  1. Just so we don't faint from holding our collective breath, any ETA? A week, a month?
  2. Some designers are good about this. But yes, it should be part of standard procedure. Also, when writing AAR's one should tell the reader whether one played WEGO or in RT - it usually makes a big difference in one's result.
  3. Thanks for the fabulous mods, Umlaut. I had a thought that if you name your mods starting with your name like "Umlauts whatever" rather than "Snowy whatever by Umlaut" then they all group together in our mod folder under "U" for Umlaut. (Just makes mod management easier.)
  4. Really enjoying CMFB. Playing the German campaign natch, and very impressed with the maps (and scenario situations) for the first 3 missions I have gotten thru. Xnt work!
  5. Love what Juju has done. However, I have to admit I do like the Marco Bergman weapons UI mod that shows caliber and range. I tried putting in the CMBN version but too many weird things happen with the text.
  6. Yes, if this is the way it looks onscreen and not photoshopped, it's very impressive.
  7. Love this mod idea. Great when the game can be a bit "subversive". (Am still hoping someone will do ISIS, Turkish and Kurd mods for CMSF so we can fight current situation in Syria.)
  8. Yesh! This is one of the mandatory mods that make the CM2 games look complete. Thanks, Juju!
  9. Hi Richie. FWIW I also remember Tiger Valley - played as the Germans. (That's the one with the Tigers, right?) A lot of fun. You design for CM2??
  10. Pre-ordered same here... Looking forward to this.
  11. I was very happy to (accidentally) hear about this pack and have it now. Be aware that when the pack installs you are not given the choice to BROWSE and install into the folder of your choice (if you have installed CMBN to a different folder than default). Fortunately, one can manually move the files into the desired folders and they seem to work fine.
  12. I too didn't notice there is a CMBN pack for sale(!). Are there any other new packs or modules released in the past few months???
  13. I love it. Thanks for working on this NA mod. NA is a completely different feel than the mainland Europe settings - which all start to feel very similar.
  14. I wanted to say thanks to Steve and the rest of the gang at BF... I was able to get CMSF running fine. I was really dreading the reinstall, expecting half a day of work. But, thanks to the instructions it only took about 30 minutes. Redoing the mod folders on all the CM2 titles is what will take an enormous amount of time. That's cos as you know, many mods no longer work with newer game versions. However, there is no way to know what will work and what will not work without installing each mod separately and restarting the game and looking at em individually. And there are hundreds of mods for each game that will need to be checked. So... is there any way to automate the task so that the game system can tell a player what mods will no longer work (and can be deleted)? Looking forward to Blitzkrieg. I know the extra time you are spending on it is what will make it an even better product.
  15. "Plus,as a player I've not even scratched the surface of at least 50% of the content I already have ... " I bet it's less than 10% for most of us. I doubt that I have completed all the campaigns for a single CM title, let alone all of the scenarios. Having said that, the campaigns are the only way to play that shows off all the impressive features of CM Campaign System re ammo resupply, replacements, conservation of force and materiel etc. It's what makes playing CM "real" vs the "fight to the last man cos there is no future" that so many scenarios (and unfortunately many of the newer campaigns) end up as. My hope is that BF will put more focus on better-made and more "sophisticated" campaigns that demonstrate all the campaign feature possibilities - even if one has to pay extra for campaign modules.
  16. The fact that BF is taking its time to get CMFB "right" is a decision that we should be applauding. "You only have one chance to make a good first impression." BF has committed itself to making the best possible product and to not release a buggy product (I'm looking at you, Microsoft) or be a slave to some abstract date forced on them by distributers the way that CMSF was released. For a small co like BF, one bad product and customer confidence could be lost. They have to be "right" every time. And quite correctly imo they are making sure that we will all be happy when CMFB is released. Am quite happy to wait for an xnt product until hell freezes over and pigs fly (ie Spring).
  17. "1985 The Bloody Days" is proving problematic/disappointing. Not sure if it was playtested properly. Basically, it seems like one gets virtually no replacements or ammo resupply for one's core company. The Russian squads only have 5 guys and a platoon consists of two squads and an HQ - so maybe only 15 guys. So, casualties really hurt, and they do not seem to be replaced for the next mission. I must have taken too many in mission 1, as I felt I already had insufficient forces by the 2nd mission. The missions themselves seem interesting, and there does not seem to be any penalty for Cease Firing one's way thru the campaign to get to the missions one wants to play with a full company. So, I may end up doing that.
  18. After reinstalling all the CM2 games (only CMSF still to do) I have been really enjoying playing some CMA. Re Campaigns: The "Invasion" campaign is not that great nor is "Salang Blues" - rather repetitive. However, I just started "1985 The Bloody Days" and that may have possibilities to be good. "Competent Incompetence" campaign is also good. There are also some xnt standalone scenarios. Really enjoyed Snake Eyes' "The Road Of All Fears". He has also done some xnt scenarios for CMSF. "CMA Snowy Village" is a single scenario that for some reason the designer did as a campaign. Only started that and that also seems good so far.
  19. The only places I know of are: CMMODS http://cmmods.greenasjade.net/ and the BF Repository on this site. There are very few mods that I am aware of compared to the other CM games. Let us know if you find another source.
  20. With the amazing mods that are available for CMSF, one can already create good approximations of conflict in the region including Libya, Syria, Iraq etc. with conventional and unconventional forces. We already have xnt red on red campaigns and scenarios. Uncon forces have been well-modded. ISIS would be an easy mod since they're using captured US vehicles etc. What is missing are the Turkish forces & their M60 Patton Tanks, and some of the latest weapons systems. The German, Brit and NATO CMSF vehicles would make good approximations of everything else. I would be happy to see CMSF "simply" brought up to CM2 3.0 - with price points at around $25 for the base and $20 per module - say $85 for the entire set with the addition of at least 5 new professionally made campaigns. A whole new game bringing it up to 2016 date would be worth a new CM2 "family" price - around $50 for the base and maybe $35/module. BF has to figure out the comparative customer bases/numbers for either an updated CMSF to 3.0 or a whole new game.
