  1. "How about a tastefully done skull and crossbones symbol for casualties." There is one for CMBN and CMFI. Haven't checked to see if it works in CMRT.
  2. Welcome to CM2, JUJU. I am sure you will grow to enjoy it as much as we all do. Check out the mods. Some of them are quite good.
  3. Others have said it b4. If BF could make CM2 into a WW2 computer train sim, they would be onto something really big. AFAIK, there is NO train sim that covers Europe in the 30's and 40's.
  4. The game just doesn't look finished without Bergman and JuJu mods.
  5. The important thing is how well you treated your pet(s) (or any loved ones) during life. That's the best that any of us can do. Once gone, they're gone. No regrets. And yes, throwing oneself into work helps.
  6. Never thought about that b4. I think I only played one scenario where range was an issue, and it was warned about in the briefing. So, if an offboard arty has a short range, is it measured from a map edge or corner, or from where...?
  7. CM1 is a better "game" than CM2 which tries to be more of a simulation. While I really enjoy CM2, I find it a LOT more work, and I burn out a lot quicker than I did with CM1. However, after a few weeks away (playing for example Grigsby's massive War in the Pacific or War in the East games), I always come back and enjoy CM2 again. But, with any game, I think you either "get it" immediately, or you'll probably never like it. It's a game after all, and not supposed to be arduous to play.
  8. yeah... vs AI, I wasn't impressed with ARMA. All the running about, the complexity of moving units, selecting teams etc. I felt that I could not keep up with the AI troops who imo were doing silly things. However, I can see that playing RT online with only humans would be a very exciting/traumatic experience. But, I rarely have that much contiguous time. A big reason that folks like me like games vs AI is that we can do a few minutes, stop for any length of time, and come back to it at our convenience. I really did enjoy the old Panzer Elite PC game vs AI that was out at the turn of the century(?) That was similar-ish in scale to ARMA but way more crude and very buggy of course. different strokes etc...
  9. My last cat made it to almost 20 and we had a great relationship. It strikes me that we humans are like gods to these critters.
  10. The Russians probably want to make CM programming graphics easier since it won't require so much work to do a bunch of guys in balaclavas. If you add in the goggles so no eyes needed, much easier.
  11. Win 7 64 bit even has a 32 bit emulator, so either way it's no problem.
  12. "...a few aimed shots..." Isn't that what we're talking about? Unless one is saying they want three levels of accuracy: "Spray and Pray"; "General Shooting" and "Aimed Fire". Not sure if it would be worth the hassle.
  13. I always thought that the manual said that "TARGET LIGHT for infantry at least was "aiming carefully" while TARGET was more high volume suppressive fire
  14. That is interesting. My question is how does one "touch" a minefield without finding it, when the only way to find it is when someone blows up.
  15. It could be that the mortar crew is also the jeep crew.
  16. "This is the version for Combat Mission Red Thunder and includes icons for Soviet and German units." I looked at this mod and didn't see any Russian icons, so this is for CMFI, not CMRT, yes?
  17. The file says CMBN. I didn't see a Russian subfolder. Just checking...
  18. I read a thread earlier that said that if you had a passenger on a tank and the crew abandoned it, the passengers become the crew(!). Haven't tried it myself. But, if true, BF will probably put a stop to that fun in the next patch. So enjoy while you can...
  19. Moving along or across rails in CM1 definitely was slow. (Can't recall having to do that in CM2 yet.)
  20. "...if I want to overwrite them for some reason and don't want to remove them, I have a ZZ sub-folder where I put other stuff. That's all you need." That's the clear answer I was hoping for. Thank you guys. (I had been doing both "just to be sure"... putting desired new mods in a ZZ "Test Mods" folder PLUS adding ZZ's to the actual mod folder that was inside the ZZ "Test" folder as well. Glad I don't have to do the latter.)
