  1. Do you know why CMx2 infantry always fire their "special" AT rifle grenades at other infantry before using the not-so-special HE rifle grenades? It's one of those little things that has always bugged me.
  2. Huh, I don't remember if binoculars can be buddy aided in CMBN or not. I'm fairly sure that radios can not. Actually, radios are assumed to be automatically picked up by squadmates if the radio operator goes down, even though this is oddly not shown in the UI (no radio is shown but the unit will maintain radio C2 links). So a radio can't really even be dropped unless the unit is wiped out to the last man.
  3. There are no schrecks or fausts in CMFI. And no "shreks" either
  4. It has to be rifle grenades. It works like that in CMBN also with the AT grenades shown as icons and the HE grenades listed separately in the other pane (why? I don't know). I wonder, do the AT grenades have to be fired first before the HE grenades are accessible, as in CMBN?
  5. Judging by the amount of "weathering" it must be by Aris
  6. With bullets, true. But if direct-fire HE -- even small caliber stuff like 37mm -- is applied to anything outside of a bunker or the thickest stone buildings the issue is decided in less than a minute, in my experience.
  7. Are you saying that you employ a librarian who works in your apartment, or that your apartment is ancient?
  8. It would be cool to know if higher experience units are more difficult to spot.
  9. I like the CMx2 engine, but my feelings on the CMx2 games are mixed. 1-1 infantry is a huge step forward, but somewhat ironically I find infantry to be relatively weaker vs. other branches of the army (artillery and armor) than their cartoonishly abstracted ancestors in CMx1. It's also hard not to notice that the CMx2 QB options are rudimentary compared to CMx1's and basic features like AAA and fire are still not in after 5 years. So yes, it's fun and overall I prefer CMx2 but I kinda sorta understand what CMx1 fans are talking about.
  10. "Slow and steady wins the race" they told me. Lies, all lies.
  11. Covered Arc command. Make the arc as short as necessary. EDIT: Ninja'd, as usual.
  12. Interesting to see that experience level affects ability to spot other units. I wonder if altering the experience level of the infantry would affect how quickly they get spotted.
  13. I did a search on the word "stroke". Looked at every post containing that word in a CMx1 related forum for the year 2007. I only found one thread that related to a medical condition but it was definitely not about a man living in England.
  14. Minor quibble: The barbed wire bug is a new one that first appeared in the 1.10 patch. The old recurring bug is the QB setup zone switch. Easy to get confused as they both happen during setup. They are also both still out there lurking, waiting.
  15. Are you seriously telling noob off for making such an innocuous comment?!
  16. It would be nice, however, if you could finish up your tank spotting tests before heading out. I'm not sure what kind of internet access they have in maximum security prisons.
  17. Yes, I am aware that units must enter a vehicle to use the Acquire command. But that wasn't what Ted was asking about in that post
  18. Dreaming. There is no justification for this that I can think of. If anything the Pz IV should be a little quicker at spotting due to superior optics both on the gunner's sight and the commanders binoculars (although I suspect CM does not model differences in the latter).
  19. The Sherman also has a significantly more powerful HE round. I also find that at least in-game the .50 M2 is very useful, with models on which it faces forward. The Sherman is a better tank in general, but not in all circumstances. The 2 things the Pz IV had over the Sherman was a main gun with better accuracy and armor penetration, and better optics. In a head-to head duel the distance at which the Pz IV begins to gain an edge over the Sherman is around 800-900 meters. That is where the Sherman's main gun begins to lose it's ability to penetrate the Pz IVs upper front hull*. * For 75mm models.
  20. ...Which I use. It's better than nothing, but you can only increase the text size a small amount without making it jumble together in some menus and the editor.
