  1. And these limitations are?
  2. Dude, I don't think you know what an FPS is. Dude, I don't think you know what lag is, either. Carry one, this is kinda funny. Like those amateur videos with children falling from swings.
  3. Hehe... If feel for you. Do what we all do: look at CM:SF as a beta for the WW2 version to iron out all bugs and problems with the new engine.
  4. How far from the ridge is "well down"? Keep in mind that a group of soldiers in CM are not exactly on the spot where the 3D-model is, but rather spread out over a larger area around that model.
  5. And ski troop models ! Female partisan ski troop models! In underwear! And a summer version on roller blades, please.
  6. No. Unfortunately infantry can't use "hull down" tactics in CM. Even worse, the infantry doesn't even recognize a reverse slope as "safe ground". When under fire on (the enemy side of) a hill the infantry will rather crawl 50m forward towards the enemy to the next patch of trees than 10m back over the crest of the hill. It's a known problem with CMx1, won't be fixed. Hope for CMx2.
  7. If the idea of the dev team of a "Prokhorovka battle" is a massed armour slugfest at 20m I'd politely suggest some more reading. Something besides Carell and Rotmistrov... Looks very Sudden Strike-ish to me.
  8. Hi John, I hope you're doing fine! Still sad I can't make it to the gaming session at Mark's place... I would be very interested in this document, could you send it to me, too? jo_baur AT yahoo.de Danke schön, Jochen
  9. The scenario is one of the most fun battles I've played in the CM series. A great map and an interesting force mix, a great work by Abbot. Ah, and what MG said...
  10. He's back. Oh dear, there goes the neighbourhood... Hehe...good to see you back, MG.
  11. Theater of War is still a computer game, not a historical documentary. If you want to show the next generation what war is then buy a book or a movie documenary.
  12. 100% agreed. Joking aside, VERY interesting news, thanks a lot for the detailed update, Steve!
  13. Have fun in Leibzig! Oh, and have fun after Leibzig, too.
  14. What's so strange about "America's funniest insurgency videos" for a romantic evening?
  15. Well, you're talking about a 4-year old game, so I'd say you probably came a bit too late for such an endeavour. There are still quite a few eastern front WW2 fans playing the game, but most people interested in such an online war are either already playing CMMC, the Onion Wars, or are waiting for CMC to be finished. I, for example, still play CMBB PBEMs all the time, but I don't have the time to dive into an online war. It would've probably been a good idea to gauge the interest for such a campaign first before investing time and money it it.
  16. Pffft... I once made a map with graveards IN tunnels, under a church, and all connected by railroad bridges. With walls.
  17. Reminds me of the talk I once had with a female friend of mine while watching some riots somewhere on TV: "They're using rifles that fire rubber bullets at those people?! Couldn't they use, like, something else?!" "Sure. Real bullets."
  18. No. But lobsters will be displayed on a 1:1 basis.
  19. Mav1, not for the first time on this forum you state absolutely unfunded nonsense. Please, stop making a fool of yourself and run a simple test before posting your claims about how CM doesn't do this or that in the future. I just ran a simple test: 2 german 81mm mortars firing at a regular soviet squad in a trench. After 30 seconds the squad went prone, suppressed. After 60 seconds 3 out of 9 soviet soldiers had been wounded, their morale shaken. After another 45 seconds the squad had suffered another 3 wounded, the squad panicked (in command range of its platoon HQ) and ran off to the rear. No, mortars are not ineffective against troops in trenches. No, they DO actually cause quite some injuries against the troops. Yes, the do have a suppression effect.
  20. Moon has hinted that it will be possible to record the missions and play them back later, much like in the flightsim IL2, on whose engine ToW is based.
  21. I'd even say some major problems were found. I really can't explain the lack of substantial info otherwise. That's exactly why I'm hoping for an AAR. Soon.
  22. I know, I know... But since CMC, according to previous news, should have passed into beta stage long ago, I'm wondering if it would be possible to post a couple of turns of an AAR here. Nothing spectacular, I'm not expecting Operation Barbarossa... But a couple of turns showing a regimental-sized operation over a few turns would be nice. After all the time since this board saw the light of day, I'm still wondering how the game will play out actually. I do understand that posting an AAR will mean lots of questions to answer afterwards, but I have to admit I've rarely seen a game supposedly close to release with so few information. C'mon, give us something to chew on.
