock smooth rifle (built by my late father) .36 flintlock squirrel rifle (built by my late father) Original 1884 Springfield Trapdoor .45-70 Pistols: 1860 Colt Army .44 (I have two, one by Colt, one by Pietta) 1851 Colt Navy .36 1861 Colt Navy .36 1861 Colt Navy Civilian .36 1858 Remington New Model Army .44 Rogers and Spencer .44 Colt Walker .44 Colt Dragoon .44 Cartridge BP 1872 Colt Single Action .45 by Beretta 1873 Colt Open Top Conversion .45 I reload, cast all the round balls and Minie balls and make all my own ammo and cartridges for all of them.
  17. Oh believe me, there is nothing I enjoy more or shoot more than my black powder stuff. If I had to get rid of everything else I would keep all my black powder guns. And really, it's not THAT bad! Lol. Although, as a slight caveat, I've shot on days that were just after a rain and the air was just right and the smoke from the guns just hangs and then sits right in front of you. Awesome stuff and nothing better!! Then again, shooting two cap and ball pistols at the same time, one in each hand, just ripping them off does create quite the cloud.
  18. Speaking of Lucas! Combat Mission: Revenge of the Soviets. Yes, you may proceed to groan now.
  19. Nice. The gun is made in Germany and imported here to the US. I figured it would be a bit cheaper for you guys over there. Pretty cool too that my Stg 44 really is German made!
  20. There has been a terrible shortage of .22 ammo for going on over a year now. Most ammo has been short but now it's really dragging out with the .22 supply. It's because of incredibly stupid panic buying that happened when all kinds of rumors started, mostly by the NRA (who I can't stand btw), that Obama and the Democrats were going to take everyone's guns. People freaked and went out and started buying and hoarding everything they could get their hands on. Gun prices went through the roof and stores were virtually empty of everything gun related. Even reloading components are hard to come by. Luckily I'm a huge black powder guy so I don't have to worry about a lot of that. Anyway, the panic has now subsided but the ammo companies have had a really difficult time catching back up. It's starting to let up now and you can find ammo in stores, granted not at the levels we had before though, but .22 is still particularly hard to find and when you do find it it's still usually double, or more, of what it cost just over a year ago. Because it's more profitable for companies to make larger caliber ammo and since .22 is so cheap it's more cost effective for them to make the larger stuff and leave the small little .22 by the wayside. For .22 lovers it really sucks. And most everybody who shoots owns a .22. They are completely fun and (normally) cheap but not til this drought is over. Luckily I had some put away from 2-3 years ago but nothing like hoarding levels, just a couple thousand. It used to be you could buy a box of 500 for $18 or so, so having a few thousand on hand wasn't unusual. The panic buying and hoarding people were buying tens of thousands at a time. I reload for my .30-06 and .45acp for my Thompson and for the last year I can hardly find bullets, powder or primers for anything.
  21. Mine was $550 but I made a straight up trade for it so it didn't set me back a penny. I also ordered just one extra mag for it but think I'm going to order 2-3 more. I still have about 2000 .22 that I stocked up on awhile ago but hopefully they start to be more available. It's nice still that I can shoot this relatively cheap. And yes, I kind of wish they would make one in 7.62x39mm. It would be super close to the original and I don't see why it couldn't be done. Still, I REALLY REALLY like this version and am super happy to have it!! I already have an original k98 and Mosin Nagant so this fits right in. I also have a Garand, Lee Enfield MkIII and a short barreled Thompson. Hehehe. I may be persuade to post pics if you all really want to see them. I also heard rumors that GSG is going to make a BAR .22 replica. I'm so down for that too if they do.
  22. My birthday present to myself. Just had to share with you guys. I got this today in honor of FINALLY going back to the east front. This is a GSG Stg 44 but in .22 caliber. It weighs and feels almost exactly like the original. It's as close as any of us can come to actually owning an original. One word, awesome. I totally love it and can't wait to get out and shoot it. This is the limited collectors edition crate it came in. I love it!!
  23. I pre-ordered on the first day too. Been waiting so long for this I don't even remember. Probably since Shock Force came out, lol. I played nothing but CMBB long after SF came out dreaming of the combination of this theater with the new engine. I'm seriously counting the days. The thing that will truly make my life complete now is the announcement of Black Sea. Soon???
