  1. It shouldn't matter where you get your mods. Most of my mods are from Tom's site as well (props to Tom) but I have no problems with those. Don't try to mod everything, thats the key. Mod the vehicles you use most, also keep extra data files (as back up) on your HD. Another way is to have several data folders i.e. one for winter, one for summer.
  2. try this link too. http://mars.acnet.wnec.edu/~grempel/tours/normandy/battle.html
  3. Len You're my favourite opponent because I finally beat someone. Our first battle I made foolish mistakes and called it quits...like a baby. The second battle I was experimenting (ya sure) BTW I'm not complaining about you newbies at all, I'm just hoping for some more tactical tips and ideas. I've owned the game for a long time (July 200) but I didn't start playing folks like yourselves until May of this year. Maybe its because I'm a twentysomething that all you wise folks smack me around. Maybe I should join CBAN (Can't Beat Any Newbies). Hi I'm Brett... and I can't win at Combat Mission. Even though I love this game and play at least 2hrs a day I can't form a good intial plan. I can't get my head around Fionn's AAR's because when I play opponents they don't do what Fionn's opponents do Maybe we should start our own ladder: Those who cannot win. athkatla maybe we should play...but then again you are the same age as my father, and you older types know I lot more than I do and you'll probably take the piss outta me. 4. When you don't know your opponent is a newbie Playing vets then playing an "unknown to me" newbie is a hard thing to pull off. With veteran players you can usually gamble on approaches and axis of attack. But when I end up playing a newbie he has no "real" tactics and scatters his infantry everywhere with no HQ in command. Since I'm use to the "talented" player, I assume an infantry marker means he must have infantry and since I'm use to opponents grouping infantry in "platoons", I shift my forces a little. Now when I see 20 infantry markers, I start to panic thinking he's taken 20 platoons, which I'm not used to. Although I stick to my intial plan I tend to start making mistakes because of this unconventional way of warfare. Who has had this experience? Or am I as bad as I thought I was. It frustrates me because I read so much on tactics (don't know if I follow them very well) and play this addictive game I should win sometimes...right
  5. Clubfoot did a mod and a scenario for this sneaky german plan. I don't know where they are on the net but someone will be around to tell you the proper info.
  6. Not that I want to get in the way of someone trying to ban themselves, but I do want to point out that there is a longtime member of this forum who goes by the handle Bullethead, and I really don't think anyone would want to see him leave. Thanks, do carry on. See ya later BPV - sucks to be you, huh?</font>
  7. Then leave....bullethead. Geez I thought it was just a game and about fun. LOL
  8. PL Check Dorosh's website for a Carpiquet operation I did a long time ago (or the scenario depot). I've also re-done that operation using aerial photographs. I've never released it to the public but I think the map is great (the actual battle needs some work). If you want to play it or check it out I can e-mail it to you. Also read Kurt Meyer's Grenadiers. He has a chapter on the events surrounding the 12th SS against the Canadians.
  9. Hey bullethead. Hopefully we've given you the cold shoulder enough that you will go away. You are a BARGE, you've posted 46 posts in 2 days and all 46 posts are useless and lack any intelligence. Have some respect and leave this board alone. We all enjoy your kind here because it is rare that someone steps on our toes and presents them selves as a fat juicy target. Most of the forum members are of higher intellect than the rest of the population, thatswhy they play this game. Mom...hello.... oh sorry bullethead, your mom's calling you to bed lil' boy.
  10. Too many canucks too little time. You've come to the board with no attitude and a show of respect... good start. The gentlemen on this board, on average are older than us twenty somethings but they all act like teenagers when it comes to this game. Its terrific. Looking for something, they find it for you, don't understand why you can't knock out a flak 7/2 with a Hellcat, they'll tell you that too. Advice: Don't argue with the grogs( they are called grogs for a reason), respect the pengers, even if you don't understand they're intellectual inside jokes (they are all good people even though I've never communicated with them in any manner) Don't get mad or frustrated when you lose to an opponent, losing is the best part. Never act like bulletproofest. Cheers
  11. I guess "bulletproofest" is a VIP in the war game market and I guess if we snuggle up to him he'll cut us ALL a deal on CMBB. His vast knowledge of WW II keeps me coming back to check this thread and see if he's added more great info about things I don't know. Back to bridges. I just hope there will be walls on the bridges, so my vehicles don't fall off.
  12. Wow, you're pretty lucky to have pre-ordered CMBB. All your great posts seems to have given you the red carpet before all the other 9000 customers before you. Whats Mom made for dinner tonite?
  13. Great work Kwazy. It really looks like you guys are going gangbusters on this one. Thanks for the 110%...all you BFC guys. What is the grey thing on the very left of the screenshot. (the undisclosed screenshot) Rocks? [ July 16, 2002, 01:08 PM: Message edited by: Hoopenfaust 101 ]
  14. Crashing is not what I'm worried about. My iMac has crashed 4 times since April and its been mostly in 9.2. Don't get me wrong, Mac OS X is great. Its totally powerful and fast but it still needs to get the kinks out. I use it daily but some things just don't respond as "snappy" as 9.2. My pen and tablet in 10.1.5 move like molasses but in 9.2 (including CM), seamless. I'm pretty sure CMBB is made on a mac, an extremely old mac but looks like it gets the job done. Use what you've got and you are totally happy.
  15. Tom W. I've got an 800 mhz G4 iMac and Medal of honor (which is pretty cpu intensive at times) plays very slow and choppy in Mac os X. I don't know about you but, fixing things in mac os X is so much harder. I like the fact that the older operating systems were so easy to fix. It usually just an extension conflict or something like that. I knew exactly where to go to fix it and that was that. Mac os X just scares me. Sudo this sudo that..... unless you've taken "Apple Authorized training" I'm not touchin' anything. Cheers We need a "mac" Ontario sneak preview
  16. Mac Os X does not play games faster or better. Check any mac games forum and you will see the results. Tom, you are like me ( a mac tech) and you don't seem to have any problems using 9.2. I work in a design firm and we aren't touching mac os X until they can make it better than 9.2. Mac os X cannot draw vector graphics quickly ( in macromedia software) so why would I switch. And since I'm addicted to CM I never boot into mac os x anyways. Just in from MacNN news website : Apple was on target with 10% of its 25 million user base currently using OS X (Schiller said Apple expects 5 million OS X users by the end of year) That answers lots of questions. The mac is a designers tool ( at least the majority). Apple is trying to grab more market share by hurting the market that already exists. 17. Maybe to simulate the "Warsaw uprising"
  18. What grass mod did you guys use at Rune's house? Waiting for CMBB is tough (especially hearing about it from other posts) but hearing little things at a time makes my imagination run wild. BFC will put out a superior product some time soon and ALL of us will be happy. Take a deep breath, chill out. CMBO still takes up 2 hours of my life everyday, I could play it for another 3 months. Cheers Brett [ July 05, 2002, 08:11 AM: Message edited by: Hoopenfaust 101 ]
  19. Kump don't change a thing about the website. You and manx changed CM history by hosting Magua's Normandy mod. Its been a year since that unleashing. Maybe Magua will show his face someday. Still got all is mods. Cheers
  20. Fionn When you do mass your forces for maximum firepower....what if it starts raining artillery (BIG) artillery. Thats what scares me about massing troops in one area for too long.
  21. Here ya go. ftp://ftp.combatmission.com/combat_missions/mods/terrain/utah_beach/utah.asp
  22. Take a look at the "pine" trees in the new screenshots. They are massive compared to CMBO. The attention to detail these guys have. All we need now is telephone pole doodads
  23. Crank your iMac up to 1024x768. I use ta play with that setting. It should run fine. You have to remember you only have an 8MB graphics card.
