  1. Talking of which, i recently dusted off my copy and have been playing again, there are loads of new scenarios still appearing, alot from peoples personal experiences in Iraq and Afganistan whicha really good. So i cannot wait for the new title to be launched. Are there any bones anyone at BF can throw to us patiently waiting??
  2. The last version of the panther had a new shape to the lower mantlet to remove the shot trap, so it was definitly a problem for earlier verisons of the panther.
  3. Well presented arguement, agree especially for small/med guns it would give them some more flexibility in battle.
  4. Definitely an (unquantifed) improvement in performance for me. I have a hi spec pc and it did annoy me that the game can seem a bit lagy at times. The patch has made the game much smoother.
  5. The best Tolkien movie for me is LOTR part 1, just like the first part of the book it was brilliant, slowly Jackson seems to have become more self-indulgent and the films really tailed off. Like you i really wanted to like the Hobbit, maybe when all three are out someone will be able to cut the 3 into 1 good movie
  6. Is that the chance of hitting the intended target or anything. I would say with all those troops in a small area the chance of them hitting something must be pretty high!
  7. On a slightly related subject, i love the late StugIII machine gun. It is still roof mounted but fired from inside the tank, really good. (can't wait to see it Helzer using it as well in the near future)
  8. If that trend continues across all the data it seems to stack up quite closely to the after actions stats in CMBN!
  9. I think it works fine as is, there is more than enough evidence to show blue on blue contacts in modern warfare let alone back in WW2. I was really commenting on my own mis-fortunes in using CAS, it is not meant as dissatisfaction on the way the game models CAS as I think it is about right.
  10. There is hardly an air support mission that goes by without me taking friendly fire!!! So frustrating but realistic. The problem is the delay, quite often the battle has moved on from when i called in the strike 10+mins ago, and i do not want to cancel it as they can be so devestating on the enemy. Maybe if i had to write to the pixeltroopen wives and mothers that their boy was killed by friendly fire I would be more carefull!!
  11. With the choice of : SEGA - set release date and release the game on that date no matter what state it is in BF - release it when the developers are happy for it to be be released I think Battlefront have it right, it can be frustrating when you know a great game is out "soon" but at least it will be to the standard the developers want.
  12. I assumed this was a genuine defence plan from the AI , as it avoids losses from a heavy bombardment at the most likely defended places. Then when the enemy troops reach the location they counter attack.
  13. Have you considered that 3 months solid CM playing time could means he is your nemesis when you next play him.
  14. Great days discovering CMBO, I wish there was an hours played counter as I must have clocked up quite a few. Hopefully many more installments to come.
  15. Well this thread has inspired me to go and score this game highly on metacritic Sounds like a very negative view that the BFC fan base is shrinking, are all the fans over the hill and on borrowed time!! I hope it is increasing as the games develop more and more. I started playing CM1 so i must admit if i came to CMBN now it could be a more frustrating game initially as there is less feedback as to what is going on compared to CM1 IMO. But the game looks great, plays great and i am sure there are lots of new players getting over the learning curve and sticking with it.
  16. That looks like it is the one on show at the British tank museum. I think if memory serves it was a prototype captured at a german proving ground.
  17. If i could keep track of everything going on on the battlefield i would love to go real-time. But it feels like i am missing half the action, so WEGO is the pause and rewind on the movie that allows you to enjoy the details you would otherwise miss.
  18. I was a nice surprise to see a lot more qb maps prefixed by Holland
  19. Great news MG is out, i am looking forward to getting stuck into the new campaign at the weekend, but is it too early to ask for any info on the next planned release (as there is still a lot pending from Steve's to do list - Eastern Front, Shock force 2 etc).
  20. Don't worry Europe - normal purchase done and downloading - thanks BF
  21. The one thing i can say about the "start of actual news" thread is that it is 1% actual news and 99% nonsense
  22. The Normandy setting is superb for CM, I guess as previously posted each to their own. I also think it is the mark of an excellent game if the same game engine can make the different theatres feel so different. So roll on SF2 and the eastern front
