  1. Welcome on board, Squish. Your RL military insights are appreciated.
  2. I recall loving AMBUSH. Still have all the modules (along with over a thousand other cardboard wargames stored up).
  3. That seems to indicate that when two human players go H2H, the one with this mod has an advantage.
  4. I wuz thinking more that CM2 tankers often have supernatural abilities to spot enemy infantry close by regardless of smoke etc (unless the crew's abilities have been downgraded in the newer game versions).
  5. Well, it would be wonderful if someone did mod the ANA faces and some of the poorer quality uniforms. The rest of the game is very good. The uncons all look great. I think they are compatible with CMSF.
  6. You missed a line: "Fast engineer team to within two Action Spots (16 meters) of the flank or rear of the tank. Stay Alive! On their own the team will throw the demo charges at the tank."
  7. You are doing great work Olek. It amazes me that every few years, or when a new CM2 game comes, out there is at least one talented person like Olek, who almost single-handedly changes the look with large quantities of xnt mods. Eg: Over the years, we've enjoyed the incredible game graphics changing work of Aris/Fuser, and Kieme and many others. Sadly, they all burn out eventually. So, plz pace yourself, Olek.
  8. That 's a good point. With the modern titles (CMSF and CMBS), it seems better to have them move SLOW as tanks can acquire targets and kill em without stopping. Makes a difference in WEGO.
  9. +1 re the face quality. I don't understand what Snowball did. I think that uniforms can be modded(?). I have Soviet uniform mods for CMA. But it seems that the faces of the ANA are done in a manner incompatible with the other titles. If you use CMSF face mods in CMA, they come out very weird. UI seems to be compatible. I successfully use the CMSF weapons silhouettes with range and caliber. I think CMA buildings may be compatible with CMSF. Haven't tried using vehicles from any of the other titles. Not sure if the era would be correct.
  10. Sorry, I already forgot... what does RTFM mean again? And what was this thread about anyway??
  11. In a highly wooded area with a few roads or urban environment that's not a bad idea.
  12. Am probably not explaining myself properly. Yes, the effect of being in C2 is statistically provable in CM2 if you run 100 similar tests. My point is that the tiny % of improvement of performance having a unit inC2 is not observable/discernible in a single non-repeatable situation - like when you are playing the game (as opposed to running multiple similar experimental tests). Of course having C2 is better than not having C2. However, using good tactics, having sufficient fire support etc. is much more important re winning an engagement than worrying about C2.
  13. The main issue with the ASSAULT command is that if one team gets suppressed they both, or all 3, do.
  14. LOL I read all 8+(?) of the f********* manuals since CM1 one came out in 1999. If you can remember every detail after all those years, then you are a superman with eidetic memory! (Am assuming you know what "eidetic" means as well.)
  15. My point was that one has to do multiple tests to create statistically relevant data that shows a difference. When playing a game I don't see any observable difference when a unit is in C&C or if a Co CO has taken over command. It's not like it was in CM1, where one could immediately tell that a unit was performing much better when in C2. In CM1 it was common to be able to bring up a +2 Company commander to take command of a cowering group of squads and they would quickly recover and it was easy to see that they were quickly fighting more effectively. CM2 is much more subtle. On the whole that is more realistic. However, IIRC there have been RL situations where a very good commander could make a sudden and dramatic difference to his men. CM2 does not feature that sort of dramatic effect.
  16. While people have experimented and created movement charts for various terrains (you'd have to do searches on these forums) it's more fun to learn thru experience.
  17. Better make the above a sticky as well. Have no idea what RTFM means... (You kids with your new fangled jargon and abbreviations...)
  18. Am sure I used to see this guy exiting a West Hollywood gay bar... (while I wuz driving by). Nothing wrong with that of course.
  19. "...fatigued units have no penalty to accuracy..." That surprised me. When one thinks "fatigued", one visualizes breathing heavily, adrenalin and high blood pressure affecting eyesight etc. You sure about that?
  20. The real question is whether the Co CO has a discernible influence. The command influences are much more subtle than in CM1 and without doing statistical tests it's hard to detect any differences.
  21. Have never understood how IED's work. So, very useful summary. Thanks... (Should be a sticky.)
  22. Just to confirm: We can use this uniform mod with your other uniform mod(s)? No conflicts?
  23. I really like the faded look of the vehicle. The canopy/covering looks a bit new by comparison. Will there be a "no canopy" version? (Or do these trucks always have a canopy in RL?)
