  1. I think 20 is an optimistic estimate because many will be lost if there will be real AA weapons protecting targets. But even 10 missions would be 10 times more than current missiles. And no human pilots will be lost even if some drone is destroyed. And of course a large number of attacking drones is difficult to suppress. Usually defenders have a limited number of air defense missiles to use.

  3. You don't need artilliery round to bring down a helicopter. See here what 40mm shells do (at 3 minutes there is one helicopter target example) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uddx-5xmB4k
  4. AFVs and similar moving units with weapons may become more often unmanned. So robots fighting other robots. Of course people are still needed because robots can't do everything and can't go everywhere where human soldiers can, but these unmanned, possibly remotely controlled things are getting better year after year. Can you imagine drones with night vision equipment vs humans without similar kit? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lVnA-BYUdes Starting from 3:20 you can see how much forest helps.

  7. I think detecting and destroying drones will be one area that will get more funding. I've read about planes co-working with drones and possibilities are endless. And it's not just in air, but unmanned "vehicles" will also appear on land and sea as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E93-480jsw0
  8. This is supposed to be Russian precision shells in use Youtube video
  9. I played a CMBN QB with some extreme settings (night etc) where LOS seemed to be less than 10 meters. A tank was often just next to an enemy tank and still it wouldn't spot it, no matter how long I waited. Or a vehicle was right next to enemy so it could see it, but usually wouldn't fire it. Even with Fire command. It was the weirdest QB I've played. I really wished I could have used vehicle lights briefly to see if there's anything ahead of the vehicle. Or infanry flares like we now have infantry smoke.
  10. Once I cleared the old movement commands (instead of just moving waypoints to different parts of the map), then the lone stuck soldier started moving. But no more reports about that - the game ended.
  11. And if part of the squad won't move back to the straggler(s) then the stragglers cannot be moved. Currently I have 2 soldiers in the original problem position and another one who decided to stay in another part of the map. Won't move.
  12. Yes, it seems that what I'm seeing is a similar problem that has been reported already in 2016. I have not seen this often, maybe because most maps don't have these steep cliffs that my current QB map has.
  13. I am trying this alternate route idea. Not sure if it will work (PBEM game). It seems that after changing movement path now one soldier that was moving ok before is now stuck in the middle of a field. I must wait and see whether I can get the whole team moving. Not sure how long it will take. I have saved one turn file, I'll save more once I get them. Not sure how many days it will take.
  14. I have been playing a CMBN 4.0 QB. During this battle I've noticed several cases where all members of a team (like German HMG team or panzerschreck team) do not move to next waypoint. Some soldiers move, but some stop and won't follow. This "stopping place" seems to be near a very steep cliff. So it seems that the cliff prevents soldiers from moving to direction where they should be , and the game cannot find a longer route to next waypoint. Here is one example. example pic
  15. Another interesting Youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/user/DefenseWebTV
  16. How much does it cost to see a movie in a movie theater? I think an average CM battle is worth more, so the entire game with all the scenarios is worth much more than 60$. Add user made scenarios and quick battles, things just get better.
  17. Yes, there could be more additional triggers that would make AI act more like human opponent. Some more possible triggers: - no enemy spotted (possibly within area) and actions that could be triggered: - artillery strike to (specifed location or location where enemy was spotted) - send signal to another AI group to do something. This way you could use a small team for recon and if they see for example that there is enemy in some part of the map, they would signal some armor to move to some area.
  18. I wish we had something like this for CM games!! If we could just make roads etc that are NOT dependent on the current map tile system. In other words things currently roads, buildings etc. have to use 45 degree rotations. And drawing hills and forest areas like in the movie...
  19. Maybe they could more flavors for CMSF2 - or other modern game. Some other air strike possibilities: - the salvo mode of Brimstone - bomb/missile launched very far away from target so the plane cannot be shot down with AA weapons on the CM map. like Israel missile - check especially 2:40 -
  20. Yes, they used Tornado in those videos. Now it has been integrated to Typhoon as well. I don't have CMSF installed right now, so cannot check if this salvo option is implemented in the game.
  21. I assume CMSF2 will happen during same era as the original CMSF, about 10 years ago. If there will be a new CM game one day where events happen in future (like 2020 or 2025) and weapons and equpment are what is planned to be available then, I believe air force will be much more important role than in CMSF or Black Sea. Missiles launched from helicopters, aircraft and drones have improved a lot on this century and some can be launched as salvos so a fighter place could destroy several tanks or vehicles during one attack. Brimstone missile salvo against sea targets Brimstone against ground targets, salvo at 1:15
  22. I now found that the first video is originally from Raytheon's Youtube channel. There it says Excalibur's average miss is 1.18 meters.
  23. Yes, you have to be careful what to believe in Youtube. Some things are simply made up, but also many things become obsolete fast. In that latter video they say the round costs about 80 000$. In a 2 years older video they mentioned that target price would be 39 000$.
  24. Probably. It would be interesting to know what kind of targets those special rounds are used for IRL. Well, this video says it's very useful in cities when you want to minimize collateral damage. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfESvQIpdz8
  25. That was my point: how accurate are they? IMO even the near misses were VERY close.
