  1. Did you see the air support additions their giving Red? Air Support: MiG-23 MiG-21bis Su-25 Su-22M Su-17M Mi-24P Mi-24DI think they've stretched this fictional war with Syria pretty much as far as it can go. Besides, I think most of us are looking forward to MG-42s rocking & rolling along with Shermans getting brewed up.
  2. I'll second that, ArmaII is still good against the AI. I mostly play it single player.
  3. I hope your not referring to my legendary muffler post, that was pure genius. And recently I just so happen to grace the Peng thread once again with my presence. This time Techno Viking makes an appearance, you'll have to go take a peek to find out for yourself.
  4. You know you love it, admit it, especially when the Techno Viking saves the girl from the drunk guy with the black tanktop. Then gets his energy dance boost from drinking water at 1:30 in. It's priceless. Or your just jealous because you don't have Techno Viking's mad dance skillz.
  5. How Duke Nukem Forever was brought back to life! Makes for a good story, but let's see how the finished product looks and plays. Nonetheless, it will be great to play the foul mouthed ass-kicker again. Hell, the nostalgia of it alone will probably be enough for many to buy it, at least for me anyway.
  6. Speaking of which, whats the word on whether the Proving Grounds site(scenarios/Ops in beta) and the Scenario Depot II site(scenarios/Ops tested/tweaked) will support the new CMN? I'd be willing to bet the answer will be absolutely yes. This kind of phasing-in of scenarios is what the CMSF scenarios sometimes lacked. You out there GJK?
  7. I'd be willing to bet it's the refresh rate. What kind of monitor do you have, CRT or LCD? If CRT than anything below 75Hz can give headaches, I play all my games at 85Hz. If LCD than I think the rate doesn't have to be as high, not sure though, don't own one. I assume your talking about the new Bad Company 2 game. It's damn fun when playing on the hardcore servers. I can't stand the normal servers where it takes several bullets to kill. Also slows the pacing down too, less Rambo's running around then.
  8. So are the rumors true, is something gonna happen this weekend? Or will it be yet another quiet weekend with a false alarm.
  9. I'd be willing to bet they're not allowed to discuss the details of it in an open forum. But oh well, pointless chit-chat never hurt anyone.
  10. While on the topic of the power supply, don't go cheap. I had a expensive alienware system long ago that died because of a power supply failure, it was a cheap one. Good ones won't take out the CPU or MB when they die. So lesson learned the hard way, my current system I got the nice Corsair 750W.
  11. I consider the official start of videogame censorship or shaming was back in the early 90s. When the arcade hit Mortal Kombat was coming to the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis. There was a big hoopla about the fatality's and even Nintendo censored their version of the game. Even my dad said he didn't want to buy it for me. I still give him sh!t about it to this day, of course he just laughs about it now. Anyways, here's an update, MoH has now been banned from all military stores in the US. http://kotaku.com/5628741/gamestop-pulls-video-game-from-military-stores-over-taliban-inclusion IMO these controversies are created by the devs on purpose. Just look at the CoD:MW2 level where you gun down innocents in the airport. That game went on to break sales records worldwide. Surely that controversy helped achieve it.
  12. Has anybody seen this film? Here's the trailer: It's based on a small group of Soviet soldiers during the 1979-1989 Afghan war. It was just released in DVD/Blue Ray on Aug 31st. It gotta 73% over at RT but that's only from 15 reviews. It's in my Netflix blue-ray queue but the ship date is unknown, probably since it's foreign.
  13. Nox, do a RO search, you'll see plenty of attention to this game going all the way back to the mod days, might be archived though. We even posted our Steam nicknames to more easily find each other online. Also some added a "BF" to denote that their from the BF forums too. It's just that the GF has slowly but surely become dormant nowadays, few come here anymore. But anyways, we won't let that stop us, here's a new interview: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2010/09/02/red-orchestra-heroes-of-stalingrad-vehicles/ This is music to my ears. I'm all for quality over quantity considering the sim-like detail and fully animated tank crewman. Now I'm even more pumped about the new RO.
  14. What store are you thinking of buying from? From my experience you can always find better deals online versus in-store ones. I bought from cyberpowerpc.com and have no complaints, got a great deal. Also I've heard good things about ibuypower.com. Although sites like alienware.com and falcon-nw.com make top notch systems, but are way overpriced. Good to hear your willing to take the time and do your homework before making a purchase. I remember it took me like three months of comparing, researching, and tracking down prices before pulling the trigger. By the way, this is a great tool to help you compare performance from one card to the next. http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/gaming-graphics-cards-charts-2009-q3-high-quality-update-1/3DMark06-v1.1.0-3DMark-Score,1533.html
  15. A 64-bit OS is not a must-have IMO. For starters, next to no games on the market today take advantage of more than about 3-4G of RAM. Even still, in most cases 2G is fine. But if your set on that CPU then you should really get a 64-bit OS to take full advantage of it. But don't sweat getting more than 4G of RAM, at least not for a couple of years. I bought a new PC in March of 09 and gotta 32-bit Vista with 4G RAM. But only 3.3G is seen by the OS and IIRC this is determined by how much memory your graphics card has(mine is 9800GTX+ 512mb). So even on a 32-bit OS the 4G RAM is still well worth it. I can pretty much play all the latest games at max settings, no problem. Big reason for this, and it doesn't get discussed as much, is because it's on a CRT monitor at a lower rez of 1024x768. Those with LCDs usually are forced to play at a much higher rez, thus killing performance in most cases.
  16. You see, this is what happens when you take off for a quick weekend getaway and leave the lights on.
  17. This is long overdue since we all got M1s excellent Syrian HD faces awhile ago. I do recall sending him a bunch of pics in hopes to get him to make a US HD faces mod. I guess he never got around to it. This is looking good Ryu, keep up the good work. Is there a Latino face in the default game? There certainly should be as there's plenty serving.
  18. I see I wasn't the only that liked it. Even better was to watch a huge Russian rocket salvo let loose. Ahh the fireworks!
  19. Actually I think it was me who threw out the idea of a rolling 30 second time block replay. Just meant as a starting point for this feature, to help get it off the ground sorta speak. Of course a full minute is the ultimate goal of it. But great point about saving the files and using them for AARs. Perhaps if ever something like RT/Replay is ever implemented perhaps there could be a way to save the 30 or 60 second blocks. Not that any of this chit chat really matters. Since I think Steve mentioned something like this wouldn't even get considered until farther down the CMx2 road. Also that the technical hurdles would probably make this not worth the effort. But ya never know. Bring on the Black Widow, I'll be armed with a Brown Recluse.
