  1. Tried FSAA off and although I got 1-2 FPS more, performance is still abysmal. I even turned off the shadows (they look kinda crappy anyway) and managed to increase FPS in the aformentioned scenario to around 15. Still unplayable, especially in RTS mode. Tried another larger scenario-> 10 FPS. The "ATGM ambush" scenario runs fine (25-40+ FPS) but if I'm restricted to platoon-sized battles with half a dozen units on mini-maps I'd be very disappointed indeed.

  3. My system (Win XP SP2, AMD 2600+, 1 GiG RAM, Nvidia 7600GS) seems unable to run the game with anything than tiny scenarios. During the "ambush tutorial" mission I get around 10 FPS in views 1-5, settings at "faster", resolution 1024x768, 2xFSAA. Furthermore, the game seems to "hang" for an instant quite often when pressing a command button. Drivers are up-to-date, and I keep my system religiously clean.

  5. Downloading...32 more minutes to go...
  6. --- WILD SPECULATION --- My estimation is that BFC will activate the download for the preorders sometime during the morning hours (east coast time). Probably 10 AM. That would give them enough time after the offices open to conclude all necessary stuff with their hosting partners. And it's also right after the daily maintenance of Charles' braininajar-o-matic. That would translate into a 4 PM release here in Germany (3 PM GMT).
  7. It will probably depend on scenario size for me. For small ones (platoon-company) I'll probably play realtime, bigger ones in WEGO-mode.
  8. Taki & Alexander: I hope you guys are aware that we're expecting an AAR of your battle.
  9. Hi Alexander! Kudos to your review. I was definitely a bit surprised by the quality of it, since I sometimes consider the Gamestar reviews a bit...uhm...shallow, as far as hardcore sims or strategy games are concerned. Ein wirklich schönes Video das sehr gut verdeutlicht um was es bei CM:SF geht. Hut ab!
  10. Welcome to the forums. Madmatt already mentioned that in one of the sticky threads in this very forum: "I haven't built the final download version installer yet so that filesize is an approximation (although its going to be around 350-400 megs more than likely) but yes the data files DO compress very well now. The games installed footprint is about 1 gig."
  11. It is indeed a video review from Gamestar, and the tester really seems to like CM:SF. His conclusion: don't let the meagre presentation (compared to blockbusters like Company of Heroes) put you off, the game is an incredible deep, realistic tactical wargame. I am quite surprised about the positive tone, I had expected much more criticism about the complexity etc... This is REALLY great news!
  12. Hell, no. I've created Scenarios, Missions and small Mods for a couple of games and I would NEVER take money for them. I created them because I had fun doing so and like the idea of giving back something to the community. One of the great features of the CM series is excacly the ability to download hundreds of FREE mods and scenarios.
  13. PCfun.de, one of Germany's biggest online game shops offers CM:SF as of today. I just phoned them if it's really already available and they told me yes, they just recieved it and that if I'd pay with credit card they would send it to me today. Now, I'm not wanting to start an uproar here, and I'm still happy with my decision to preorder via BFC, but IMO it's not OK if loyal fans who order the game directly via BFC get the game later than Paradox customers. EDIT: Gamestar.de, the website of Germany's biggest gaming mag reports in their news section that CM:SF is available as of today at PCfun.de. 14. Monkeys refreshing yearning for syrian sun where are the lobsters?
  15. I expect the release to depend on US time. Every other solution would just unnecessarily complicate things.
  16. /makes note of making sure Sergei is among the first to be put up against the wall once revolution starts. /makes note of recommending Salkin for an important position once the revolution starts, probably as general inspector of tabletop dancing.
  17. All I'm saying is that it would be nice if it would be that way, kind of a bonus for their loyal supporters. Chances for that happening are probably small, though. And yes, they will send out emails once the download gets activated.
  18. BFC so far haven't confirmed a specific time. I'm still hoping they provide the download a day earlier for those who preordered the game directly from the BFC website.
