  1. Your not the first to make this complaint and certainly won't be the last. But I highly doubt they hold stuff back deliberately to milk us. If it really does start to look like they're gimping releases to make more modules(more money), then they will lose customers. Although it's part of the reason why I'm not gonna buy the NATO module. Since it appears to me it's just more blue units with scenarios and a campaign to show them off. No new red units, terrain, flavor objects, and my pipe dream for the new QB. I do hope I'm proven wrong though.
  2. It's been awhile since I first added a mod, the Z folder may not exist yet, you might have to make it. I'm on Vista and the default install path is C: Program files\Battlefront\CMSF\Data\Z. If you don't see the Z folder then just make one and add mods to it.
  3. Have at it! http://www.youtube.com/user/chromefastball I did alright and clocked in at 2:30.
  4. Bottom line, if you dig CMSF and have none of the modules. Then it's a no-brainer to grab the mod bundle.
  5. This is just more eye candy or bells & whistles really, not that important. Don't get me wrong though, more flavor objects would be great, everybody in their right mind wants more. But look at the high detail skin and models for the existing AFVs, it would be no small task to do justice to a downed Apache, F15 or whatever. So the select few scenarios that would feature them probably doesn't warrant the effort involved to make them. Bottom line, I don't think anybody wants to see other modules or games delayed so we can get more flavor objects in CMSF. The example of Arma II really isn't a good one. These are two completely different genre of games. You can't get away with abstractions like this in Arma II because it's a FPS. Simple as that. (But it's an amazing game though, I love it!) Although I do like the idea of having dead bodies as flavor objects, it makes sense for the same reason we already have KOed AFVs available.
  6. But if you do take a chance and haul ass to the door, don't forget to pop smoke before rushing the building. This not only hides your advance from the target building but also from surrounding potential threats. Of course covering fire always helps too.
  7. This reminds of a few nurses I, um use to party with. I remember thinking, wow nurses are party animals, I had no idea. The one that stood out most was Kim. She was your typical coc-head, I'd imagine she got into the drug for those long night-shifts nurses work. My buddies and I use to joke saying "Damn, imagine being in the hospital and Kim was your nurse!". Somewhat of a scary thought. Last I heard she was in jail, no shocker there.
  8. I normally only allow the girls to call me that, but given the spirit of this thread, sure I'll make an exception.
  9. I agree, but the trend still goes for CMSF, even BF acknowledges this and they have the sales numbers too.
  10. Sounds like somebody is itching for the Fourth of July weekend. Relax, it's almost here, just a few more days to go and BLAMO!
  11. I don't think it's possible to accurately track how many play MP compared to AI. Like other games, CMSF doesn't have servers running with players coming and going to easily track how many play MP. It's a common trend with most PC games that the vast majority only play solo against the AI. But they could get a more accurate idea with a poll along with maybe a tech survey to see where their customers are at tech-wise.
  12. Check out the byte battles, good quick fun. Just wish there was more of them. http://www.kretsen.nu/bytebattler/cmsf/dl.htm
  13. No no no no, wrong question, since they're all very do-able besides IT at the bottom. The real question is, how many drinks would it take you to do-it with that monster?
  14. What a ripoff I want my money back!
  15. Never heard of any PC game designed for a certain rez. I'm sure they do for console games though, since TVs only have a few different resolutions(HD and non-HD TVs). Hence, part of the console to PC port problems. But for PC, there's just too many people with different rigs and resolution preferences to cater to just one.
  16. Brazil wins hands down! P.S. Serious warning, don't scroll below it.
  17. Wouldn't it be obvious what was coming your way? I think everybody would know it was the...... FLAIR MONSTER!!!:eek::eek:
  18. Simple then, make the use of flares determined by the player and not the TacAI. It would be easier to implement too. Just give a face command, then flare command(instead of pop smoke), several seconds later the area will be lit up green or red or whatever. Keep it simple or like Chops said, it'll push the release date back another year.
  19. CMN will ship with a flare gun and a few spare flares so players can shoot their own flares while playing. This will add amazing immersion.
  20. The higher the resolution, the bigger hit on performance in games. I play on 1024x768 with my CRT monitor, still happy with it. But I do plan on making the leap to a big ole fat widescreen LCD someday.
  21. Well it's being sold by five different sellers, some with very high ratings. I wonder what's actually in the book, sounds like the manuals for all the games listed. Perhaps an included CD with all the game demos. But I think there would be copyright issues with the manuals correct? Pretty bland front cover though:
  22. Huh, fanboy? Usually when somebody says they find CMSF boring it can be attributed to little desire for the modern setting. It's not meant to be taken literally, ex. "You only play WWII games period". Nobody can make predictions on somebody's gaming habits or preferences. Nor did I say there was anything wrong with it. Besides I use to have the exact same opinion. Personally, my main motivation for buying CMSF at launch was to see the new engine which the eventual WWII game will be on. I shelved CMSF until 1.10 since it was too buggy and had little desire for the modern setting. But since they patched it up nicely, despite all the doomsayers at launch, I couldn't care less about the fictional setting. Bottom line, as long as it's a solid wargaming experience, which CMSF has certainly become. Them I'm with any game regardless of the setting.
  23. This part falls under the category of "It's not WWII!". The 1:1 ratio just adds more immersion to the game. Nothing more and nothing less.
  24. While we're at it, has the problem of a unit firing off multiple rockets at the exact same time been brought up? Just the other day I had a three man HQ unit fire all three of their AT-14s at the exact same time at an enemy tank.
