  1. You guys are a couple years behind the curve. That's the problem with aging.
  2. Yup, didn't read it carefully enuff. Too many posts, so little time.
  3. Yes of course time vs reward is always an issue. But, BF has shown that it can also boil down to whether enough customers feel the same way about something. I only have a hazy idea as to whiich features are hard or easy to program in. But, for example bringing back one click 180 degree arcs should not be too hard. What the arcs actually make a unit do may well be more complex.
  4. I agree with John on that. I am sure someone at BF puts a lot of work into those shaded pages, but it mainly makes the manual harder to read.
  5. Friendlies won't take casualties from small arms fire that is aimed close by, but they will get pinned/suppressed a bit.
  6. As people keep noticing, there were many features in CM1 that worked rather well. If we keep politely pointing that out, hopefully BF will put them back in in their own time. BF has already reintroduced several useful CM1 features into CM2. So, there is hope.
  7. http://brtrain.wordpress.com/2014/03/16/a-new-pnp-game-ukrainian-crisis/
  8. Great pics. I have a load (pre-digital era) pics of Russian and Finnish military museums. Need to find em and scan.
  9. Any chance of making radio the far right image, since that is the longest range. The increasing range concept doesn't work as is.
  10. Re "VISUAL CLOSE" how about a hand or arm waving. That is what one would see.
  11. The trouble is Luke, that is IS true. Just do the math. Maybe you only play small scenarios?
  12. I also found that 81mm didn't do a good job on the foxholes in the Nijmegan missions. However, the 105mm did an xnt (too good?) a job at killing JPZ IV's. I was able to use arty to kill most of them.
  13. Yes, me too plz. The mods look terrific. I got excited at the site. The I realized they were for a different game.
  14. When I were a lad there was one stair in our house that squeaked. My dad was a fairly violent chap and if his sleep was disturbed by someone stepping on that step he could go into an apoplectic rage. This went on for years, till my mother had enough and ordered him to fix the step. Problem solved and the house was peaceful after that. Why do we continually have to make silly excuses for things that are obviously a problem and need fixing? No one is saying it has to be done tomorrow... Hopefully, BF can just put it on the "to do" list when they can get around to it.
  15. Well if WYSIWYG is true, the shells were landing quite accurately. Like I said, I rarely recall any incident of troops going "fanatic". When one experiences "outliers" in just about every scenario or mission one plays, then that is indicative of a problem.
  16. I will be out of country till May 28, so I'm voting for May 29. Let BF have the time to really do a great job, folks.
  17. In the instance I am thinking of, there was an AA gun and only one WIA (yellow) man surviving to man it. But, he popped up in the WEGO turn immediately after I lifted the barrage. He then accurately fired and badly damaged two tanks. Maybe this doesn't happen 100% of the time, but I would estimate between 30% and 50% which is still too much imo. The question is what is an "outlier"? I think an "outlier" should be around the 1%-5% mark. maybe the same % as the probability of going "beserk"? (Have no idea what % that is however.)
  18. Hi Vinnart. In case you missed it: "A few seconds wasted here and there multiplied by several dozen units over a hundred turns or more adds up to hours wasted in frustration."
  19. I think 30 secs is way too quick to recover from several minutes of 105mm bombardment plus half a dozen tanks firing all out at your foxhole. Maybe if you are elite, I don't know...,
  20. The issue is the importance of making a very complex game as easy as possible to play so that one isn't fighting the UI while at the same time trying to execute complex tactics. This challenge grows exponentially as the size of scenarios increase. A few seconds wasted here and there multiplied by several dozen units over a hundred turns or more adds up to hours wasted in frustration. Other features that could be simplified and that would save a lot of time: The BIG three: Selectable waypoints/lines that would instantly enable one to select the unit (as with CM1) Ability to acquire from adjacent vehicles (within reason and with time penalty of course) rather than currently having to 1) split into a team, 2) embark, 3) acquire, 4) disembark, 5) join with the rest of the squad... (Also, ability to select how much ammo in 100 round increments. Currently, sometimes the min is 1,000.) One click 180 degree arcs (as with CM1). In the larger map maneuver games that I hope are coming in future CM2 releases, it will be increasingly important to have vehicle turrets facing in certain directions during movement. I already use 180 degree arcs most of the time, and it's a PITA to make them using the current system. Other features: The one second issue per this thread Color coding so one can instantly see all teams of a squad Ability to see the main campaign briefing during the missions of a campaign
  21. I understand HE effects have been nerfed, but perhaps an even more important issue is that HE doesn't seem to pin/suppress as well as it should. I regularly pile on 105mm plus 75mm HE tank rounds for one or two minutes (on a gun) and find that not only are there survivors, but the crew recovers within seconds and return fire effectively. Suppression should last longer.
  22. I keep all my mods in sub (Z) folders called SOUNDS, UI, FX, UNIFORMS, TERRAIN etc. But, I wonder if that slows loading of the game since doesn't the computer have to load and unload files till it gets to the folders named (EG) "ZZZZZZZZZZZ WHATEVER"?
  23. All I can say is that it's very important that you take care of yourself. The medics I am sure are doing all they can.
