  1. yeah the tracers should be more visible so my infantry can dodge them BFC has posted on this. You must lurk...before you speak.
  2. Are people angry because they can't win? Do they feel cheated? I've seen some posts where someone claims they are an above average CMBO player. I love this. Is this statement based upon a win/loss ratio? Yelnia stare can be won by just infantry alone. You have enough maxims and mortars to suppress and you have enough infantry to overwelm. Andreas™ made the greatest point of all... area fire....area fire.... area fire. It makes realistic and tactical sense. If I can't see the enemy but have some inclination as to where he is, I'm going to pour firepower into this spot. At the same time, try and move my infantry closer. In Yelnia Stare (still haven't received my copy ) I've used mounted infantry on the t-34's and moved my one platoon up as far as I could go. It worked up until 150M from the forest, where MG fire made them leap off the tanks. Sure they panicked, but only for a turn or two. They collected their wits and snuck through the brush until they were in a position to assault or area fire the forest. I then leap frog another platoon into that area where the tanks stopped. Sure I take casualties but thats part of the plan. Reminder: How long has this game been out? A week? Maybe practice is something that makes sense here before rushing to conclusions. Most importantly, have fun. Its just a game. Keep up the good work BFC. You've got a great product . Cheers Brett [ September 26, 2002, 05:22 PM: Message edited by: Hoopenfaust 101 ]
  3. That last link didn't work for me. (But now it does) Looks like a heavy beast. I guess you didn't have any install problems. Thats a good sign. Great little movies. Don't we love our Macs [ September 25, 2002, 09:02 PM: Message edited by: Hoopenfaust 101 ]
  4. Have you tried burning the CD. I've gotten a bad Mac OS 10 upgrade CD that clicked and clacked in my drive. I burned a copy of it and then used the burned copy with no problems. Some people on the forum have reported this sometimes working. Give it a shot. Don't blame BFC about the quality control. They are programmers and artists, not manufacturers.
  5. aka_tom_w I think because we are canadian MAC users we're going to get the game last in Canada. I've got my copy coming to my office address. We've got several brokers and we do a lot of industrial top secret shipping over the border all the time. We usually get packages the next day from cleveland, and 2 days from Switzerland... but thats probably FEDEX and UPS that do all the footwork.
  6. Do you know a Steve Forrester? Bolton is small but they've got the best injection molding machines in the world. Cheers
  7. Did the package arrive with the normal mail or was it sent like Amazon, by Canada Post truck man. I'm here in Ottawa as well but I'm not holding my breath. Nutbutter, your profile says you're a student. Where?
  8. Nah... no way. I'm supposed to be the first guy in ottawa to receive it. I'm 3 blocks from the prime ministers residence
  9. Gun crews have different uniforms than the infantry. Infantry don't share helmet BMPeez Platoon HQuuz don't share infantry BMPeez
  10. Disable the backside cache. You can get a small control panel that will help you do that. Its from powerlogix . Its called a G3/G4 cache profiler. This seems to work with some people. It never did on my iMac DV SE. CMBO and CMBB demo have never crashed on my iMac G4. http://www.powerlogix.com/downloads/cacheprofiler15.html [ September 23, 2002, 05:13 PM: Message edited by: Hoopenfaust 101 ]
  11. I've got a 15" iMac and was just wondering what is the highest resolution the 17" can go? My 32MB nvidia still dithers some of the graphics but I'm just thinking its the resolution of 1024x768 that keeps it from being "sharp". There is a huge difference between the iMac and my iBook.
  12. Compact Discs are injected molded usually in a mold that will hold 50-100 at a time. Their tolerances vary but usually their QC is pretty good. Your CD player/reader is a different story. CD players have a huge tolerance in the design of the tray itself, just for situations like you've mentioned above. The extra "cast" material you speak of is called "flash", which is usually removed and reground for later use. The material on the outside shouldn't be a problem because it wouldn't have been able to spin to the appropriate speed for you to grab "some" of the info. Although big greasy peanut butter and jelly marks can stop your laser from reading your CD. Sometimes just burning your own copy of the CD and using the burned version will work if they're is a defect in the craftmanship of the CD. I've had Apple OS cdeez not work in my slot loading drive but work enough that I could burn them (luckily). The burned version worked flawlessly. But now that I remember it, CDV doesn't allow you to burn a copy (for personal use) Hope this helps.... a little.
  13. Maybe the whole BFC crew (and especially MadMatt) should come up and do some fishin' The boards sound vicious and it seems like some members are really angry over some little things. I don't even have the game but I'm not saying anything because I know I won't be dissappointed. MadMatt, the sounds are awesome. When I was a kid, drawing war scenes and battle pictures, I made sound efx with every pen stroke. I had to immerse myself into the drawing for it to really come alive. Thank god you've put so much effort into this game. I no longer have to make my own sound efx. BFC has made my drawings come true...... in 3D. I'm wondering. Will these "patches" include new sound efx which didn't fit on the CD.
  14. LOL LOL about everything you've said on the previous page too. Whats happened to all the nice funny people on this forum. We need more mac users (who most have DVDeez, because Apple thought about the future) on this forum. They seem chippier, like yourself.
  15. Well it sucks for us people who must purchase this game in Canadian currency. My Credit card bill was $84. I forget what the exchange rate was when I bought CMBO... probably worse. Anyhow, I'd gladly pay $100 US for this game. No other game compares to the playability. What is it in good old Ingerland. 24 bob. Cheers BFC for the upcomin' bout of tendonitis.
  16. Thats my watering hole, sir. You've probably been interrupted by my drunk Irish uncles who frequent both Pickwicks, and the New Edinburg Pub. Hopefully your physio isn't on Crichton St. or you'd have met my girlfriend (RMT) before me. I haven't seen any screens of our famous Waffen G-men. To the grogs, did the finnish army use the german helmet. The only pics I've seen of Finnish infantry are winter pics, where they have white hoods on.
  17. My design firm uses the NRC to do climate tests and such, actually they are some of our financial backers. I actually reside in New Edinburgh so I don't get to ride the train either. To all the generous germans, thanks for taking the time to post these screenshots. I'll probably wake up tommorrow and see more Barticus, whooz goin' to receive their copy of CMBB first? Technically speaking I'm closer to the Canada Post distribution centre. Cheers
  18. Barticus, South Keys? Lucky you get to ride the O-train. I'm a Glebe boy through and through. Funny, small world, big game. [ September 19, 2002, 09:26 PM: Message edited by: Hoopenfaust 101 ]
  19. As one Cape Breton Highlander once put it " We fought the war, but the germans won"
  20. I hope thats a QB map. (sturmtiger pic) [ September 19, 2002, 09:11 AM: Message edited by: Hoopenfaust 101 ]
  21. Buy a mac. Thats all I can say. (Although I don't know of any 128MB graphics cards for macs )
  22. Cross your fingers Dorosh. Sometimes they make you pay, sometimes they don't. I get everything delivered from the States to my work address. If customs looks up my name and company they'll see we do a lot of business cross border so usually they overlook the GST. It pays to work in a job where you can't tell people exactly what you do. Lets have a bet on who gets theirs first. My mac version will come before your PC version. Plus I live in Ottawa which is geographically closer to BFC
  23. From the screenshots it does look like early war vehicles are panzer "grey", and obviously later vehicles come in a variety of colours.
