  1. I agree that the decision to make the trucks unable to load infantry is unnecessary and limiting. The potential for using them in other scenarios and ideas would seem to be a win for the users of the game. Cheers, Gpig
  2. It could be just that I'm taking too long to get the Marines on station. ***spoiler alert**** . . . . . . . . . . I drive my Marines to the Hospital ASAP and de-bus there. Setting up MG teams and one whole squad for overwatch. Then I race a squad south across the boulevard and start heading east to the objective. The last squad I move east through the buildings north of the boulevard engaging the enemy as they go. Usually by this time, the Army grunts have packed it in. Any pointers?
  3. Heh heh. Yeah, my second attempt went even worse. Last time, I left my isolateded Army dudes pretty close to their original set-up. I un-hid them from the start hoping they'd be able to spot and out-muscle the enemy with firepower. They got smoked. This time I tried shrinking my perimeter, setting up ambushes and remaining hidden for as long as possible. Didn't work either. They started to break and run for it, dying horribly in the process. Don't feel much like trying it again. What is the blue force casualty allowance? 1%? Cool map, though. Wish I could see the rest. ;-)
  4. Love the Demo. Very tempted to get the game. (Just can't fit it into my budget) Anybody wanna buy me a copy?
  5. I believe the new version is up already. This is a tough campaign. I lost the first battle with three KIA and 8 wounded. I was therefore summarily kicked out of the campaign. Back to the drawing board.
  6. I believe they found a way to get around the issue of no 3D trenches and Fog of War. Can't remember where I read it, but . . . I think there WILL be 3D trenches that do work with Fog of war (spotted, unspotted). Anybody? Cheers, Gpig
  7. what about basements? Has that been answered? (foggy memory). Gpig
  8. I'd like to see the occasional G.I. running with his rifle in one hand, and the other hand holding his helmet onto his head. And of course, HAND to HAND combat animations. Gpig
  9. I would love to play that battle by PBEM. Too bad I've played it already. Twice. Gpig
  10. The original CMSF game has a swell Red v Red battle on it that takes place in a down-town core. Can't recall the name, but it's quite the smack-town battle. (Not sure how it plays with v1.2 . . .) Gpig
  11. Really an excellent AAR. Thanks Normal Dude! Do the BMP-1's have smoke? I'm curious if you played this scenario in realtime or wego? Can you tell us the relative experience levels of the palace troops versus the Alpha group? What is your technique for room to room fighting in CM:A? (Or CMSF in general?) Cheers, Gpig
  12. Phantom Captain, Got any PBEM partners yet? Wanna battle? Gpig p.s. I won't be able to start til mid-August.
  13. Ah, yes! Hotseat. I think I'll try that again, as you get to play TWICE the action. I'm really appreciative you took the time to turn out that AAR. I'm also impressed with anyone who's managed to learn more than one language (I only know English). So no flames from me. Good work! Cheers, Gpig
  14. Thanks for the great AAR. I like the kit and layout for the Dutch side. The writing is fun, as well. (It's really well done. You are likely aware that there are some "lost in translation" errors. Most are minor, and one is pretty funny. "Centre of graffiti," instead of centre of gravity. I love that one. The Dutch side looked like they had an easy time of it. Was the AAR played against another human player? Or was it A.I. controlled? Unlucky for the Syrians that their reinforcements did not arrive a few turns earlier. Overall a real nice advert for the NATO module. Cheers, Gpig
  15. Jonny(FGM), I'd recommend trying the hotkey mod anyways. It increased my enjoyment of CMSF by 400% http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=84362 p.s. read most of the thread linked to above. There are a few different hotkey mods. One may be better than the other.
  16. Try posting in the main CMSF forum. Gpig
  17. The word you may have missed is "seemingly." It's coming, it's coming. Bunch of whipper-snappers . . . ;-) Gpig
  18. Steve wrote: "But June 1944 TO&E for US Airborne will be in Normandy and not Bulge because by the time Bulge is set that particular unit organization was no longer in use." I'm guessing there will be a December 1944 US Airborne TO&E with which we'll be able to recreate the 101st Airborne holding Bastogne? Gpig
  19. ISTR reading a post by Steve (long ago) wherein he stated precisely that. The intention to work out the kinks of the new engine on a more difficult theatre/genre/timeframe (modern war) so that the transition "backward" to WWII would make the game even better. Gpig
  20. I can still remember one battle in particular. I was the Germans defending against the Polish paratroops on the Oosterbeek cathedral map. I was well setup in a small stone house (near the centre of the map) with an MG42 team with what I thought was a wide field of fire. After waiting for what seemed like forever for my opponent to do something (birds singing occasionally in the background), suddenly a 3 man recon team of para's burst in the back door and Sten-gunned my MG team to death in like, 3 seconds. It was so shocking and awesome. He'd snuck them the whole way through the scattered trees. I never saw 'em coming. Gpig
  21. Try Red Pepper, from the scenario repository. All infantry battle. But, I think it may be a Marine scenario . . . Fun battle.
  22. Elmar, you wouldn't happen to have the original maps (or jpegs of) from CC2, would you? Or access to them? I'm planning to remake them for CMSF:N when it's out. Having also loved CC2 to death, and particularly the enjoyable maps, I can't wait to recreate them in 3D. Cheers, Gpig
  23. akd. you and me both. I never used to have an issue with passwords til the hack. I could log in and download stuff from the repository using the same login and password as I had with the Forum. I'm on Firefox and always have been. Cookies have always been set to accept. I've never had a problem getting on the forum. It's just logging into the repository now, for some reason I can't figure out. Do I need to create a new account to get into the repository? I have bought CMSF and Marines off you fella's, so there should be an account for me still . . . somewhere, something got futzed up. Gpig
  24. Thanks Moon! I'll have another go at it armed with the above knowledge. Gpig
